Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Posted in the sprint forum, but I guess I'm officially allowed to post here as well. ;)

I buy/sell used phones in my free time as sort of a hobby, and picked up a gnex today. Its supposedly got some software quirks so I'll get plenty of time to root/ROM and most likely activate it for a few days before it before it finds a new home. :)

When I was a teenager, I used to play a lot of street sports. I was playing street hockey and got a backswing stick in my face that broke my two front teeth. I needed root canals. That was over 40 years ago.

I don't like these crowns anymore because my gums have receded to expose the original teeth so it looks like there is a black line above my upper two front teeth. I hate it and have had that for decades. I'm glad to be able to clean that look up for good.

I may only need an implant and a new crown or two new implants. Likely only one implant. I am actually looking forward to this. I put it off for years because I was paying for college for my daughter.

Ouch! Same deal here, except I fell on a school bus and hit that omnipresent metal bar with my two front teeth. 2 root canals, 2 crowns. Then 20 years later, same story as you. 2 new crowns to sit "higher" and gum surgery to lower the gums a bit. Second-go-around wasn't painful as much as tedious.

Good luck! I'm sure it will turn out fine.

Have you though about adding some vampire fangs?

I always heard voice majors hated oral surgery. Good luck tomorrow Steven!

Well got my wife her Tahoe today. She's pretty happy. I guess I got a brownie point.

Yeah, but that for their version that you get on contract. Since it will be available on the play store, according to the rumor, that version should be unlockable for free.

Big red never ceases to amaze me how they screw over the consumers.

I know its just a rumor, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised

The worst part is that it doesn't surprise me either. I've wised up to this and can't wait to leave, unlimited be damned. If only breaking my contact and finding two nexus 4s wasn't so expensive and hard to do.

Good luck dread!

I am as cynical as most when it comes to Verizon, but I'm finding it hard to believe they would be that ridiculous.

Yeah, I don't buy any of that about the Moto X going to Verizon. Can't see them doing it. Maybe, if it was only sold for a $600+ price tag, but even still....

I dunno, Moto is VZW's bread and butter. Plus the DL article said bloatware is still allowed. I don't see Verizon turning it down.

Go get 'em Dread! FRY 'EM! Who cares they're just fighting a parking ticket... :p

:D

Moto X looks like a dream phone starting to take shape, same way the "Nexus Prime" did 2 years ago. Never thought I'd even SEE an unlocked Moto phone on Verizon; that they're going to charge a monthly premium for the unlocked version? Isn't that some sort of FCC violation?

Morning all...
Have to agree on the ridiculousness of the $15/mo from VZW... But I read it as... If VZW unlocks it for you, there will be a $15/mo charge...

Anyways... Hope everyone is doing okay. Have fun on vacation/jury duty Dread... And Steven... Ouch. Hope it goes well and quickly for you!

Have a great day all!

I don't know if I trust a carrier to unlock my phone... Seems like a brick waiting to happen! Don't worry Verizon...just don't encrypt the bootloader and I'll unlock it myself :D

What! How can they even tell without you going into the store and being like here check out my unlocked device

My guess is that there will be a tool, similar to the htc dev or asus unlocker apk, that has the encryption passcode built into it, and after you consent, sends information about your device back to a server. Could be the serial number, the esn, maybe both. Since Verizon already knows your esn, all they have to do is match up your active esn with the one in their database and presto, they add the charge.

The thing that gets me is that their going to sell it for 300 on contract, but yet it's going to be available on google play at roughly nexus pricing, and if you buy it from google play, you can unlock it without the charge? Seems contradictory to me.

I agree, and if this comes out in July, like the rumor predicts, that will be right around the time us launch nexus users' upgrade becomes available (Aug 15th). Maybe it's time for another epic pre-release thread :D :p
