Ok, so I think I made a grave mistake. Two days ago after being frustrated with lack of memory problems, I used Rom toolbox light to batch install all my applications to my SD card. The phone worked fine for a day although two of my widgets disappeared. The problem is that last night I shut down my phone, this morning when I turned it on, It booted up just fine it shows my back screen, and the status bar with the time, battery life, bars of service, and a few notifications. I have tried rebooting it several times to no avail. By the way, this is a rooted EVO4G running MIKG V.2.5

Can you access the app drawer at all as far as getting to rom toolbox?
Edit: perhaps you can clear cache and dalvik in recovery and flash rom over itself?

I can't unlock my phone to access anything because the unlock screen on my phone is not there (I have the drag able ring and icons lock screen, which isn't showing up) All I see is my background, and the status bar. If I flash the rom over itself, won't that erase all my app data? Urg, I new I should have made a nandroid back up before doing the batch install thing.

If your able to get into recovery then your fine just reflash the rom and if you need space then use a2sd instead of other apps. DT's a2ad is going to need you to partition your sdcard (1gb is sufficient) It actually moves all user apps over to sd and not just part of the apps as the ones from the market do. Also keep in mind that you will need to backup the sd-ext when doing a nandroid

I'm 80% sure No loss of data will occur. This thread should be in the All Things Root forum. More help there. On phone now. PM rxpert or ocnbrze to help and move this thread:D

ehe, screw it, I need my phone more than my data. Time to do a wipe and install a new ROM. Any OTA updates since Gingerbread was rooted? I haven't stayed in the loop due to the business of my life.

So...I tried re-loading the ROM, but it didn't change anything.
Did you just wipe only cache and dalvik cache, then reflash?
If so, perhaps time for a fresh download, fresh wipe all except sd, then reflash.
I just wonder if you can pull the launcher apk and odex from the rom's zip and put that into /sytem/app and change permissions.??? then reboot?
It's a thought, just need verification about doing that first.
Argedion might know that if he comes back here. He's a smart feller:)

Yes there were updates... but DO NOT accept the OTA updates, just flash an updated rom and you'll be fine.
I'll link the link for the roms in a minute

Edit: here ya go.
I recommend MikG3.11 for a sense rom, or Decks Reloaded for an AOSP rom...I ran both

Eh, I did a full backup (Boot, system, data,sd-ext, and .android_secure) I am getting ready to wipe everything and install a shiny new ROM.

Now to relieve your memory issues now and forever, as Argedion suggested, partition your sd card if/when you are ready.:D

So wait, if I partition my SD card A2SD will store them in the partitioned space?

If you still have hopes of recovering what was on your SD card. MAKE SURE to make a full copy to your computer or external hard drive. Partitioning will format the card. You can then select what you want to go to your SD.

You can find instructions on how to partition back on old faithful-

And I would also add before partitioning, if you haven't already, update your recovery to the most recent Smelkus build. Your life will be much simpler;)
