Root Desperate Help

Can't lie: I'm a noob. I'm trying to recover my phone but it get's stuck at thered triangle.

***Unlocked***
Phone: HTC Evo 4G
Supersonic EVT3 Ship S-ON
Hboot-2.18.0001
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.12.19

I used the dummies guide to root it. Please help. It's like 3 AM where I am. I just need to finish this phone today.

ok more info please. what are you trying to do? the red triangle is usually associated with not having a recovery. do you have a recovery?

You need a recovery if you click on the "all my links in one place" link in my signature you will see a Smelkus recovery take that go rename it PC36IMG.zip (insure you have only 1 .zip and not 2 as winblows hides file extentions. Go to hboot and allow it to update. then reboot into recovery.
 
Alright. I don't even know what I'm doing. I downloaded the recovery zip from the link ^^ , renamed it to PC36IMG and put it on the root. When I set it to HBOOT, it found nothing. So I went to Restore and nothing still happened.

hmmm...I'm wondering, since you are unlocked, s-on that the PC36IMG.zip you are trying to use will not work.
Let's try this,
delete that zip you have, cuz if you have 2 it wont work
Download this one. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/58324641/PC36IMG.zip
No need to rename as it is what it is.
Put on root of sd card...not in a folder.
Power down phone, wait a few, then volume down and power button at same time to go into hboot and it will find it.
When it asks you to update choose no and then choose recovery.
Just remember to delete the first one you downloaded off of sd card, then put the new one on that I linked.:)

Edit: my linked PC36IMG.zip is taken from this guide.
PC36IMG method
this will depend on what software version you are on.

if you have software version 4.67.651.1 download this file:PC36IMG.zip

if you have software version 5.07.651.1 download this file:
PC36IMG_AmonRA-v2.3-hausmod_revA.zip

1.download the PC36IMG for your software version above.
2.rename the file so that it is only PC36IMG. make sure that you do not add any extra .zip's to the name as windows hides extensions by default.
3.transfer the file to the root (that means not in any folder) of the sd card.
4.power off (you most likely need to uncheck fastboot. settings/apps/uncheck fastboot.) then press and hold power+vol down.
5.hboot should see the file and select yes to update.
6.select no to reboot because we want to go into recovery and make a nandroid backup.
7.select recovery.
8.select backup and restore and select backup
9. select the first three and wimax. the other partitions do not need to be backed up. always keep one nandroid backup with wimax keys backed up on your computer.
10.now you can reboot.
11.using a file manager of some sort or even through your computer via usb, you should rename or delete the PC36IMG file on your card. otherwise you will be asked to update every time you go to the hboot screen. you do not need that file any more.

o.k...just to be sure here and I know it frustrating but.
1...On the sd card, top level, not in any folder?
2..Named exactly PC36IMG.zip? Capital letters, no spaces, the "I" is an
"I" and not a "1"...I know, I know, sometimes it happens.:p
3. booted into bootloader, it will take a couple seconds before it reads that file.
4. no other files exist on sd card named the same?

glad you were able to get it working. now go to the second part of the guide, the after root section. there is plenty of info that you should know about now that you have recovery.

now go and get your flash on:D
 
so, now that this issue has been resolved, can we COMPLETELY thread jack this one for meme references? PWEEEEASE???????
