Root Boot Manager Pro issues

that takes care of getting my original rom back but what about my rom in slot 1?

Not sure yet. Seems like I remember reading somewhere (probably on the boot manager site) that that restoring a nandroid won't always work. Maybe it had a problem with that particular one?? I'm not sure.

You could try flashing it from the zip if that doesn't use Aroma.

If you just want to see if Boot Manager Lite will work for you the nandroid backup linked in this post should work. I've got AOKP 3.5.2 as a phone ROM booting that in slot1 without any issues.

I think it may be flashing the zip that doesn't always work since BM doesn't support Aroma and some other things that are done in the ROM installations. What I've read says to try the nandroid restore if the zip file doesn't work, including some of the posts in the thread I linked on XDA.

Unfortunately, the forums for BM seem to be down so there's only informal support available at this point. :(

I just tried this app out based on this thread, and I want to say thanks!

This app works well for what it does, but I would like for it to issue something into the boot sequence where the rom could be selected on boot, much like GRUB.

I also need a faster MicroSDHC, because it runs slower than molasses, albeit with full functionality.

Wish they'd open up the source to development, because I think some marked improvements to functionality could be made.

Not exactly GRUB, but it does install a widget that lets you select the ROM you want to boot without having to start the full app.

It's the 4x1 widget.

I can recover. Ironicly it boots to the splash screen. Then reboots to recovery and my backup works fine. It's like boot manager is saying " ya I screwed up .. Here's recovery...". I tried putting a nandroid in slot 1 and a rom

I just can't find out why the phone ROM would be unusable due to extreme lag. I even put the governor on performance at the highest speed of 15xx something. And everytime it boots it will freeze soon enough until I do an advanced restore of my data. They say this app does nothing to the phone ROM itself but that's total bullshit.

Did you wipe the slot before trying to flash a fresh install in the slot?

I really don't have many ideas left. I've not ran into any issues before with fresh installs or backups... So my experience isn't much as far as troubleshooting any issues. :/

You may have more luck posting something in the Android Lounge, rather than a device specific forum. You'll have a broader audience.

I'm not sure what to say at this point either. I've started from scratch several times using different phone ROM's and never had a problem as long as I don't try to put JB ROM's in the slots.

About the only other thing I can think is start completely from scratch. Delete the entire bootmanager folder from your sd card. Setup the phone rom again. Then try flashing your rom again... :/

Sorry we couldn't get you a definitive answer. I hate when that happens :(

Yeah it's okay. I'm just glad the app was only 2.99 and not a lot more. Do we have any Cyanogen mod ROMs that would work on it then? Like CM9?

I haven't even gotten as far as booting the ROM that I put in Slot1. It installs fine (haven't tried installing from nandroid) and then freezes at every reboot on the phone ROM. I wipe the boot manager folder every single try and reset up the phone ROM, and I wipe the slot, and have tried installing the ROM without wiping anything and wiping everything when it asks to wipe data system and cache. Each time I have to advanced restore data from a nandroid that doesn't have boot manager installed. The ROM is JB 4.2.1. I know it won't boot. But it's strange as to why it affects me from using my phone at all and making it lag til it freezes.

It doesn't. Are you sure you're not setting the CPU speed too high? Many kernels will allow you to set a speed that will still crash the phone. I would leave the CPU at stock speed until you figure out what's going on first. Also these may seem like dumb questions but I have to make sure: What class is your SD card? ARE YOU S-OFF? Are you installing add-ons? I have had trouble installing add-ons unless I boot first and let the ROM set in, then boot back to phone ROM and install the add-ons separately.
On a separate but related note, I'm sorry that taking my recommendation has given you such a headache and I wish I could help you out more with it, but I've never had any of the problems you've described - or any, for that matter. But let it be a lesson, in the future always try the free version when available to test compatibility before purchasing. I used Lite for over a week before deciding I wanted additional slots. Did you ever try a GB ROM like we originally talked about?

I'm on the Power kernel that comes with UnlockedPotentialHD so the highest is 1586 I believe. Which I've got CM10.1 running at 1.8xx perfectly fine on the same phone. I'm S-Off. The add-on's weren't gonna matter since I found out it wouldn't boot the 4.2.1 rom anyways. :) I just can't seem to figure out why it screws up the phone ROM leaving it unable to properly function. O.o I haven't had a chance to try a GB ROM. But don't I need to go through the fix everything thread to use Sprint ROMs?

But don't I need to go through the fix everything thread to use Sprint ROMs?
No.

That thread was made pretty much obsolete by the OTA update that VM released in November. My recommendation would be to run one of the all-in-one files in joe-bloe's fix everything thread after gaining S-OFF instead.

Before I rooted (like a week ago) I installed all updates. Prl, profile, firmware. All the HTC software was updated. So what would the stuff in Joe_Blow's thread do compared to Leslie Ann's thread?

Near as I can tell it would basically simplify the steps in her thread, but personally I still prefer her method.
