The consensus is that the phone will accept 32GB cards, but 16GB is/was the largest available at the time of printing, so that's what the guide says.

There are some people who think maybe it's capped at 16GB, but those people are guessing. Others are emphatically stating that it does accept 32GB. It's still up in the air, but the 32GB crowd is MUCH more certain, abundant, and generally more knowledgeable.

Thanks! I was thinking it would have to be 32gb capable too but it just seemed weird that the specs on the droid and the N1 state 32gb. Being a newer phone I would think that if it was capable that it would state that. After all they have been talking about 32gb micro sd since about last November.

Another though could be that they had performance issues with the 32gb + 8gb onboard and took performance over the extra gigs. Suppose only time will tell.

I wonder how hard it will be to remove that VZW logo on the front of the phone without scratching it. I hate how phone companies put such gawdy branding on their phones.

Sure I guess it would look a bit sexier without it but I'd rather have a Verizon at the top than a Sprint, ATT, T-Mobile or some other crap provider.

in the "new" (im not sure if its the same one that was leaked) user guide, straight off verizon's website, still says it has 802.11n. any thoughts?

It also says 576mb of RAM........, additionally is the phone going to have multitouch???

When you pre-order at BB do they take your phone line info keeping you from using it for other options or just require the $50 deposit?

No. They took no phone information. I only needed to pay the $50 and put my name, address, and phone number on a piece of paper. They put that paper, along with my receipt, into file with all the other preorders. The $50 gift card, if I understood correctly, is attached to the phone hardwareand can only be used to buy the phone (I could be wrong about that though...it doesn't look any different than a normal one, it says "Happy Birthday" lol)

what if you get neither insurance?? do you have to get it serviced at Best Buy if you buy it from there or can you take it to verizon corporate?

If you get no insurance, then you'd be SOL. I had a phone once that didn't have insurance and the screen cracked....they said, "sorry, you don't have insurance, there is nothing we can do"

And now for the pic of my receipt.....

That's a good point with the possible performance issues. I suppose we'll find out within the next few days once the review embargo is lifted. However, until then, I'm going with the assumption that it will accept a 32GB card, and that it's too expensive for me to buy one that big right now anyway.

The Best Buy insurance is $9.99 per month. If you need a new phone, there is NO deductible, and the phone you get is NEW not a refurb.

Doubtful, given that the release packet shows this:

These are standard RCA plugs. You will be getting no high-def goodness out of these - at least not to whatever display you are connecting to. You could potentially record video at 720p and have it restricted to the phone, but given that the phone has TV out functionality, this seems unlikely. I know people have said that we might get 720p recording with a firmware upgrade, and they may be right. BUT if we want to send 720p video to an external display, it will not be by firmware update only. VZW will also have to release a hardware upgrade - that is, a cable with one end being a 3.5mm headphone jack and one end being either composite video or HDMI (the latter of these two options seems particularly unlikely).

For now, the cables shown above have us sitting on 480, people. And unless I missed it, these were the only cables capable of AV transmission.

Be happy we have TV Out. That fact alone automatically makes the Incredible superior to 99% of devices out there.:D
You should be able to transfer the higher quality off the SD card directly to another system for editing and transfer to DVD.

Couple of questions

1, will we be able to walk out of best buy with this on Sun?

2, If I dont preorder, wait tell the 29 will I be able to get one on that day?

3, is it better to buy from verizon or best buy?

4, can best buy port my number from an alltel to vrz?

I am going to cancel my alltel account and get an incredible, but I am hesitating preorder because I want to port my number over, its my bussines number and I CANT lose it!

I posted this in Teegun's thread on porting from Alltel to Verizon, I may as well post it here. :)

First of all, find out if you're an Alltel customer that's been converted to Verizon. If your bill says Verizon Wireless, you've been converted. There are some Alltel customers that haven't been converted. Some are going to be converted to AT&T, some are going to remain individual little regional pockets of Alltel (don't ask me how or why, that's what I was told during what little Alltel training I received).

If you are a converted Alltel customer, it's easy. You most likely are eligible for a new phone, whether by time elapsed in your contract or due to promotions (trust me on this one, VZW is doing their best to get legacy Alltel hardware out of the system so they won't have to support it). Just upgrade your phone, the new contract is a VZW contract, and it will just go into effect overriding (in essence) the Alltel contract. You won't have to pay an ETF, or port your number. If you're a converted Alltel customer with legacy hardware, and you're not eligible, call into customer service (*611, option 4, then say customer service) and you can most likely get some sort of help in getting the phone.

If you are not a converted Alltel customer, then you're going to have to do it the hard way, port your number to VZW when you purchase the phone, and the port process will automatically disconnect your service with Alltel. You will need all of your Alltel account information with you when you port/purchase. By the way, this also applies to anyone else porting from another carrier to VZW to get the Incredible.

true, but as I understand it, if you lose your phone they don't replace it.

figure i'll pop in and say thanks for all the information another day gone to preorder. and for some reason im unable to post in the chat room so night all be smart

and that for me would be a biggie

and what's that mean steven? if you buy it from big red and lose it, does that mean they will replace it? I don't know if vz or asurion covers this?

please enlighten me if I am wrong or coming from a "different point of view" :)

Here's some bigger pics, I don't mean to claim these as my own. They came from Techland but I already cut most of the watermarks off. Never thought I'd need to post them. (Sorry TechLand)

How about a clear cover for the back. The guts look like steampunk.

I'm not impressed with the protruding camera lens but I'm sure a hard case will alleviate that problem.

I don't think anyone is actually thinking of buying a 32GB card right off the bat anyway. Don't they cost around $200 currently?(that's as much as the phone itself with contract!) I for one will wait maybe a year until the price drops to something reasonable. Besides, High storage densities freak me out...
microsd.png
Edit: I found some for around $100 but that's still a lot (can I really fill 32 gigs in 2 years?)
Edit again: that was for plain old SD cards not micro SD D'oh.

I'm planning on blacking my phone out, I believe. I'm going to probably paint the red ear piece screen black. It wouldn't be hard at all. Just mask the rest of the phone off with masking tape, buy some black automotive paint at Walmart (or some other store maybe Autozone) and paint it. Sounds easy enough to me. Plus, it would make your phone more unique. That's probably what I'll do.
I'd try a fine tip perm marker before spraying any paint into it. Spray paint sounds a little too agressive to me. But then I'm a fraidy cat! :)

lol I'd just like to know that I have the option when they become more reasonable.

I just wanted to hop in and dispel this myth.

Black Tie Protection is great for the fact that there is no deductible and they cover any and all damage to the phone, including water damage.

However, they DO NOT automatically issue you a new phone. When you bring your phone in, BBM will issue you a loaner phone. They will then take you over to Geek Squad to send your phone off to attempt to be repaired by whichever vendor they happen to be using at the time.

The vendor will then (over the course of 1-4 weeks) attempt to repair your phone. If they are unable to repair your phone and have a unit available, they WILL send you a refurbished phone. If, after 30 days, they are unable to repair your phone and no refurbished unit is available, you can visit the store and they will do an equipment swap that day for a new unit.

I am very familiar with this process because I have had to send my DROID off for repairs twice and have been without it a total of 7 weeks since purchasing it. I am now beginning to have a problem with the micro usb port, so per their lemon policy on the third return I have the option of switching to another phone retail -> retail.

Needless to say I will be switching to the Incredible which seems to be a more quality phone. I am also looking forward to the faster Snapdragon, internal memory and Sense UI.

Come on little DROID, hold together until the 29th!

I had some fun with the BB ppl yesterday, I picked up all the smart phones and used every adjective but incredible to describe it and finished each sentence with "but I want something that's just incredible.".It was so annoying they brought out some literature on the actual beast. Pretty stupid but I was board.

Anyway, I hope an extended battery is available same day.
