DDDDARNIT!!!!! I was going to go workout. Must.... pull myself......away from....th th...thread.

So let me pose the question....if the Verizon iPhone happens to get officially announced today (or any time between now and April 29th), will you be at least somewhat hesitant about the Incredible? I mean, I can't stand Apple and I think iPods/iTouch/iTunes have major flaws in both functionality and usability, but they are everywhere and somehow even though I resisted, there are 5 iTouches in my house and I wired in iPod integrations into both my wifes and my car stereos. So I guess the iPhone would be more seamlessly integrated into our existing technology in the house/auto, but man, I want the Incredible to be a slam dunk over the iPhone so there is no hesitation.
Despite their ponytail / prius driving fanbase, Apple is every bit as money hungry and consumer screwing as Microsoft....I'd love to see them get crushed. I wonder how the mainstream user would compare the two phones....
Funny you should mention that. I thought for sure it would just be os announcement today. There is a thread on another board where a higher up from At&t is arguing how Verizon won't get a Iphone plus how crapy Verizon is compared to at&t then today I see this post from him. Not sure what he means because he is not responding to any one specifically though I called him out on 2 or 3 things that was a flat out lie lol.

as much as i love my iPod touch ... still there is no way I'd be enticed by a VZW iPhone.

the apple "do it our way or no way" mentality i just can't take. yes, they make some nice products ... but i prefer freedom.

Well Verizon's 2MB download speed vs 12MB from my router.

So will I get the same download speed as my computer, or is the speed based on something in the phone.

your bottleneck will be the CPU's ability to process the data coming from the WiFi. The data stream will be much faster than the phone can handle so you will probably see 3 to 4 Mbps in actual use.

HA! Phone Arena updated their specs on the "upcoming for verizon" page for the incredible to read that it's coming out on 4/25...They've hardly ever been wrong. If it's on Phone Arena I believe it! ;)

My source told me almost a month ago that the Incredible was going to be released the last Sunday in April (April 25) so unless I hear a different date from VZW I'm going to believe him, he hasn't been wrong yet that I know of.

a $600 retail is common for smartphones, so I'm pretty sure it will be $199 with a 2 yr agreement.

I have confidence in the upcoming reviews, since Engadget did not make the dreaded iPhone comparison in their HTC Desire review. (Also, hoping that the 2 yr pricing is $200 after $100 mail-in-rebate as I have to pay one yr. pricing for this phone!)

Yes, I agree too. I expect similar pricing as the Motorola Droid because the Droid is also listed as a $599 phone retail. I think the $299 with a $100 mail in rebate sounds extremely reasonable. But, I would make sure to buy it from Best Buy so you don't have to deal with the rebate, and just pay $199 and out the door.

IIRC, the wireless N standard includes multiple antennas, so in addition to the greater speed you should get much improved range and connection stability.

I highly doubt Apple will announce new carriers today. They'll do that in June when they announce the next gen iPhone. And the rumors are the VZW iPhone wont be out till ~November, so I would still pick up the Incredible or N1 and then pick up an iPhone in Dec or Jan '11.

I don't think the Incredible will be an iphone killer. But I do believe the android OS to definitely put a huge hurt in them.

I agree, Apple's style would be to "accidentally leak" info, that the iPhone is coming to Verizon. That's how they market.

I've been solidly in the Incredible camp since the beginning, but I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't entertained similar thoughts as above.

The ONLY thing tempting me about the iPhone is the abundance of aftermarket integrations, as you mention. If they could come up with an iPod adapter for Android phones that would you use all the iPod crap that's out there in a transparent way, I would go Android and never look back. If somebody builds a Windows Mobile VM or emulator for Android, that would be the final nail in the coffin for me personally.

Ok,
Really STUPID Question. This appears to be an awesome phone from the shape (unless it changes, which I doubt) to the sense UI, but it appears that in the 553 pages of text that no one seems to have mentioned how well the RADIO works. I had the 6900V (if I remember correctly) and the radio was not great. So how is this one.

Does NKT have an idea. Kappy, MM, have you heard from any of your sources about it.

I think the one thing the Incredible will do is make the growth rate for Android even more stunning. Apple will have about the same uptick with Android growing at a crazy rate.

But you'll still be forced to have the data plan...

yes .. of course. i was just saying that a lot of people (me included) painfully pay the $30 per mo data plan when 90% of the time they are in a wifi zone.
so ... the faster the wifi chip, the better.
