Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Morning all... Gotta head out early this morning to get the car registered here in TX... Still trying to get through the just moved checklist.

But also started to get migraines about a month ago... Everyday. Not doing so hot this week. And today already I have a headache... Not really encouraged about how the day is going to go. Oh well. Gotta work, so hopefully some coffee and some ibu will work!

Anyways... Happy Hump day to all!

Always nice to not have pain, Steven! I had a similar experience with my wisdom teeth. I took one heavy duty pain killer, and realized it was over kill, took Tylenol the next day and that was it.

Ryan, sorry to hear about your headaches, although moving is always very stressful. Hopefully as you get into the swing of things it settles down!

So anyone tried a farm share our something similar? Our company is having an event and it seems interesting. Basically a bag of local, organic produce every other week for $20 bucks.

We do something similar. It is kind of neat as you don't know what you are going to get. We end up trying new recipes to use the ingredients that we wouldn't normally buy. We get a box every two weeks as well. We started weekly but found we throwing too much away.

Yeah that's what I see happening too. Trying new recipes etc, as well as expanding the variety of foods we eat. Plus it's nice to support local businesses.

Well, this is unfortunate. I was about to try flashing another kernel just to see what would happened, and decided I would clean out some old nandroids that I have no intention on restoring to (had like 8). Well, wouldn't you know it that the phone didn't read me hit delete backup, and going as fast as I normally do, I ended up restoring a backup from like 4 months ago. What compounded the issue is that I didn't backup my current rom before I went on a deleting spree. Genius, eh?

Thats unfortunate. I nearly flashed a rom on my gs3 the other day wihtout backing it up again. so if anything went wrong i would of had to back it up to an old nandroid. Luckily i remembered just in time.

In the ongoing Apple vs. Samsung case...Samsung is looking for evidence of Apple selling an iPhone before the FCC cleared it. I guess this would be bad for all their(Apple) patents.

Hey peeps! Just checking in to see if I was crowned a Guide or a Mod yet....

How you been?

Great! Am going on my annual Colorado trip this coming week, and my wife is actually coming along this time so it will be awesome.

I skimmed a bit and see that you've had some oral care? Nothing too serious I hope.

Still rocking my Galaxy Nexus. And since good old Verizon is going to take away my unlimited data if I upgrade to a subsidized phone, I figure me and Nexasaurus Rex will be together for a long time. At 100GB per month, I can't afford to look at greener pastures. :p

Checking the Pebble forum to see how shipping has started. I'll likely be a while since I backed nearly a month into the Kickstarter. :(
But, psyched nonetheless! :)

Morning all... Been a busy week at work. Some good changes and announcements... Some frustrating. But overall a good week so far.

Our car is officially Texan, so that's one thing checked off the list. Next step.. Drivers licenses...

Also getting ready to order a couple of new hard drives for the systems at home. Time to finally go SSD on my gaming machine, and we need some more storage for the server... Apparently 32tb is not enough... Lol

Good to see you Han, glad you are getting your $s worth out of the Nexy! Jeez that's a lot of... Data....

Also, we did the farm share for several years, ended up doing twice a month because once a week was too much for just the 2 of us. My parents and a couple of friends do the same thing. It's great to get local foods, and always a surprise!

Happy Thursday all!

Good morning,

Yes, that is a lot of data isn't it! I have been downloading a few shows here and there, and it really adds up! But at least we've been able to catch up on Fringe (we still have yet to watch the series finale, so if anyone knows anything, keep your zippers zipped!)

Speaking of the Nexy, it's a good workhorse now, but I am amazed at how little time I spend on anything Android related anymore.

My windows PC finally bit the dust (again). I've been so sick of PC's with their viruses, etc., and I wasn't that big a fan of Windows 8 (navigational nightmare), so I decided to join the dark side and get a Mac. I bought a 2012 Mac Mini, got a nice big HD monitor for it, magic trackpad, and a nice bluetooth keyboard, and about a month in, I can't believe I hadn't switched before! I recently helped someone out with their PC, and using the mouse felt like I was pushing a brick around, ha ha.

I'm also addicted to my iPad still. But don't worry, unless Apple comes out with a $200 5-inch jailbreak-ready iPhone any time soon, I'll be sticking with good old Nexy.

Oh, by the way, remember my marble surgery from last year? Well I just found out it didn't take. (No, we're not pregnant, thank goodness; just went in for a test.) I don't know if I can go through that again.

I have been thinking about getting a Mac mini as well.

1) It's cheap
2) I'm not feeling Windows 8
3) I'm done trying to learn linux and find workarounds for the stuff that just doesn't work.

As far as having to go through that surgery twice...I don't know that I would do it a second time either. Yikes :(

How did you find out it didn't take without your wife getting pregnant (which is a good thing BTW :))? I think they certified me as "good to go" within 1-2 months after surgery.

I'd definitely recommend the mac mini. I upgraded the RAM to 8GB (it's upgradeable to 16), which was very simple, and replaced the internal hard drive with an 180GB SSD for apps and Parallels (I need windows for work), and I keep all my media, documents, etc., on a 3TB external.

It's way cheaper than the iMac, you get to upgrade your monitors whenever you feel like it/can afford it, and if you are in love with the iMac screen, you can get a Thunderbolt display if you feel like shelling out $1000 (totally overpriced; I'm very happy with my $200 HP 23" monitor).

As far as surgery, well, I went in for a test about a month afterwards, and I was certified that I was shooting blanks, so all was good. They told me to come in another month later for the second check, and I put it off til about a month ago. Apparently on the second test, they found out that one or both tubes have apparently fought their way back to life (apparently I'm a quick healer) and have turned the assembly line back on again.

They say that it's rare, but it happens. I can go in for a second shot, where they will cut a bigger chunk out and burn the ends, and with a greater distance between them there will virtually be no chance that they can reconnect, and it's free of charge.

But my question was "Well why the heck didn't you do that before? Didn't you know they would want to reconnect?" And their response was "We've only had this happen twice in more than 12 years".

All I can think about is that burning smell, and I just don't know.

I just don't know.

Good info on your setup, thx! I have a 5 year old machine that I built myself that is not running anymore (hard drive failed) and I just haven't replaced it because it needs updated. The wife and kids don't like not having a "den computer" but everyone has a laptop so it's not a priority.

...

Yeah...and the Doctor can go to hell with his "you'll feel a little pressure"! That's the wrong place for ANY pressure LOL! I'm sorry you have to go through that twice...that just sucks!

Bummer! I had mine done a month ago. Have a couple more months till I find out, but that would suck so bad!

Han, I can tell you all about the ending of Fringe :)

Great show. I'm going to miss it.

No! We actually have 3 episodes, including the final 2-parter, to watch. I think we'll knock them out this weekend.

Great last season so far.

Just 2 things have always bugged me about it, and I highly doubt it gets addressed in these last 3 episodes:

1. Why just drop the parallel universe? We got a bit invested in them, and then poof, nothing? (I'm thinking there is a 65% chance we seem them again before the end)

2. This is rather obscure, and I doubt many remember it, but there was an old episode, maybe even back in Season 1 or possibly 2, where the very last shot of the episode is of a room in a lab somewhere, and what appear to be many "Peters" lying on tables, like clones. In the background, "Life is but a dream" was playing. I always thought we'd find out what that meant, but it was just dropped. (I'm thinking there is 0% chance we get that addressed before the end).

Oh well.

And don't you say a single word!!
