Root Development slow down

andygu3

Everyone knew this day would come but that day could finally be here. :( Development on the Evo 4G has slowed considerably and I thought an influx of developers would come but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I still haven't moved on but eventually I will so..... here's to the amazing ride that the Evo 4G has been on and I'm thankful for the amazing developers that pushed this phone to limit:)

Feels like the Reloaded update was the last hurrah...:(

Not gonna use my update until Sprint brings LTE to my area, should be soon but, then I can't decide on which phone...

it was bound to happen at some point. as people move on....including devs as well......development will slow down as well.

and i too want to give a shout out to the amazing devs who have shown me what rooting has to offer. the og evo dev community was a community like no other. never will one phone get support from the devs as our evo. i lucked out when i bought the evo. i had no idea how well development would be. of course back then, i had no idea about rooting or what that means.

Would it be wrong to get a phone based on where AF (EVO 4G) people have ended up? No. You mean your gonna follow someone that you have only interacted with electronically? Yea

Wow, upgrading could be easier than I thought.

I stumbled upon this site about 1.5 years ago (doesn't seem that long) then took another 6 months before I felt confident enuf to root... Without the help and encouragement from so many people, (ocn, mizzou, rxpert, frenchy, mike stoney, argedion and many many others) I would still be on stock...:o This journey has been a hell of a ride and I have enjoyed it immensely. Kudos to all you guys/gals who given of yourselves so freely, I have learned a ton and I am truly indebted to all of you. Thx.

P.S. I can't upgrade till spring, just felt this was a good time and thread to get my comments on.:):):)

I'll take a brownie instead of a kudos bar:D. Just kidding thanks man:thumbup:

Cheers for the Evo 4g, a truly revolutionary phone, which (in my opinion) locked Android in as an OS that could (and eventually would) de-crown the previous king (we need not mention whom I speak of, I sure don't need a lawsuit :p)

 for the evo!

And I can attest that the Galaxy Nexus is a sweet device, if sprint hadn't booted me, I'd be enjoying the pure android with the rest of you (who have that), but I'm sure the LTEvo is a great device too (but I cannot personally endorse it).

I'm still hoping that eventually we'll all end up some phone down the line and it'll be a grand ol' Evo Reunion. In fact, Evo Reunion has a nice ring to it :p

Peace guys, take care of yourselves (and your evos!).

I'm sure they have an update or 2 left but it may be more for an aroma installer option but seeing that jamie has an evolte and rope has the s3, I wonder when an update will come. Either way, if you like aosp roms, reloaded is the only way to go for our aging phone. Mikg would be the only other rom I would recommend if you like sense roms

Mikg and my phone didn't play well together and unless a Reloaded update has more than the installer I don't see the need, up and running fine.

Jamie is on the Evolte huh??? That could be enough to sway me to stay with HTC when the time comes, unless something ridiculously ground breaking comes out soon.

8 core ground breaking enough for you?:p
Look out in Feb '13

Just saw this. The og was a truly revolutionary device. :salute: I wish I would've gotten it sooner to enjoy the full ride.

I've moved on to greener pastures now.

Cm10 is all I need to be happy ;)

What, has htc/sprint already forgotten about updating normal folks evolte to JB?

Nah, it'll get it, and supposedly soon.

The rumor mill was fun to watch, now its just depressing to see some of the things people fall for. The level of what is considered credible sources plummets when you get android enthusiasts involved

Supposedly the jb update rolled out to 25k devices 2 days ago and then HTC pulled it because they weren't satisfied.

Now the rumor mill says DEC 2.

Either way, I've been running decks cm10 since mid July.

Im on to the LTE now and can I had a LOT of fun learning and playing with my OG. I have a brand new, virgin OG sitting in my desk just in case. There isnt as much out there for the LTE as there is for the OG. Im sure it will come in time. I just hope the LTE can begin the same legacy that the OG has/had. The OG was the ONLY phone I have ever kept for more than 2-3 months. I had mine for over 2 years. It was truly a phone that I loved. I even think about going back to it.

I hope the OG devs bring their skillz (and mikestony :p) over to the LTE platform.

I doubt the lte will have a legacy anywhere close to the evo just for the simple fact that there are phones better and also at the same level as the lte. Remember, when the Sprint og evo went on the market, it was the best of the best. We hadn't seen anything like it before and developers flocked to the phone. The lte, on the other hand, is just another top tier phone and devs are now spread amongst the great phones

I'll just say that nexus devices get incredible support.

yeah i think that my next phone after i'm through with my evo lte, will be a nexus phone just for something other then htc(unless the honors go to htc for the next nexus).

but to get back on topic:p
i hope that a new group comes in and jump starts the development again. it does seem to come in waves.

After my n7 I'm considering hopping aboard the nexus train on my next device, but sprint needs to do a better job of updating them and they need to get sd card slots before ill make the jump.

I'd probably jump ship to T-Mobile $30 unlimited.

That's what I did and haven't looked back. :D
Still using my EVO as a wifi only phone w/GV and GrooveIP

Sprint got jb before Verizon. And ota updates don't really matter. 4.2 is already pretty stable on the gnex with no ota in sight.
