Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Thanks for the update. Just wonfering if you found anything that pointed to the sticky toggles i had and the wifi issue i found what the task killer was killing to break data connection but still even when i turn it on it wont always work

I have updated the permissions for the full version V...

I can't reproduce your issue so it's hard for me to troubleshoot, I think the root cause or a lot of issues is that doing just the update doesn't clear out the data/cache partition and doesn't guarantee that the system files are in order, I usually am loath to do an update vs a full install because there is no way to have any control over what people have on their setup.

Let me get this release out, see if that fixes the issue and if not I am happy to try and do some one one one troubleshooting but since it's not a widespread issue I have to believe it's just your setup for some reason, could be partially my fault too with the amount of things I tried to do in the prerelease update.

Hang tight, I am paying attention and do see the question, I just don't have an answer yet and won't until we are able to test this from a fresh install.

I am running n00b V and when I install superphone II by theend of the day I cant get into location & security settings don't know what's going on

Ok, I know you guys have figured out how to treat the symptoms of the location issue in settings, I know it's been pointed out that you can reproduce the issue using fix permissions. I still wanted to dig in and find the root cause, fix permissions should not cause any issues and the network location apk is stock and hasn't changed in any release of n00b.

I may have found the issue, it could be the zipalign script... could I get a few people with the issue to try this:

open /system/etc/init.d and change permissions on the zipalign, just uncheck everything. Next go to /data and delete the two zipalign files (log and db)

Reboot

then let me know if you still see the issue, it fixed it for me so far.

I am wanting to see if a few others have the same result and want to test this over the next day or so to make sure this is the root cause.

OK so this is the fix.... i had the problem. i did this and it fixed it instantly. didnt even have to reboot.. looks like your fairly new here so if you have questions just ask and myself or someone else will reply. might not be immediate but i have notifications for this thread so i shouldnt be too far behind

Mr. Bobo having problems with v6 script. Everytime i run it, it seems to say that it can't find the init.d and can't locate busybox in the system/bin file, any suggestion, or is it even compatiable with rom?

may or may not be, I haven't played with it yet so I am not sure what it's trying to do...

I will be releasing V full soon, in that I have updated busybox and corrected some symlinks.

Also in V there will be an init.d folder for scripts to run at boot like swap, and an init.d2 folder for scripts to run after boot, I am finding some scripts work better after boot and some work better before, it's trial and error.

Another dev brought up using a sleep command which might work for pausing a script until boot, ie sleep (number of seconds). When I find where he posted what he said, I'll throw him some credit ;)

If you're having issues with loopysmoothness interfering with other scripts trying to run at the same time you can always add a sleep command and make it wait for a period of time before initializing.

There it is :)

Mrbobo, any chance that those of us already using n00b_v pre-release can just get a system update instead of a full flash from n00b_v final since we're already running the kernel and version?

no unfortunately this release has become too complicated for me to get my head around that request LOL

You could try doing a cwm backup and then an advanced restore of data though, I can't guarantee it will work perfectly, but it might get you close, I would recommend doing a wipe dalvic before you do your backup though so that doesn't get restored.

The cat is out of the bag already, but five has been released, the full install, flashable through stock recovery with no root or cwm or flashable through cwm!

Enjoy and post ISSUES here, PM with QUESTIONS/SUGGESTIONS to keep the thread clean!

I have it Mr. Bobo, it's flashed!! YAY!! Ok, im going to play with it for a while, set up my gmail again and stuff. I'm so excited!! Sorry guys, it's a girl thing, report back in later. Thank you Mr Bobo!!!

Hey all, first update to n00b V, I was this close to having this ready for the release but I had one issue and wasn't sure how to fix it, but Pattf had the answer and I present you a black themed messaging app. This apk is a modified aosp mms.apk and is themed black (inverted) and also allows you to take pictures and attach them at high resolution vs the stock one that made the pictures you sent almost unrecognizable.

I am adding this to the full V zip, but if you have already flashed it, here is a zip to add just this app: http://db.tt/E2TKIVxG (previous messages will be deleted, sorry)

This flash should work on other ROMs now.
