Root [FAQ-GUIDE] ClockWorkMod Optimus Elite

The /system/etc folder needs to have r/w permissions. Go to /etc then press the little -r button on the lower task bar and mount as read/write. Then retry renaming.

hmm.. my task bar does not have the -r option.. i actually downloaded a different root file explorer... for some reason i was not obtaining full root access via total commander. i have renamed the file.

Threw in some new formatting alterations that should make things a little easier to read. Also, a few days back, I added a complete OE ROM list.

Just keeping everyone updated.

Yes, the /system/etc. Rename the install-recovery.sh to install-recovery.sh.bak (it makes it a backup, just in case you need it). If you cant write to the /systemm/etc folder you need to long press on it and set as r/w (read and write).

If you don't change that file name, it will rewrite the stock recovery when you reboot.

Same thing happened here only there's no sign of any install recovery.sh so I'm assuming I'm finished

What do you mean stop usibg whatever I'm trying to use? :screwy:

It sounded like you were using ROM Manager. At least it did to me. ROM Manager will brick your phone if you use it. There is a stickied thread regarding this fact.

The guide is written so that everything you need to use, and everything you need to do, is completely covered. Using anything outside of what has been recommended can be very unwise (as roughly half of all of the information came from giantpune, who ported CWM to work with our phones in the first place), and could leave your phone, as was mentioned earlier, functioning as nothing more than a paperweight.

So, why isn't this thread stickied?

I've considered PMing D-U-R-X about having it be stickied for some time now. I think I will do so later tonight.

That is correct. If the file does not exist in the directory mentioned in the guide, then you're good to go (CWM has been installed).

Hey I have rom manager instaleed however I havent used it but I did use total commander and I got as far system/etc b4 not being able to find any mount R/W or install recovery.sh is that bad

Sorry missed the end of you post nm the above

Nandroid is a backup made through ClockWorkMod. You should make a nandroid before you flash anything with ClockWorkMod.

SO should I go ahead and get that MSL Code now and more important is it required for me to get the MSL Code Just curious.

You don't need it.

Yep. That's why it's recommended, but not required :)

THANK YOU and last q for a bit what is nandroid is that like Titanium Backup??

Too add to that; there's actually a section in the main post about what it is. It backs up all of your /data and all of your /system both apps and data. And the boot .img. And other stuff. It goes well beyond what TiB does.

Thank you onto installing your Rom Artine I jave sucessfully installed clockwork mod recovery and I have performed a Nandroid Backup

I'm glad it worked! Now you are able to explore the world of Custom ROMs freely :)

I've just finished uploading the newest build about 5 minutes ago. Try downloading v2.0.9Ac from either DevHost or Mediafire (the links are in the OP).

Oh your Brilliant I have been sitting in dunkin donuts for almost 4 hours preparing both me and my phone for your rom and its finally time as soon as I finish the download.
