Root JoyMod 1.0

OK here's what I did. I went to restore and wiped user data (factory reset), cache, and dalvik cache multiple times. That's what is meant by wipe right?

Then I installed your Joy with Stock Kernel and reboot.

Half hour later (I was eating) it was still looping from apple to robot, back and forth.

Did I do anything wrong? Must I partition my SD?

Sounds like a corrupt download

You sure? It did this with your other Joy 1.1 ROM also, which didn't even reach the Apple splash until I tried the flashing of the Kearnel with No Ext method, after which it would do the Apple loop. Did I corrupt both ROM downloads somehow?

I'm starting to think I have to partition. If I did, and it boots as usual, and I stuck in a unpartitioned SD card, would Joy get stuck in the Apple loop upon next reboot? That's why I don't want to partition.

Edit: My firmware may have been updated recently, hope that helps

Edit: I'm reading the CyanogenMod 7 thread and my phone needs to be prepared for that by using Odin to install EJ06 baseband. Does any baseband work for Joy 1.1? What baseband are you running so I can try it?

i am using the newest baseband FA19 rooted you could give it a shot i am setting up my phone like yours with sd ext to see if that is the issue

:Edit its not you its the rom im fixing it now

I don't have access to a computer for a few days so it would be sweet to get it to work without having to partition (which would lose all my data with no PC) or Odin.

So if it could work on FE16 with no SD partitions then everything's A-OK!

Crap. I saw Joy 1.1 when I was at work. By the time I got home it was back down to Joy 1.0.

So what should I do? Flash 1.0 and then flash the hotfix or has the 3g fix been incorporated into 1.0? So redownload and reflash?

Great rom although espier force closes and freezes sometimes and Google Services Framework force closes when I try to save contacts and when I used play store.

Something had to have happened I would just reflash the rom and hotfix over what you already have thats if its joymod then boot it wait about 10 min then reboot then you should be ok

I've enjoyed this port for a little bit and now have some comments.

- Remove JoyTuner.apk from system/apps, it doesn't work.
- How about removing the entire switchboard from the notification pulldown menu? When you swipe up on a homescreen and scroll all the way to the left, you have redundant but prettier toggles.
- I liked the screenshots showing the Android status bar in the third post. The white bar doesn't seem to blend as nicely, I think because iPods and iPhones tend to be white, whereas a black bar looks nicer on a black Prevail. I know that one way to look at any project like JoyOS is to emulate iOS as closely as possible, but since it can never be completely accomplished (you'll still always have Android menus), I feel the best way to approach it is to create a hybrid that's the best of both worlds, and I think the Android bar is better. So either leave the Android bar there with Android-style notifications, or at least emulate iOS 4's Notification Center ripoff of Android, which uses a dark metallic gray anyway. iOS 5 copies Android further with a black bar, so I think going from black to white is backwards, and doesn't look right on my phone.
- The Music player and its Cover Flow, integration into lockscreen and multitasking bar is awesome.
- The Settings menu is very choppy when scrolling, and I suspect it's because of the design sacrificing fluidity for accurate emulation. Again, think hybrid and leaving a fluid Android-style menu is a better choice
- I'm sure this and previous suggestions is better directed at the JoyOS team, but since you have assumed the role of porter for Prevails, you have a responsibility (and ability hopefully) to improve upon aspects of the ROM. One aspect that is very missing is a Weather app that displays the current weather in its icon as on iOS. Either that or include a widget, but it is very much needed to be a complete iOS experience. (Calendar is done right)

I hope you dedicate some time to this because I think the Prevail is awesome when emulating iOS (it's the perfect size) but attention to detail is key. With the right creative vision JoyOS for Prevails can be better than JoyOS for all other devices. However I am an impatient type and I might just tweak things myself through reverse engineering and share in this therad in the future, once I get my PC back. But the notification bar and pulldown definitely needs work. To repeat it doesn't feel Android nor iOS, which is why it's weak. So get rid of the Switchboard and make everything metallic gray including the bar like iOS 4 OR make it a black bar and black notifications like modern Android

well thank you for your input i will try my best to alter those things ill just make 2 different versions of it it will take some time because ill have to do a lot of decompiling and compiling to change it all but i will gladly make another version that meets most if not all that criteria
