In this day and age.......getting smartphones, especially ones like the HTC Incredible is becoming fairly a waste of money. Of course there are a select few who don't need data since they have wi-fi like 90% of the time, but most people don't and data is a must.

But now, there's almost no way of getting a GOOD smartphone without a data plan now, they're required and a must now.
i need 3 g for email and schedule syn on the run and some internet, not to mention android directions. ;)

what are the chances that when the Incredible is reviewed by the websites and such, and when they do, they say that it is a flawed phone, ...what are the chances that we are diappointed? ;)
I'm almost convinced the device doesn't exist...Verizon is letting little tidbits out about some kind of device that never made the cut just so their name will stay in the media during the iPad release and other carriers devices.

Just be be difficult: a 4GB chip + a 2GB chip = 6GB. But that's probably not likely here. The Incredible will probably get a 4GB or a 8GB chip.

Yes, 4 + 2 = 6, but it certainly doesn't equal 6.6 or 6.7. And, if you look at a few screen shots, they all say 6.6 or 6.7 which would imply that it has 8gb with things already stored on it (plus the fact that 1gb is never 1gb, always a little less).

8gb * .9263 (percentage of manufacturer's spec that can be used by customer because of bad marketing) = 7.41 gb - 512 kb (for OS and page swap) = about 6.9 gb. so if stuff is preloaded, then 6.7 is believable.

If that was true, a riot would ensue!

Apple damn friggin apple, they just love the attention..... Well you cant blame them, there is no one releasing a competitive phone right now, the EVO 4G has already quieted down so right now they can have at it.

8,000/1024= 7.812 gb

Most manufacturers list that the device memory as 8,000 so thats why I say what I did

8,000/1024= 7.812 gb

8 gb is a misnomer again 2^33 = 8589934592 bytes (8 gb). divide the total space on ur hdd by the manufacturer claim and see what u get.

Just activated an Eris and updated it to 2.1...I couldn't fend off the new phone bug anymore

Armbar, you got 2.1 on your Eris? I bought Motorola Droid (tired of waiting) and did an immediate update to 2.1, but didn't realize I could have gotten it for Eris too. I might want to switch if the 30 days pass and no Incredible.

Why would you switch the DROID for the Eris??

The Eris screen is tinyy and it's slow/outdated specs. Keep your DROID, you won't regret it in the long run, Flash player support etc....and if you root it/overclock it to 1.1ghz, you will be happy that it's just as fast as Snapdragon if not faster since the GPU is still a lot better than snapdragons AMD one.

Please don't take my tone as being a d-bag, but with all due respect, how is it better?

What OMAP on DROID?.........well it's got a dedicated GPU PowerVR which is still fairly good, of course Galaxy S has the new version which is just ridiculous fast.

OMAP and Snapdragon are based off the same architecture pretty much. Snapdragon pushed the CPU and you get the 1GHZ beast but it's (SOC) and the integrated GPU by AMD isn't so good.

The AMD in snapdragon may push out more polygons per second but polygons aren't everything.........the fill-rate on the AMD GPU is terrible compared to PowerVR and the PowerVR is an overall better GPU in the end.

OMAP of course has a slower CPU, but you all have seen the potential of it, 1.3ghz overclock?? of course once again mhz aren't everything and Snapdragon @ 1ghz is still a bit faster than the OMAP @ 1.1ghz but not by much, at least nothing noticeable. The GPU plays a bigger role and thats why i believe OMAP comes out as the winner over Snapdragon. Of course, if you don't root/overclock, snapdragon is still the winner.

Also, i think Snapdragon has already been pushed to it's limit in terms of CPU speed so that is why we aren't seeing any crazy overclocks on the thing, only that 1.13ghz overclock by one person and nothing else.

Hey guys I have been following this thread for quite a while now but never posted anything. I thought I would take some initiative and get in contact with Verizon. I sent an email in regards to their Twitter account and this is what I got back.

Dear Andrew *******,

Good morning. My name is Minerva and I am sorry to advise you, currently Verizon Wireless does not offer the HTC Incredible. I am unable to provide information regarding which equipment is being considered or approximate release dates, as this may raise expectations that may not be met. Below I have provided further information in regards to receiving information on new products.

Mr. *******, you may receive free e-mail updates as to when new products and services are available. To receive your free e-mail update, please click on the following link to view the "E-mail Updates" page of our website: email.vzwshop.com/servlet/website/ResponseFormOSPEJNlmhtLk_.2ef

There are several wireless phones being tested for functionality and reliability with our network. Verizon Wireless will not offer a product or service unless it meets the high standards our customers have come to expect. Verizon Wireless is constantly improving the services, features, and wireless phones we offer to our customers for their communication needs.

Then it goes on to tell me about my upgrade so I cut that out.

Yeah, they have a nice cookie cutter response for inquiries about non-announced phones.

yeah, that's pretty much what I got.. only my vz pr person never even mentioned the name of the phone... she called it, "the other phone you mentioned"

Good video, yea the Shadow is going to look like a beast even more now.

It's basically like a computer........CPU plays a big role, but in 3D intensive stuff, it barely helps. GPU's are where it's at in terms of games etc...

Snapdragon got fame because of its 1GHZ speed and fast CPU. Not many people know the real/true technical things behind it though. It's smart in terms of marketing etc....everyday people just looks at the mhz.
