Root [CDMA] Which is the best ICS?

I was happy to get an OTA message for the ICS update and came here and just saw the "Guide to install the latest ICS update for the HTC EVO 3D" which to my disappointment doesn't support rooted phones, which is absurd seriously since the perma-root guide comes from HTC itself in the first place! What sense does that make?
So I ask you people now, what ICS ROM should I flash through recovery since I can't use the HTC stock one?
Or can I? Can I try to flash the OTA though recovery? What'd happen then?
If not then is there a custom ROM with all the features of the HTC stock one, just to see what they've put in there.
I also want full 3D functionality like in the first stock release, both in pics and in video. I really don't want anything getting in the way of the best thing this phone has to offer.
Also, that line "WAIT FOR THE DEVA TO RELEASE IT FOR ROOTED PHONES" in the Guide to latest ICS. I guess that's the ROM I'm asking but who/what is DEVA? Where to find it also?
Thanks

I will move this to the rooted section for you to get the proper answers, this section is for stock only ;)

Simple, once rooted you don't take the OTA, and you flash an ICS Rom that has been out for a few months. There are few out there and many posted here in this section, but they are all based on VM, so now with the latest OTA release from Sprint there should be more traffic here on this matter.

In my opinion chef Rom has evolution best ics Rom I've ran yet based off of vm leak I'd post a link for that but xda and mikmik both took his roms off :/

Btw I'm almost 99.9% positive "deva" was just a typo for devs lol

So stupid of me, I posted this and forgot all about one day later. It's just that my stock 2.3 works fine most of the times, it's only one completely stupid idiotically simple bug that bothers me in this ROM, and that is the changing ringtones thing every time I restart the phone? I think it happens then, no sure though, did some restarts and didn't happen. :?:?:?
Anyway... I remembered this post when it DID happen :@@@@ that bug annoys me so much!
It's actually the only reason I find to change the ROM, THAT specific bug, which though small it's pretty f-ing annoying. Another reason is the existence of chrome as a browser but I hear it crashes allot and does a bunch of stupid stuff also so... yeah, maybe I'll use Dolphin in ICS also, I dunno?
So thanks for the replies guys, I'll check that chef Rom when I have the time and see how that works for me.
Cheers

I've been running d3rp for a while, and its pretty cool. Occasional hiccups but nothing too annoying. Looking at trying something else soon, though.

I could deal without all they grey thinking about flashing the senseless version

Grey notwithstanding, I do appreciate the different options available in that ROM. You can get pretty much anything you like with d3rp. I did load a couple of themes to ease off the grey thing, so it's all good! Or derpalicious as they say on xda!

It would be nice to be able to flash some d3rp themes but each theme brings me to a broken page :/

Though one thing I do miss coming from vm based is the actual ics dialer contacts etc

Yeah, well, I'm too much a n00b :o to know the diff ... Still trying to wrap my noggin around which firmware may need to be flashed before which ROM... Or whether to put my left foot in or my left foot out... Trying to be diligent and do my homework, but I'm thinking I'm conf00sed again! :o

As far as I know and I may be wrong I don't think you need to be on a certain firmware to flash anything. Don't quote me though. Like you could flash og mean while being on an ics rom and it would downgrade you to 2.3.6 and vice versa

Btw flashed d3rp bareback (senseless) loving it too :D

That's what I thought originally, but I saw on Cool's ICS, it says to make sure your on the right firmware. Would that then be only if you were flashing another kernel on top of the ROM? That's where I'm conf00sed. Thanx.

I'm staying away from flashing kernels as that's not something I've done yet but as far as I know when it comes to just flashing roms you don't need to be on a particular firmware

Just flashed paranoid android based off of tablet 4.0.4 super nice :)

Edit: although it's nice found a couple bugs that made me revert back to d3rp. Camera when launched way fuzzy and same way if you try to watch anything YouTube via app or browser.

Was going to ask how you liked it... Wanting to try another ROM, but I keep coming back to d3rp... May go sense-less with d3rp though...

Senseless is very nice it was my daily for almost 2 weeks (that's a long time for me since I flash every other day lol) flashed sos aosp (swagged) actually liking it more than d3rp bareback. Comes with aroma installer so you can choose what apps and mods you want through installer. Based off of mean ics 2.4. I see myself using this one for a while. Maybe.....

Are you S-OFF? I was able to get stock ICS on my phone.

Check out this thread: Help flashing stock ICS

A lot to sift through but we eventually got it on my phone.

Here is the quick version if you feel comfortable...

download the correct RUU for your phone: FileFactory Folder View - Shooter
I would directly link you but I don't know exactly which one your phone needs. Sorry. I assume this one: RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed.exe - download now for free. File sharing. Software file sharing. Free file hosting. File upload. FileFactory.com
but don't quote me on this...

Run it, it will update everything needed and install stock ICS.

Flash recovery of your choice. I used this: PG86IMG-recovery_ext_4.zip it is 4ext touch recovery.
Refer to this post if needed:
http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all...ause-i-am-very-new-rooting-2.html#post4862361

Then Flash SuperSU: SuperSU Download

You successfully rooted stock ICS!!

Alternatively You can just flash a stock rom: [ROM]Stock EU_Shooter_U-1.20.401.8_ROOTED [25-10-11] - xda-developers

But Please verify the ROM or RUU before using it. I am unfamiliar with what to use for a phone in Greece and GSM phones. I'm just giving you my best guess. Hopefully you will know which one you need but you should at least be able to find it on the list of RUU's i provided.

Please note this assumes you are S-OFF. If not, you need to re-lock your bootloader before running the RUU.

Hope this helps. I was able to get stock ICS on my CDMA phone.
