***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Every day I search the web for "HTC Incredible." Then I try, I really try, to read what's there. But the results are (1) almost ALWAYS quoted from this forum, and (2) written so poorly they cause actual brain pain. English is like any other code: If it's written poorly, the brain hitches up trying to figure out if that "to" that seems out of place is supposed to be "too" or "two." (Humans are just lucky that wet ware is more flexible than hardware.) If the code is written badly enough, the program gets misunderstood or a crash occurs (reader leaves).

Why are we so great at code but getting our a$$es kicked in writing and reading comprehension?

How does this relate to the Incredible? Looking for a better keyboard experience. I have a Storm 1 and I am sooooo over it. Hate to type on this d--n thing. Pain in the .... you know.
 
My money is still on sometime between now and NFL draft. That's within mid April timeframe NKT believes, and also this new info about the Council. If nothing is announced by the draft, then I'm through waiting.

Oh yea, and for Sprint roaming. I heard they roam on Verizon towers for free?? my mom said her friend got charged?? I thought you only got charged if your roaming was more than half your minutes?

In regards to the Gov discount, I get a 15% discount through my Gov employer...but I am unable to find where the discount actually comes out of...I believe it just applies to the Primary line, and then applies to the monthly access charge only. Hope that fills you in a bit.

His friend on the VZW council said that they will be getting the HTC Incredible sometime this week for testing. IT'S NOT BETA TESTING. He specifically said that they are getting the device to test RIGHT BEFORE RELEASE!!!!


Im pretty sure this goes in line with what Brian has said about getting devices to test right before they release the phone?

Ya I have been lurking over at N1forums for a while and Miami is pretty reputable and is a MOD. I believe him.

Sure you can. When you use the internet you transmit a ton of information about your client (browser).

For example, in my HTTP header right now I have the following information: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6

Sure you can tweak your browser to represent a different client, but tethering alone is detectable.

Ok, let me say this. Will we(the verizon wireless customer council) get the Incredible? Maybe, but it hasn't been announced to us, one way or the other. However, I will say this, I'm excited if we really are gonna get it lol! However, I don't believe that we've ever gotten a device BEFORE it was announced.
 
Well.........doesn't look like im getting Verizon Wireless anymore. :(

No discounts for a lot of things so im going to have to go with another carrier.

ALL THAT FOLLOWING FOR NOTHING!!!

I'll still keep you guys posted on any info i get, i'm going to talk more with Miami and he said he will keep me posted on any info he gets on release dates.

Been nice knowing you guys, will give you all the information i get.
 
Sorry if anyone already posted/asked this, but has anyone else noticed how verizon still has the expired (ended yesterday) enV touch deal up on the front page? Seems kinda silly for them to have up an ad for a deal that ended yesterday.

If they did a "oh, one more thing" thing, announcing an iPhony for VZW might be their tactic to keep people that are currently considering a new phone to get them to hold off until theirs hits the VZW shelves. :confused:

I don't think that site would have any announcements - someone said before (falls into line with what I kinda do sometimes when I'm designing/testing a site) that this is a staging are so they can test code live on the web, before migrating it over to the regular public facing site. Sometimes ya' gotta have it live to see everything properly, especially like with PHP, since I don't have a full LAMP stack installed on my lappy....
(... I realized after I posted this what you did with the last sentence there - heheh - gosh, I wonder what dumb company that could be....)

Not on mine- has the HTC Touch pro which ends on 4/8
 
The only thing Incredible about this phone at this point is that humans will evolve with telepathy skills before it's released.

Miami1963 isn't on the council himself.

He's getting all this info from a friend of his who is on it i believe. That's what he told me.

I'm a DoD employee and I get 15% off of my primary line only. Mine is a little different because my plan is an alltel one that lumps voice, data and txt together, so I get 15% off of $89.99. I added my wife to my plan which was $40 for the extra line and it provided unlimited txt and data while she shares my 500 minutes. I pay about $130 after taxes and fees for unlimited data and txt on 2 lines, a pot of 500 min to share, and 12 free numbers. The discount only applies to the primary line (or whichever line belongs to the account holder).

I'm only guessing here, by I bet the individual MAC address is available in the data traffic. In addition, each device would probably have it's own unique subnet ip address, correct?

If so, then the carrier knows what MAC is registered to this acct, and they could probably see that multiple MAC's are sending/receiving data...

So, am I close? ;):)

Not a network expert by any stretch, just putting together bits of info discussed over time.
 
Yea, my mom gets a 20% USPS discount off the primary line. This discount doesn't apply to data plans though so that's the bummer and no go.

Discounts only apply to services $35 or more........im gonna have to go AT&T or Sprint.

First of all viperBOY. Don't go around knocking indirect stores. For one, I own my own business within a Verizon Wireless Premium Authorized Retailer. In FACT, we are the 5th largest handset seller in the country. Guess who we are behind? The big four corporate stores. We go to great lengths to not only do everything a tech store can, we do more. We wear professional clothing, suit and tie, as opposed to polo's.

Second, we have the ability to go on our own to business's (which is what I mostly do) and make sales with them. I have personally delivered phones to clients homes(after I got off work at 9:00p.m.) when my store was out of a certain phone by going to another store to pick it up. I've loaned personal BlackBerry phones as well as other type of phones to clients for a period of time (last one was a BlackBerry for four months) because for whatever reason their phone is not ready for upgrade and their phone is broken.

Third, unlike a corporate store, we do not take their name, hand them a number, make them wait in an expanded waiting room, and wait for who knows how long. We treat everyone that comes through our doors like they own the store. Not saying corporate stores do not either. Just saying I hear it all the time from people coming from those stores.

I could go on, but you can get my point.

Sorry for the OT to the others on this thread(which is great by the way, keep it up). I feel the need to defend myself when I here someone trying to disgrace what I do.
