Dorimanx kernel - Dummies Guide

7.23 is now up

As people were commenting on the frequency of updates, Dori is now only going to release on perhaps a weekly basis barring more urgent fixes.

Hopefully 7.23 will finally fix the cron job problem on ICS. (not that it affects me any more being on the JB leak)

Anyway, just for you ironass:

Kernel 7.23 ICS-JB-MALI (NO SUPPORT FOR SAMMY JB)!
Change Log:

*Updated Memory Sched SLUB to MAX from 3.7.RC6 kernel
*Updated all I/O Sched and tuned ZEN Sched.
*Added Missing Code for CPU idle stats calculation.
*Made Full Sync to BLUETOOTH Driver from ICS SAMMY Update 7, we had missing and broken code! now BT works perfect.
*Added JB LOW Sound FIX control (ON/OFF) to STweaks Sound tab.
*Fixed AD BLOCK Update, Manual and via CRON.
*Fixed TYPOS in STweaks descriptions.
*Fixed DALVIK VM RAM Tuning.
*Fixed CRON busybox detection.

Anyway, just for you ironass:

8/10 B+

"A good effort! Hawker continues to show improvement in class and has begun paying more attention although he still needs to address his giggling problem in Human Biology" :)

Battery life is one area that Jelly Bean, for me, is not competing with ICS I am afraid. Personally, I am getting less than half of the battery life on JB with the, almost stock, PhilZ kernel that I was getting on ICS with Dorimanx. See, here.

I am having the same results, but it really is only when the wifi is on. I know he won't be able to make a JB kernel till they do an official release, I sure hope its soon.

Yes, battery life is very poor with Wi-Fi on permanently on the rooted Philz JB kernel. I always say I'm not bothered about battery life, but even I'm noticing that its not good.

Folks, this is what Dorimanx posted on his thread on XDA. When people asked if this would mean support for our JB leak, other people vehemently replied in the negative saying that Sammy doesnt release source for leaks and this wont support the JB leak but Dorimanx himself has said nothing on the issue I dont know what this means but I hope for the best :) Thought I'd share it with you... :D

They have to release the source for the JB kernel soon after the firmware update is released; under the terms of Android's GPL this isn't optional.

Slug is quite right. I think the nay sayers are confused a little, as a leaked version, as we have now, of course they won't release the source code. As soon as it's released officially the source code will come with it.

ask in one mount (sic).

Mates, reproduced above is the interaction I had today with that most prolific of devs (but not the most eloquent, i am afraid :D), Dorimanx. In my eternal quest for getting the Dorimanx or Siyah kernel for our beloved Neatrom JB, I asked Dorimanx about updates on that front. His reply, while quite cryptic at first glance, is really simple. What he means is "Ask in one MONTH (for updates about the JB leak). Thought I'd post it here. :)

Dorimanx kernel v7.25 for ICS/JB* is up! :)

"7.24 DELETED! BOOT BUG.

Kernel 7.25 Uploaded ICS-JB-MALI (*no support for JB Leak ROM)

Change Log:

*Added ported by VOKU commits to preserve more battery on deep sleep.
(less wakeups)
*Reconstructed all MMC code! restored to normal, then reverted some parts from SAMMY-ICS SG2 kernel, then ported ALL from 3.4.y Android kernel [/B]"

Download, here.

My mistake!

Have amended my last post to read v7.25 and not v7.24, which has been withdrawn because of boot problems.

Need more coffee!

Seems like the pig has been swiftly replaced with 7.26

*Fixed BOOT stuck. (done 10 reboots all OK)
*Fixed transfers speed over USB.
*Restored performance.
*Removed some updates by VOKU, seems not stable.

Hi all. It's my first time in android forum and joined just because of this thread and love of Dorimanx kernel. ;)

This thread has been added as a link on XDA to new Dorimanx kernel support thread.

I'm not allowed to link here yet as it's my first post and I'm a junior member again:eek:

I hope to get to know you all soon and start comparing and sharing tips. :)

@ ironass. Thanks for making this thread and it seems really good and I'm kicking myself for not knowing of it tell know. I could have so many noobs here for reading all this time.

@ hawker a special shout to you as you made the fantastic gs2 wiper kernel wipe script and Rom nuke script which I have been recommending on XDA for a while so thanks for making that.;)

Welcome To TheForum :-)

Thanks mate. There's a like button here. Lol that's new:D When I saw a heart I thought I'm in the right kind of thread. In xda there only a thanks button.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll try to chip in here from time to time and I hope you guys visit us on XDA on the main Dorimanx thread ;)

By the way my tapatalk is not displaying my signature such as what rom im on ,kernal vesion etc.. that could be annoying , does it work here custom signatures on tapatak or not?

example below of what its meant to look like by me manually copy and pasting it in.

SIGNATURE

PHONE
: Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100
Main ROM : RootBOX 3.2 JB
KERNAL : Dorimanx 7.26 (always default settings and profile)
MODEM : LPS
ROOT MANAGER APP : SuperSu

Edit.

I did a search and apparently it's disabled here on this forum for some strange reason. I really find it useful if used correctly on tapatalk for development and support reasons to identify current Rom, kernel, modem etc...

So saves time in manually writing all the time.

Damn I really hope they change Thier minds on this.

Dorimanx kernel v7.27 for ICS-JB-MALI "BETA" is up*! :)

"Change log:

*Updated STweaks by GM to version 1.0
*Massive CODE update for RAM/SWAP from 3.7.RC6 kernel. (affect ZRAM + disk SWAP + Global RAM operations) (3 pages in GIT)
*Added FrontSwap function to help SWAP operations, has effect only with disk swap. (zram not effected)
*Updated STweaks config XML with descriptions fixed by big_bum!

now with ZRAM ON, i have no drain in battery, it's stable -25~-35mA on deep sleep with 300Mb ZRAM,
needed only if you have used the services.jar HACK to release the app limit,
if HACK not used, no need for ZRAM at all, it's will stay on 5~15MB max use, and will have no effect..

for me with 55 services/apps in RAM! (HACK used! for rootbox 3.2, i have the file if any one want.)
