Root [Guide] How to root the Wildfire S with S-ON

Well i guess i wont be finishing this.. I have no idea what to do now since i cant get passed the part where i use the command prompt..
 
Westman995, Do you remember what folder you put fastboot in when you unlocked your bootloader? If so, put the .img there. Then navigate there with the c prompt.

No i dont remember.. All i know is i unlocked the phone with htc last time i tried it. phone still says unlocked.

I have a folder directly on the C: drive, its named "android" and it has 4 files in it, the 3 i had to copy (or atleast i think thats what i needed to do) (adb, fastboot, adbwinapi.dll) and the IMG file.

No matter what i try on the command prompt it doesnt work. I really dont even know what the command prompt is supposed to do.. I dont understand how navigating to that file does anything.. So maybe thats part of the problem.
 
Ok nevermind, I got the command prompt part figured out.. Got the clockwork thing installed.. Now im working on the root.zip part

Dont know if it has anything to do with rooting my phone, but my screen wont turn on anymore.. I finished the root and only installed link2sd and updated superuser and thats all i did with the phone. Phone was working fine today, took it out of my pocket and the screen would not come on. I could see the LED flashing cuz i got a text.. took the battery out, turned it on and it powers up just the screen is black, doesnt turn on AT ALL. just the buttons on the bottom light up..
 
Nope the screen stays blank no matter what.. The phone boots up and everything, i can hear it.. Tried to boot it into hboot but just blank screen.. Not sure what to do now.
 
Weird.. I took the phone apart. Took the back cover off, just moved the main board around a bit and tried it quick before putting it together and it worked.. must not have a very good connection at the ribbon for the screen!!!

Sometimes when i try to turn the screen on i have to push the button a bunch of times, but when that happens the bottom buttons dont light up. And today when the screen wouldnt turn on at all, the lights were turning on. So it had to of not been getting a connection..

Anyways, how do i go about deleting things from the phone that i dont want? like apps..

I installed link2sd but i dont even know what to do with it. As far as i know, I want to make the sd card into two partitions. Well i did that using the computer, but then i didnt know what to do with it after that, it kept saying second partion not found..
 
I figured out how to uninstall apps using link2sd.. However, I still dont know how to get the two partitions working. I created two partions on my sd card, both are set to be "primary" and both say "FAT" on them.. Stil doesnt show up on the second one.
 
To remove unwanted apps use titanium backup. It on the playstore.
Unfortunately i know nothing about link2sd. :( Ill look into it and get back to you unless someone else has an answer. :)
 
The link2sd let me remove some apps, they dont really help much with space. I want to do something to free up more space on the phone so it doesnt always say its low on memory. Just not sure how to get that set up with link2sd
 
I have followed every step but now stuck in blank screen of CWM ... recovery ... Now is there any method that phone can be rooted with out loading root.zip in recovery ... means by adding root.zip through hboot or something like that
 
nice,can't seem to get this right-bought phone in sept 2012, htc wild s, unlocked bootloader from htc dev-no problem-but got to step 4 install cmw 5028 img-says acess is denied wtf? been trying 3 days but no go-really want to root just not working for me even w/great step by step instructions from you. info:marvelc, hboot-1.10.0001, microp-0354, ver.2.3.4, s-on, april 2012 virgin mobile. ps. went to website to dl 5028, do i dl superuser? pretty good w/computers but this has me stumped, also most post are late 2011, are these still valid? just plain stuck.

The Clockwork tab on the Rommanager site doesn't have anything under it - I had to find and download Clockwork elsewhere some chintzy looking site called 2shared). And I wonder if that's why I'm writing to you now -
Since rooting, I'm seeing a couple bugs. I (finally) got the SU Binary to update, but that didn't have any effect. My HTC weather app usually has a sound effect, but now it doesn't. Not the end of the world, (Okay, I love that sound effect, and I really want it back!) but I'm afraid it indicates something potentially more serious being wrong.
Also, when anytime the phone restarts, I lose my installed live wallpaper. It's also not in my wallpaper gallery, so I have to launch the app again. Again, could mean something I don't know about.
So I don't know if there's something I should do, or if I just need to root it again? I'm afraid to get settled into my newly rooted device, because I might just lose it all. (Although I did just find Titanium back up, so I might settle in anyway)
Another matter, I installed WiFi Tether, and it looks like it's working, but the device just continues saying "Connecting...Obtaining IP address..." and never connects to my wifi. Any ideas what's up there? I know WiFi is disabled with these phones, (one reason I rooted) But it's supposed to be possible. I don't know if there's anything else I need to do to make this phone do this, or again if it means I did something wrong in the root process.

I attempted to root etc? my htc wildfire s now when i turn phone on i get HTC sign and thats it? I can get to a boot loader screen and have selected USB Mount so that i can copy over boot.img files etc but none seem to work, ive tried the following PG761000 Marvel?, MIUIv4 Marvel, i put thgese folders onto the root of the sd card and select recover it sees the file then just sits there at verifying img.crc or similar! I would've thought that i should be able to put an HTC Wildfire s boot.img file onto the sd card and using the recover option of the bootloader select the img? Please help as im completely stuck and have tried for 2 yes 2 days to work out what is wrong lol!:mad:

Are you selecting fastboot on the phone before you flash the 5028 .img?

Only dl stuff from trusted sites. Cwm gave me problems. So I installed twrp 2.2. It says GSM. Only but it works great on my marvelc.

Did you unlock your bootloader? Did you install a custom recovery? What phone do you have? Marvel or marvelc?
