Ohhh okay, I was under impression that if you need to run the 2.89, 1.58 was already needed.

I personally would just run the ruu for whatver contains the 1.5 hboot. With the rezound,Folks doing it on gb seemed to have a lil less trouble with the wire trick than those doing it on the ics leaks.

The 3d may be different,but there's no advantage to being on ics for s off,and I assume you'll want to be back on 1.50 to restore your backup. :)

Actually, I had thought I WAS Scrooging myself :o when I was restoring my Common Sense NANDroid (from 1.5), but everything worked out just peachy, and have no problems. I just had it stuck in my head to go to 2.89 since I'm not quite ready for JB just yet. And I actually LIKE Sense, and there seems to be more ICS Sense ROMs to play with than JB! :D

But, yeah, since DS seems to prefer the JB ROMs, it would make better sense (no pun intended ;) ), for him to stay on 1.5!

Gonna have to wait for another day since my laptop is acting up. JB sense roms? :p

Yes I much prefer a jb rom, preferably Paranoid Android :D think I may go through withdrawals If I downgrade to ics :p

Of course, it's too late for me to try a new ROM tonight, but I'm thinking I might try Viper's tomorrow. PA is too much new trick for this old dog just yet! :p

I did the same. A few years back I had uninsulated wire coming out my ears now I have to worry about which wire I can sacrifice. So I thought why not a paper clip? Tried it and it worked first try.

Too bad about my SD card. Got wiped... lost a lot of good memories.

Yeah I used a bread tie over my buddies house, he wanted s-off and his collection of usable tools was non-existent. Fortunately it being a picnic I saw the wire tie on the hot dog buns and said what the hell. Amazingly the wire trick worked the first time. :p

Well, color Brian a prophet! ;) I've been flashing one (or more) a week since Thanksgiving! Waiting to make sure PACMAN comes up stable with working bluetooth, but I may have have to wait and see if I have yet another bad digitizer... :(

Hmm if you have another bad digitizer (I hope not) i would worry that something else is causing it to go bad...

I'm not particularly worried as the last time, I ordered about the cheapest I could find, with "tools" and adhesive. This time, I found one for a few dollars more, from HTC, so hopefully my quality will improve. If not, I'm sure for upgrade in April! :D
 
Can someone please post what STOCK ROM they are using? I am ready to go forward with the wire trick just can't get a stock rom to boot. Do I need to re-lock first, then flash a stock rom? Thanks

BTW. I am on S-ON 1.5 hboot unlocked.
 
I flashed the deodex one on accident. You are quick Brian, I found the right ROM, realized I flashed the wrong one. I went back to EDIT this post and you already posted a solution. Bravo sir.

EDIT...Flashed and still bootloops
 
If you plan on sticking with ICS and JB ROMs only, no GB, then can you get by with S-ON with hboot 1.58? I'm not all that keen to get into custom kernel installations at this point.
 
Actually, I've seen most JB ROMs require that you NOT be on 1.58, but that could have changed since I last looked. But if you're satisfied with ICS, you're golden. GB is, as you mentioned, verboten.
