Yeah I poked around the keyboard settings, and then tried a live usb.... it is just acting up or something. I think ill try a usb keyboard and see how that works.

What LiveUSB did you try? Did you make sure your computer wasn't changing the locale randomly? Mine did that for a while, I had to manually edit the keymap of the distro I was using to be en_US. D:

It was a live Backtrack usb, and debian installed. I switched debian to and from a couple of different ones.
I've never had anything like this before, and I've had this computer for 3-4 years now...
It's weird, at first it was the F10 key. Then it was Alt, and then it was the SHIFT and 8 combo (*). BUT if you let go of * fast enough, it would not append the ENTER button to the combination! Weird.
I'm getting out my usb keyboard now. So I'll try that.
EDIT: I opened up this edit to say that plugging in the USB keyboard fixed it. That even with the keyboard removed, it was working. But now (~1 minute later) it's acting up again.
And my usb keyboard isn't a traditional one, it's one of those gimmiky rubber ones that you can roll up...... so it's no fun to use

When I go to work tomorrow I'm sure not looking forward to listening to everyone everywhere talk about who won the presidental debate & why. :hmpf:
I am looking forward to shaking my head at people that try to engage me in conversation about it, and walking away. Gots werk to do.

Starting to think I jinxed myself as ever since I posted my quoted above post my lovely wife has been talking non stop about the debate as we lay here in bed. Can't believe her Facebook account hasn't caught on fire yet
. About 15 minutes ago I texted her this link Politics and Current Affairs - Android Forums , let's just say I might be sleeping on the couch tonight after the look I got.

Kind of funny how the people that complain the most about their jobs...you know the type, "This job sucks, man I hate this place, I wish they would fire me so I could go somewhere else," etc. etc., freak out the most as soon as they hear of possible lay offs.
