Root [VIDEO GUIDE] Test Mode/No service fix (# to Hidden Menu)

My phone started this 2 nights ago 5/8.. sometime around midnight or so. I woke up and my phone said "Searching for Service" Now, I didn't leave the coverage area nor did I alter my phone in anyway within 24 hours of this happening. I called Metro's 1888 # as she attempted to guide me to rescue and needless to say all I got out of that 25 minute phone call on my laptop on speaker phone (since I have no other phone lol) Was for her to put a "Ticket" in and a Technician would "Get back to me within 5 days" Now, Here I am days later STILL without service.. But still have Data?!?! I followed as everything stated above.. :pcguru: BUT my 64bit computer won't allow me to get past the .dll point.. Please help me since Metro clearly can't... My daughter is in the middle of a medical emergency and this is the only way her doctors have of reaching me to schedule her surgery :(

This is because You are not registering the .dll as an administrator. here's one way to do it by opening cmd as admin.

1) Move the VS910.dll file to your desktop (it is found in the LGNPST.zip Download in the OP), after extracting it's in the folder named "move these files to desktop"

2) press the Windows Start button, type cmd in the searchbox, Right click the command prompt in the search results "cmd.exe" (black Icon with white writing) and click "run as administrator" or "Open as Admin"

3) in the cmd type "regsvr32.exe C:\users\*YourUserName*\desktop\VS910.dll" press enter.

as long as you type the correct path to the VS910.dll file. you can place it anywhere. Not strictly on desktop.

there should be no error when it works right. just a confirmation popup window

Thanks for helping out. I never come in here anymore so my help beyond they thread itself is limited.

Okay I'm going to be mean for a second because I think I need to get this across. This is not directed towards anyone in particular but it's something that people need to know and understand.

Here we go.

I cant answer all these questions some of you guys are posting or Pm'ing me about. What's aggravating is that all of the questions some of you are asking are within this thread.

I think I've done enough in creating this thread and offering up a TON of tools and detailed explanations for you guys. I even added the video of me going through each step just to give you guys that much more info.

With that said, PLEASE do not PM me about registering the damn .dll files or the Test Mode file wont open or this or that. ALL OF THE ANSWERS ARE IN THIS DAMN THREAD. I've put it all together for you so if you can't make an effort and do the research yourself for the answer then I have nothing to offer you. Now if you have made a valid attempt in your problem and you still need help then I have no problem offering help. 99% of the issues I get asked about are computer issues. This is something I cannot fix or offer advice on. I dont know why the Test Mode file wont open for you. If the .dll wont register, there's a million other people that have had that same problem and have gotten help within this very thread. So skip back a few pages and find the answer for yourself.

With that being said, I'm sorry for being blunt but 90% of the people that end up with this issue fix it themselves without ever asking a single question. Why? because everything that's needed is right here from which most of it is the OP's. I don't get on here nearly as much as I used to so Pm'ing me is pointless and I don't want you waiting for an answer. So put in just a tiny amount of work and find an answer to the problem yourself. I have yet to see a question get asked that didn't already have the answer within this thread so I'm willing to bet that if you have an issue, the answer is right here.

I'm already saving you guys an ish load of money by offering you the tools to fix it yourself when Metro and LG doesn't even have a clue that this problem even exists, so do me a favor and put in a little work yourself. K? Thanks :D

Would you like to send me your phone to fix?

AND, like I've done for some other people on here. If you dont want to fix it yourself, you can send it to me and I will fix it for you. Just cover the shipping to and from which is about 12 bucks total and throw me $20 bucks or so for my time. Usually I will have it done the same day I get it so the turn around is the same day. I have no problems doing this for people. I've also re rooted and installed a ROM of the person's choice while I've had the phone for no charge. So if you dont have the time and or you dont want to mess with it, I have no problems fixing it. Since I dont get on here that much and if you think you might want this option, it would be best to Email me at RobertLandrum13@gmail.com. Don't email me though unless you are sure you want to do this. I'm not going to go back and forth with questions about this or that. Only Email me if you are ready to send it. From there I will give you my paypal info so you can transfer the money over. If for some ungodly reason I cant fix it, money will be sent right back to you. Many people can vouch for me and that I'm a trust worthy person. $20 bucks isn't worth the terrible karma that would come if I stole it from you.

I think I've said all that I need to. Special thanks to those that have jumped in and helped these people that are too lazy to find the answers to the problems themselves. Note, I am not talking about any in particular so before you come back at me for thinking I'm being mean to you in particular, stop, cause I'm not. This is for everyone.

As always........I love you all.

I read everything in the thread and tried running the command prompt and I still get an error message. The error I get is "The module C:\users.......\desktop\VS910.dll failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependant .DLL files. Access is denied" Also when I was installing the 4 files from LGNPST the 3rd file upon installing gave me an error code 1721. Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated as I really can't afford another phone right now

Edit: I got things to work and now I'm stuck in the updating of PRL. I can't seem to find the right download. I searched everywhere can someone direct to the correct area to key in PRL? Phone is reading my number and evrything now. Just need the PRL. Thanks

Doesn't let me place calls yet. I get a Network Busy everytime

Got it working again. Had to get my MIN number changed. I flashed right files online then Metro refreshed my phone. Running latest 3032 PRL and phone works better now

i am having issues installing LGNPST. i have user controls set to never. i get this error message when trying to install.

"the wizard was interrupted before LGNPST could be completely installed.
your system has not been modified. to complete installation at another time, please run setup again."

Hi nikkielove:)
Windows xp? May be a bad/corrupt download. Try deleting the files..run a disk cleanup on your PC. .and try again.
How have you confirmed the phone is in test mode?

GBiggie,
I was finally able to get it installed. Program is runnung. when I got to file and input .dll I'm unable to get the "phone setting" button to appear. not sure what I did wrong now.

thanks.

Sounds like you opened up the wrong version of LGNPST.

Did you open if from where it was installed at? C:/programfiles/.........

The phone setting doesn't "appear". It should be there all the time.

One version of LGNPST does NOT have a Phone settings button at all and this is the one I think you opened.

Hey,
what operating system are you using? XP, vista, 7? if you have a 64 bit OS your problem could be in registering the VS910.dll
try that step again, and make sure there's no error message, just a confirmation that it registered.

Damn 4 days without a phone? I went through almost 2 before I got it fixed and working again. The steps are foolproof and self explanatory. Have you tried from scratch?

Don't open it within the folder you downloaded that had the exe's in it.

I wrote the directions out to where anyone can do it even those that aren't technology inclined. That's why I added pictures and even a video. Don't let all the directions and writing overwelm you. When you break it down, it's not that much. I can run through the entire process in 10 minutes or so not including reboot time.

Take one step at a time and be patient. It's really not that hard as long as you can follow directions.

Your other option which I included in the OP, is to send me the phone and I can fix it for you. I have no problems with doing this. I've done it several other times with other people that didn't have time or couldn't figure out the process. If this is something you would want to consider just PM and we can go over what needs to be done. All I ask for is for you to cover shipping both ways obviously and $20 for my time. I'm sure other people would charge a fortune but I've done this so many times it doesn't take me that long to do it. Once I get you phone, I would ship it back out the same day so the turnaround would be fairly quick and depending on where you live you might get it back within the same week.

Just PM though if you want to consider this and I'll give you all my info to contact me easier. I don't get on here that much anymore so I might miss your reply here.

Good luck :)

Yes and it works perfectly until after i put in the Metropcs SPC in for the phone . then it goes to the next option but it doesnt open up fully.

Make sure nothing is running in the background. All firewalls and antivirus programs are closed out. Close out LGNPST and re open it. If it still occurs then I would suggest uninstalling all of LGNPST and then reinstalling it.

You did reboot after installing LGNPST right?

I've made sure that everything was closed . Ive reinstalled and installed LGNPST It just seems like for some reason that the screen just is really short and the bottom half is cut out .

is there any possible way to use LGNPST or to get out of test mode without using a usb cable? i got a bad usb port on my phone

I'm still having trouble loading up LGNPST correctly . I'm having issues with the screens loading up correctly.

I mean there's nothing I can do. Look back through all the posts and see if someone else had the same problem.

I can only give the tools and explain how to do it. I can't fix why the program is acting up. Have you tried it on another computer? It's probably a computer issue being that I've heard nothing of this until now.

Also, a screenshot would really help so people can understand what you're talking about.

Okay to get a better understanding of what BossMan809 had to do to stop the network busy issue (What i'm currently dealing with) How do you, as he said he did, just refresh your MIN number and flashed what files online?
