Root [GUIDE] System Backup/Restore for LG Motion 4G (root nand)

FIRST STEPS:
Before you begin, your phone should be rooted.

Next we need to install 2nd-init to your phone.

  1. Download the file lte2recovery.apk to your phone
  2. Next you will want to use a program like Root Explorer to copy the file to the folder /system/app/
After you do that, it should appear in your apps drawer (you may need to restart your phone to see it).



RECOVERY BOOT:
To reboot your phone into Recovery Mode-

  1. Run the app "LTE2 2nd-init Recovery"
  2. 2nd-init Recovery
  3. Reboot Recovery

Your device will immediately reboot. IT MAY FREEZE on the LG Logo. Just press the up or down volume keys to view the recovery screen.



WARNING:
If you want to experiment with this tool, it would be wise to first see the path of those who ruined their phone before you. AVOID "Reboot Recovery" in the Menu options. It will factory reset/erase your phone.



CONTROLS:
Recovery Screen Controls:
[HIGH]Vol Up - Move selection up
Vol Down - Move selection down
Power - Choose selection
Back Key - Go back
Home Key - Toggle Internal/External Storage

Quickly double select "reboot system now" to reboot.

BACKING UP:
You will need about 2GB of free space to backup your system.

  1. Use the Home Key to select- Current sdcard: External
  2. Choose the "backup and restore" option.
  3. Choose "backup".
It will immediately begin backing up your system. All backups are saved in a folder named "clockworkmod". All backups will have an incorrect date of 1970.



RESTORING:

  1. Use the Home Key to select- Current sdcard: External
  2. Choose the "backup and restore" option.
  3. Choose "restore".
  4. Choose the backup you want to restore.
  5. Choose "Yes - Restore"
Your phone should begin to restore from the backup. Do not attempt to stop the process after it begins.



EXTRA HELP:
If you have done something that causes your phone to continuously reboot, then you will need to unbrick your device before you can perform a backup or restore.

Pull out the battery on your phone to power it off. Then follow the unroot/unbrick guide.

Well im never really signing in , but i come here often . Well im just wondering if theres any rom for the lg motion that has data working . I simple just love the fact that you guys are so smart and can actually do something like this . I really appreciate it . Well if there is something out there working already , id appreciateif any of you guys would be so kind and send me a link .

There is a de-odexed ROM here:

It is fully functional as far as I know.

The CM10 ROM is just an alpha ROM in early stages.

Thanks for the quick reply . I just did this one other thing . I changed the device auto storage to my external from internal . So i was wondering , if i factory reset , will it wipe my external sd card in that process ? I dont want to wipe my recovery , unless you guys can provide a backup custom recovery witch i would be really grateful for . Or should i just unstill that script and go from there . Im trying the install the rom that is in the link you provided me with , but unfortunately i was spooked to read these words "If you install this ROM , it will format your system partition, extract the system folder to it , create the needed symlinks , and set the proper permissions" i have a clue of how to find some of these things like the permission options , but i have no idea what everything else is . I have no clue what to do to with them and how to find them . I hope i made sence . Thanks for your quick reply and im glad you are friendly , helpfull and on top of things . Much appreciated .
 
The safest thing to do before doing a factory reset is just simply remove your sdcard from the device. Then there's no chance for an sdcard erase accident.
 
I try installing the lte2recovery app it say there was a problem parsing the package
What can be the problem and yes phone rooted and I try file manager and root explorer any help thanks
