Not sure if everyone discussing the second mic is aware, but the 2nd noise canceling mic on the N1 is the tiny pin hole on the left edge on the back. The larger hole that is similar on both is the speaker on the N1, and presumably the same on incredible.

Lol, damn, you're right. I guess we won't be detting the dual mics.

I don't like the advice given to you. I mean in an extreme example, you might as well get an old school clam shell cellphone, a pager, a Nintendo DS, a Sandisk 2GB MP3 player, a calculator, a PDA, and a stop watch separately.

I mean that's why we have smart phones, right? We want to get an assortment of features in one device for simplicity sake. Use your future Android for music too so you just need to bring one device.
Yea i know what your saying, i was gonna say that in my post myself. I kind of mixed up my words and just getting lost.

But you kind of put it to the extremes. Im pretty sure most of us carry around a cellphone and a music player. It's great that a smartphone can do so many things, but the problem is that it doesn't excel at any one particular thing. It's like being extremely specialized in one thing or just knowing how to do a lot of things. You will know how to do a lot of separate things but you will be missing some information on each little separate thing.

Yea i suck at making analogies and examples

W/e, in my personal opinion. I will use the android for web browsing, apps, video viewing, etc..and keep my ipod touch for listening to my music. I know i could use my android to listen to music also but i don't really feel like buying a 16gb microsd card or more. I'll just pick up a class 6 8gb card for like $20-30 and then use my ipod touch for music. Saves some room on the cell phone storage. I'll use my android for movie viewing definitely though, larger screen + AMOLED = heaven.

I don't mean to be rude but unless your doing a comparison of the Nexus One to the incredible please take it to the Nexus One forum.

Solo Nexus One comments don't belong here.

Not trying to be rude. I'm just trying to keep it clean in here.;)

:):):)

We are actually asking if the Incredible is gonna have a dual mic, and I'll try not to be a dick while saying this, but if you are gonna suggest people go talk somewere else, you should really make sure that they are truly off topic, cause we have been most definitely talking about a N1/Incredible comparison.

No offense.

I feel like it's important to some people. Some people talk in the car a lot and they might have an old civic or big loud truck vs a new quiet audi or bmw. They also might live in an area like NYC which i'm sure can be loud when walking around at the right places at the right time (granted i've never been there). Since the N1 is going to be a similarly spec'd phone, it might change someone's decision.

I fit that demographic pretty well. I photograph sporting events. Nothing is quite as hard as trying to be heard over a PA announcer when the photo well is near a speaker or the crowd is cheering.

Noise cancelling can definitely be a plus.

I don't know which phone to get. I sincerely believe both the N1 and the adr6300 are coming out soon. Do I want the extra mega pixels or the extra mic? Do I want the Sense UI or the Vanilla 2.1? I'm not really thaaat familiar with either. I'm so confused.

I went from no choices to too many choices. I need some advice. I'm lost... but happy. :)

yea i second thought what i said, i dont like the advice a gave either, i say what you say to my dad all the time...cuz he is right, the data thing is a big issue, not only that getting a dumb phone plus an ipod touch would actually be more expensive depending on the amount of memory you get...but the point i was trying to make is cuz i have a friend, mind im only 16, who has a DROID and an ipod touch and its like since hes 15 he doesnt really need all the use for that data stuff, but i see where you adults could be coming from....i think the only reason i would want an ipod touch is the fact that you have tons of docks for it, but w.e...i dont like apple and i love android, and verizon doesnt have good dumbphones...so imma just wait till the incredible comes out and have my parents buy it for me, lol:rolleyes:

From your posting attitude, I think you could go through life being "Lost but happy" which is an awesome thing. I like to think I'm the same way. Let the small things roll, and be happy about the good things.

That brought a tear to my eye. :p :D

Just want to say...still love you Montana for all your work. :) And, Steven, miss you when you're gone. You are too funny. :)

Thanks!!! W..w...wait a minute! Did you say "too funny?" Does that mean that I'm funny too much? :p ;) (but I can't control myself!!!!)

I was referring to people who were commenting only about the N1 (and thus getting off topic) as you can read in my comment I said that comparisons were perfectly acceptable.

Bottom line I wasn't talking to you No offense taken as it was a misunderstanding on your part. Those who I'm talking to know who they are.

It's all good. I just don't want to see this get closed . . . again.

:)

I think that's a fairly accurate statement. I mean, when you cause me to laugh out loud at work because you post something funny, and I get strange looks from my coworkers.....that might constitute as 'too funny':D

Edit: But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes, they do look very similar.

And to the post above about what dual-mic does.

A dual-mic serves the purpose of canceling out ambient noise to allow the person on the other end to hear your voice more clearly without all the ruckus in the background. Basically, the technology like this would excel in crowded places like the city streets with hundreds of ppl walking next to you or a very crowded bar/restaurant where your all smushed together.

Or an 18 wheeler. I drive an 18 wheeler 5 to 6 days a week. I use a Blue Parrot blue tooth device in the truck and it works great. No one can hear any background noise when I use it. I was just hoping that the Incredible would have the dual mic tech so as to limit the background noise in all places such as malls and such. :)

Hahaha, i posted like 3 essays comparing the two phones.

Im gonna go with whichever phone comes out first now. I have grown a hatred for waiting now and getting no announcements or confirmed news makes everything worse.

-8MP vs 5MP, doesn't really matter, cameras on the phones still aren't as good as having a separate digital camera. They are getting close though i will give them that. Especially if you have a decent digital camera, you might as well use what you paid good money for.

-Dual-mic, matters even less. Im pretty sure none of us have paid attention to this in the past years anyway. Calls will still sound fine, unless your packed with a thousand people all on top of each other.

- Vanilla 2.1 vs sense on top of 2.1. This one goes either way, i honestly havn't seen anything amazing on sense 2.1 over stock. You get 7 homepages, minor GUI tweaks and thats about it. Like 1 live wallpaper exclusive to sense. It's honestly really similar to stock 2.1. Especially with live wallpapers, they both look virtually the same. Also, the Nexus One will get updates fasters, its vanilla, and its google's phone. It's going to be the first to get updates. Phones with overlays like Sense will take longer to tweak and make compatible etc...Sense UI made a lot more of a deciding factor in android builds before 2.1 like 1.6 etc...I would have waited for only Sense UI back in the 1.6 build days, but now there is 2.1 and they look pretty much the same with live wallpapers.

-Nexus One sold through google only? This one is personal opinion. Im starting a new contract with VZW so it doesn't really affect me. May be different for most of you guys.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Still, a single device is just much easier to deal with. Smartphones are really close to jack-of-all-trades and master of none, but some things like music doesn't have to be "mastered" so as long as its done well enough so users can listen to music without fumbling through five screens and such.

I already picked up a Class 6 8GB Adata MicroSD for like $20 because I thought I was getting a Nexus One (which was reportedly to include a dinky 4GB [class 2?] card at the time). How much music do you listen to anyway? 8GB should be more than enough for songs. :-)

That's true about accessories for Apple devices. Most of them do have an aux port though... but it doesn't look as good and it doesn't charge the device.

When I read these posts, I heard the song, in my head, "Caaaaan you feeeel the loooove toniiiiiiight...... (lion king)"

:)

I know the assumption is that the N1 will receive updates faster than other phones, but has there actually been any updates given to the N1, and if not, do we think that google will have the final decision and not the carrier? In my mind this is one of the main advantages of the N1 over the Incredible if the N1 will truly get 'immeidate' OS updates.

Yea i don't have a ton of music like some other ppl. I've seen someone post saying they have like 100gb worth of music. Yes, honestly, like 8gb is enough for me. But on a smartphone, i would have to go with atleast 16gb. I used an iPhone 3g 16gb for a while and i was surprised at the amount of space i used in the short amount of time i had it before selling it for some cash. I used up more than half of the 16gb and was left with like 4gb. I didn't have any movies or stuff either.

I don't mind carrying 2 devices, whats so bad about having a phone and an iPod. We've been doing it for years already lol. Yea i agree, doesn't take much to perfect music playing.

The only reason i brought up the whole thing is because people posted about the 8gb movinand the Incredible is supposed to have and it being a huge factor and pro for the phone. It honestly doesn't make a big difference to me. I already have an ipod touch that i paid good money for, i still might as well use it. Why not use something you already have?

Good afternoon Mr. ------,

Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. My name is Gary, and I understand you are inquiring about a phone model ADR6300. I know how important it is to have the phone you want. I will be happy to review your account and provide more information about available phones. I also want to thank you for your business with Verizon Wireless. I sincerely appreciate that you have been a customer since 04/26/2000.

Mr. -----, currently, Verizon Wireless does not offer the ADR6300. I am unable to provide information regarding which equipment is being considered or approximate release dates, as this may raise expectations that may not be met. Regretfully, we cannot guarantee that the phone could be activated on the Verizon Wireless network when purchased from a different carrier. While the base CDMA technology is consistent, each carrier may have their own operating software installed in the phone and different operating software is not necessarily inter-operable between carriers. In addition, many carriers use a

Well, mainly updates as in. New android builds. Like Android 3.0 or something. Im pretty sure the Nexus One is going to be the first to get it, maybe among a few phones getting it. The HTC Evo has a chance of getting it if it released in summer. Just makes sense that google would give the update to their own phone first before others.

Just the right amount of funny. Always making me laugh or smile. :)

I feel the same way! In fact, On behalf of everyone in here, I'd like to present Steven with a small token of appreciation for all of the Incredible things he has done for this thread!
