Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

Found another little bug,

After a reboot, all my favorites in my people widget disappeared. The only way to get them back was to delete the widget and then add the widget. Anyone else get this problem?
 
Of course, that happens to me all the time. Since the first 2.1 leak as well. So many bugs in the software its rediculous. Im currently running 2.1b and in my opinion the main MASSIVE problems are as follows.

*Phone audio cuts out randomly, have to reboot to get sound back

* Signal bars arent accurate, although its better then 2.1a, its still jumping around and alot of the time shows none or 1-2 bars when it should be showing 3 or 4 based on the very good dbm value.

* Tons of other little things, but not as mainstream as those two.

I just had to reboot my phone because the ringtone/notifications stopped working and when I tried to choose a new tone, the "htc.picker..." force closed.

My signal bars are still at 1 bar even with the new leak.

Hopefully the official comes out this century, before I just buy a new phone!

Its been rooted. Look in the everything rooted forum for the Eris. But if you went straight to the OTA leak, then no, at this time it isnt rooted. Im on it and love it. Only bugs I have are the known ones. No pics in gmail (can be worked around though through POP3). No FC's on me yet but I finally put it down after tweaking it and removng stuff so we shall see after this weekend.

ya im still having trouble with the gmail too. i just bookmarked gmail on the internet and used that.
and ya i kinda jumped the gun :/
so far im happy though. the only thing i really wanted from root was tethering and i found a way to do that w/o root.
 
anyone experienced the music player starting up unexpectedly after hagnign up from a phone call? It has only happened three times randomly, but was very bizzare.
 
On apps that connect to the internet, most of them don't work. I was looking through this thread, and I saw that other people had the same problem, though I didn't see anyone post a solution. If you have a solution for this problem, please post it.

Also, I did the Airplane mode trick in hopes to get back some battery life, however it didn't help... After 2 minutes, the cell standby was up to 15%. The first time it was up to 45%. Yes, there is a drop though people are getting 0%. Any suggestions?

What apps are not working? All mine are working just fine.
 
Most of the apps that aren't working are the games like iMobsters and some others. Some do work, like Pandora and I don't know about the BoA app because I don't use BoA but I should probably try that.

lol the only one I use is Pandora and it works awesome. Sorry I don't use the others.
 
Yea, the BoA app doesn't work either. I'm guessing that it is just something that cannot be fixed till the OTA update comes out or another leak?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions about my battery issue? I did the airplane mode trick and it dropped the Cell Standby from 45% to now 16% (just checked it, it changed). The uptime is 20 minutes and it is already at 84% battery. WTF... Granted I am playing Pandora on it, though people have had battery improvements and the battery lasted much longer on 1.5. Any suggestions/work arounds that anyone knows that might help me?

Is that named right ? I have no such app listed.... Even if I launch the "Get More Widgets" and then launch "Manage apps..." and filter it to only show "running" apps, that doesn't show up.
 
is anybody else having sound problems? sometimes my phone will start ringing full volume and then fade out...and sometimes the volume just doesnt work. also when im in a call i cant hear the person on the other side and they cant hear me...am i alone on this problem? :confused:

I think I can answer your first question. There is an option, somewhere in the sounds settings, when you pick up your phone (It senses the movement) it turns the volume down. But if you aren't touching your phone and it's fading then i don't know lol

Check for this settings. Settings -> Sound&display -> Quiet ring on pickup

Is that checked? If so, that is the cause of your ringing issue. Other issue I had once about not hearing. Just did a restart and not had issue since. Hope this helps ya out.

what about the sound randomly dropping out in calls and having to reboot to get it running again?
 
i know there have been alot of posts about this...and supposed fixes...but ive done everything said on this forum...and every time i try to link a contact to their facebook is says 'no matches found' even though i didnt write anything in the 'select contact' box...

anyone know of a fix that actually works? has anyone successfully fixed this?

edit: also does anyone else have trouble with wifi? i cant seem to get internet to work with wifi...and totally different subject...why doesnt the eris' internet work while on a call? is that just a verizon thing? or does it have to do with phone capabilities?

I was having this problem too and either had to remove/readd the widget or add another fav and the rest would all show up.

BUT, I found another solution that eliminates the widget all together. I added a people shortcut for each of my favorites. Shortcut > People. This still allows you to text, call, email and you get a little icon on your screen with their picture. I actuall like this approach so much better and it seems to be faster too. The icons are smaller and only take up a fraction of the screen compared to the Favorites widget.

You'll see their contact picture, but they'll be smaller icons.

I also like to create folders and put the contacts inside them. I have one folder for direct dial, and another folder for direct text. You can rename the folder by long-pressing the title of the folder once it's open.

I was having issues with my favorites showing up incorrectly, etc, so I switched to this way also, putting people shortcuts directly onto their own page.
Much happier with this setup.
 
It's troubling seeing so many people having problems with the first or second 2.1 leak. I installed first one, and had the google login error on startup, but that's it. I think I got a few force closes over the course of 3 weeks. Then Thursday, updated to new leaked 2.1, and Google error is gone, and everything seems to work great. I use Pandora, USA Today, Chomp SMS, Zedge, Movies, and Yelp. But that's it, I haven't installed a bunch of games or other apps.

I definitely think there are some major compatibility issues with various apps and whether they were wrote for 1.5/2.0/2.1 etc.

And I think there is something to be said that most users on this forums are "power users", and if anyone were to find the bugs, it'd be us.
 
this isn't really a bug but some random stock "videos" that are just a couple of seconds long have just seemed to show up. One is of a red cross, one is a breast cancer ribbon, one is for Haiti.... anyone else have these show up in their Videos folder?
