Here's another interesting question:

why are they using the 1GHz SnapDragon CPU, rather than going with the upcoming Cortex A9 dual core? And secondly, when will it be available in Europe?

Answer:

Easy answer to the first part: They finished design and manufacturing of the Evo 4G some time ago. Processor is one of the first things (if not the first) that you work from, and HTC uses Qualcomm processors.

As for if/when you'll get it in Europe? Your guess is as good as ours.

Speaking of AMOLED or TFT display. I took a lil peek over at the developer site and I noticed that the specs listed for the EVO 4G include a 4.3" AMOLED screen. Here's the link

Hi Sassy_Lina. Welcome and thank you for posting. This argument about AMOLED vs. TFT might go on for awhile yet, but in the official specs (see post #1) Sprint lists the EVO with TFT. I personally think that's a good move and I doubt that will change. What do you think?

PS - I'm not trying to scare you off. I just thought you must have some reason for posting that link?

I hear your reasoning, but before I posted the link I checked the specs list from the dedicated webpage @ sprint.com/evo and it only lists a 4.3" display. Just wanted to point out a lil bit of an inconsistency as far as specs. I'm at a lost now as to whether it will be either or. As far as superiority they both have distinct pros and cons which only lead to user preference. That's how I see it anyways.

P.S. Thanx for the welcome Bill!

There have been some comments in this forum about AMOLED being overrated, but AMOLED screens are ultra thin, ultra bright and they don't require a backlight to work, so they consume less power. These are all good reasons in favor of AMOLED.

At CTIA everyone keep saying how beautiful the EVO screen is, so it's hard to say it isn't any good. The TFT LCD screens are supposed to be better in the sunlight as well, so I'm not turned off to it, even if it isn't as bright as AMOLED screens are. As far as the thinness part, I think it has been proven that the EVO 4G is not thick as a brick.

AMOLED is useless in the sun, and as summer approaches, thats the number one thing I am thankful for, that this phone does NOT have.

I haven't had it for about three months but I believe I could talk and surf the web on my PRE at slower than 4G on Sprint, I think. PRE guys a little help???

I would talk and browse on my Pre all the time, so long as I was connected to my WiFi router. If I did not have WiFi, Pre could not phone and browse

And Bill listens to Jethro Tull :) Loved that song.

I think there is a 50/50 chance it gets an OLED screen and that is the surprise, maybe even a "super" AMOLED screen?:D

I think development is too far along for a change like that but I'd faint if it did have super AMOLED; that would truly be icing on the cake, err eclair. :)

i think it'd be a waste to put AMOLED on this thing, i mean if your putting a screen that big on there, the whole point is to be able to see it right? well i wanna see that beauty when i'm outside too... TFT screens look DAMN GOOD too, there is nothing wrong with they, i think people talk them down wayyyy to much. and 65k colors... that can be changed with software ANDDDD it's not like you can tell the difference between one shade and the next when there are 65k of them, it all depends how it is output.

i HOPE it is TFT as i wanna SEE my screen ALL THE TIME :)

Great post with common sense and practicality LOL

Speaking of the screens. Does the EVO have the vibrating feedback when you touch the screen or no? Maybe just the buttons at the bottom?

Yea it definitely will. Im just really hoping that the android market explodes with as many fun/clever/useful apps as there are in the appstore. It would be such a shame to have this kind of hardware, and still not have the apps to take full advantage of it

I think it will. I mean just look at the HQ Youtube app that is going to come stock on the EVO. I thinks devs will definitely expand on it.
