Is it just me or is the sgs3 for metro way too overpriced?

What i meant was i went on those sites.and for instance at t-mobile i plugged in 2 sgs3's (pebble blue) and off the top they said 40 bucks per phone access fee and also a min of 2g package for 140 a month for the 2 phones and then the taxes and fees so each phone comes out to about 110 dollars plus taxes and fees per month per phone. And as far as coverage, metro piggy backs off verizons towers anyhow.

:Di had metro and switched to tmobile their hspa is pretty damn good in my area its a lot faster than metro "4g" besides i got that $30 100 minute plan but you get 5gb on 4g speed and i hooked it up with groove ip so i get pretty much everything unlimited for 30 bux :D

Yup. HSPA smokes Metro's so called LTE. Moving to metro was the best move I had ever made until I left them :p

Uh no Metro does not piggyback off of Verizon's towers they have their own towers, they operate on their own frequency.

As for the T-Mobile thing, I don't know where you are getting the $40 access fee from. I put in 2 S3's did the classic 1000 minutes talk and unlimited text for 79.98 and then the unlimited 4g which is 30 per phone with a monthly cost excluding taxes, etc. being 139.98. But nowhere do I see an access fee.

to be honest where im at even the 3g from tmobile is faster so it doesnt make a difference to me

Location location is the key on this topic either way metro will be tmobile anyway lte of course being primary hspa second as long as lte is in place I'm happy lte signal is amazing

Also I read people saying they get crazy speeds but yet they and I are able to do the exact same things on the phone speed test are just numbers for me just my opinion

Good luck with signal inside buildings with HSPA

Funny you say that, I actually work in a warehouse and that's where I usually hit my 10Mbps where as I would have to go outside when i had my Esteem to make calls and browse the web. Got old really quick.

we'll all be on the same netwrok by summertime anyway. those who were getting poor speeds on metro made a good decision in switching. those such as myself who are getting at least 4mbps are sticking around.

some dont want to wait for the latest phones so they jump on another carrier and either pay the same for less service or pay more for the same service to get those phones now. metro will be getting some of those phones in 3 or 4 months and all of them when the merger is final and we're put on TMs HSPA+ netwrok. also VoLTE will be up and running on metro in 3 to 4 months.

bottomline metro customers will have better phones and a faster network within the next 8 months if not sooner. the question is are you willing to wait? i am, as no one is beating metro's $55 all-you-can-eat plan, i get good speeds with metro, and the Lg motion kicks too much ass.

That is weird friend and family with tmobile have had issues inside buildings but hey at the end of the day is what you are happy with that's the case lol see ya fuzz :D

To say speeds don't matter is like saying "I don't care if I can call people on my phone". Don't be like that. Apple users use excuses like that when compared to Android.

And yes location is the key. If your in a good location then it don't matter but be happy for the people that are in a shitty location for Metro and decided to get more for their money while still remaining inexpensive. We are all Android users and we are all on the same team ;)

Hey, I heard about the building thing and I was worried cause Im in a giant tin can all day lol. but I was honestly surprised.

And yes, at the end of the day it's all in what the person is happy with ;)

You are right, metros plans cant be beat. Hell. That's why I stayed with them for over 5 years. That's why I fought for them every time someone wanted to turn their nose up.

I had been shopping around plans for about a year leading up to me leaving but buying another phone was holding me back. The stars aligned and I know have the same feeling I had when I first joined Metro.

In the end, PRE PAID will always prevail :D

Prepaid all day my friend

I've said it before and I'll elaborate on it again... :p

Everything in the bitness wurl is cyclical. I think there's many who will say the phone size pendulum has started Into the area of Too Large for phones being phones as opposed to mini-tablets.

The U.S. telecom companies have been sticking it to every one of their customers for way too long now. I do believe other countries see much lower phone rates and internet costs than the U.S. and that's NOT because their governments subsidize it either.

I think the pendulum is going to start swinging BACK the other way in the U.S. and if the Big Three don't figure that out and adapt fast enough, they are going to get Paid Back by their customers for being stuck in the you know where for the past years with these overpriced plan rates.

I think you've only begun to see the START of people bailing out of contracts for cell phones.

Ok, getting a bit off topic here. Let's stop the HSPA+ vs LTE discussion, and stay on the topic of GSIII pricing.

Thank you.

I think the pictures of 38mbps down I've seen are done with WiFi and the WiFi is turned off before the screen capture is made.

This phone is absolutely not overpriced as it's the lowest retail price offered for this device anywhere but that doesn't mean it's the best deal.

This phone is absolutely overpriced, not only by metro by any means. It's just overpriced, period. The technologies inside are not that superior. It does not take samsung more time to make this phone than any other phone. They use parts which are somewhat standard. Yes some of them are better than in most phones but so what, it's technology and not some long complicated chemical process which takes years to make.

In a year price is going to drop tremendously and Samsung is still going to make good buck out of it.

Only reason why Samsung has made and will continue to make a good buck out of it is simply because it's a fantastic phone.

Would have been awesome if they had been selling it for only $400 but at least I got decent money for my Esteem so I'm happy

you could make an argument if you're gonna take the angle of whether the cost of making the phone reflects the price vs. what the going rate for a high end cell phone of contract is and what the market is willing to bare.

the nexus 4 is gonna go for around 600-650 if bought from a carrier but will sell for 300 less when bought directly from google. phones would probably go for a lot less if manufacturers sold them themselves.

i think it is simply because of the fact that you can t use it with any other carrier if metro were to unlcok it than it would be worth it its not a world phone its stuck on metros network so because of this i think it is overpriced
