Root [UPDATED 8/8/12]Breath of fresh air....an update

New build: quattrimus-VS920-cm9-test4.zip
md5=6a2eb252d57018aa55b0c97194694b10

Changes:

* Fixed radio, hopefully.
* Partially fixed bluetooth which broke in test3.

Known issues:

* Bluetooth audio routing seems to be broken.
* GPS won't turn on.

Please test this and let me know what does and doesn't work. If nothing major is broken other than the above, it'll be a pretty solid alpha.

this will flash and run w/o adb correct?

Yes.

Instructions, for those not familiar with flashing ROMs (but you shouldn't be doing this anyway, since it's not even alpha yet):

1. Download or copy the zip file to your sdcard. Put it in the sdcard root, if possible, or note the directory where it's at (eg. downloads). Verify the md5sum of the file on the device, if possible (requires adb).

2. Download latest ics gapps from goo.im to the same directory. Verify the md5sum of the file on the device, if possible.

3. Reboot into recovery. Power your phone off, then hold vol-down+power until you see the scary screen. Tap the power button twice.

4. Do a nandroid backup.

5. Do a full wipe / factory reset.

6. Install the ROM.

7. Install gapps.

8. Reboot.

Radio works. Can make calls and send/receive SMS messages. However, 3G data does not. 4G data is presumably not working? I can't tell if the LTE radio is on and not connected or not enabled (I'm helpless without the 3g/4g indicator lol)

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this phone have *two* CDMA transceivers? A 1X one for voice and crappy data, a 3G one just for data (hence the call and surf feature that's not talked about much in 3G areas)?

i really hope i am not out of bounds with my post. i tend to speak out of turn... i flashed the latest pre-alpha test build here and i love it. the one big thing here that i noticed is that my phone does some funky stuff now when i try to charge it. if i leave it turned on and then plug in my charger, it turns the screen on and off approximately 2 times and then the phone says, "no service". i tried to charge it again with the phone off and it turns on the LG logo and doesn't seem to respond to any inputs. if i unplug the charger, i can boot up the phone and everything seems fine again.

maybe this is too soon to point out issues and i really hope i am not being offensive.

this ROM is so awesome. i feel like the only thing that will keep me from running this day to day is not being able to charge - yes, this pre-alpha test build is that good!

i know this is only a temporary setback and you guys will have it fixed. thank you, developers, you guys are STRICTLY TOP DRAWER.

i just plugged my phone into my computer with the USB cable. it says charging now and isn't doing any of the funky stuff it does when plugged into the wall charger.

happiness is a slightly warm phone with a fresh rom.

So, mobile data is definitely not working. Picture messaging is a no go also. Otherwise, this is an extremely stable ROM.

I'll concur with the reports so far. Voice calls work, wifi works. 3G/4G data and GPS do not. I'm on Verizon service with good 4G coverage, and no data service on this ROM (yet!). Otherwise, this is absolutely beautiful progress and I can't wait to see this thing 100% (or 99% ;) ) functional.

Looks like AOKP has sufficiently shuffled their repos on github that the ICS branch won't even checkout anymore.

Looks like it's time to jump to JB for both CM and AOKP.

I have an ace in the hole, in case all else fails: I have an old AOKP ICS tree sitting around. It was last updated 8/20, right about when they switched from ICS to JB development. Might build off that if JB turns out to be a problem. Heck, I might build off that just for old times' sake. ;)

On October 9, 2012, the Earth stopped and CM9 for the LG Spectrum was born.

According to wikipedia, tomorrow is the anniversary of the introduction of the LG Optimus LTE in Korea.

So I got ICS out just under one year from the initial hardware introduction. Maybe I'll have AOKP out for its birthday. :)

Wow, that was too easy... AOKP ICS built already.

I'm amped to try the aokp. I love minimal builds and like comparing them to tweaked ones like cm.
I wouldnt call AOKP a minimal build, more like another cm kang even though when AOKP started out they were going to build straight from AOSP, they now merge in most of CM's backend stuff at least, as well add in their own coding too. Not taking nothing away from em, just calling what it is... AOSP/CM/AOKP = AOKP ;)

CM = AOSP + added features.
