I'm in the same dumb phone boat, and Google Voice is what i'm planning to use for texting. I'm pretty sure this will work and we won't have to get a text plan.I'm coming from a dumb phone and have turned off texting because I kept getting junk texts. Do I have to pay $5 for texting, or since I have Google Voice, will that be sufficient? i want to begin texting, but don't know if I will use it that often.
Thanks to everyone for all the information on the Incredible here on this thread. I've learned a lot from your posts. I hope I can figure out this phone (I'm a phone technology challenged user) when I get it. But I'm sure I'll be able to find the answers here.
As far as front facing cameras are concerned. Here are my thoughts...
Good idea in theory, Bad idea in the real world.
First the good.
At home you can talk to the person face to face.
Maybe show them something that pictures just won't do justice.
The real bad.
The moron people that will use this while driving. You thought texting was bad you ain't seen nothing yet.
The moron people that will use this in a grocery store not paying attention to where their cart runs your ass over.
The people jogging using the camera at the same time. Can you say Car food.
Is the inc. screen the same as the one on the nexus one??
Can i please get some good Screen protector recommendations???
Can someone tell me what does the extended warranty cover vs asurion?
I know the insurance covers lost phones and has a deductible, but what is the extended warranty?

All the reviews are NOT saying the phone has poor reception. I've read 5 reviews and watched 3 videos, and all but ONE said the phone had very good reception, including being able to get data in an underground subway on a moving train. All the reviews are saying the phone has poor reception? anyone know if this is a hardware or software issue?

so i guess my question is, if they just match it and you dont use your NE2, then would it still be there if you wanted to get another phone?
I have a corporate discount, but I don't believe the discount applies to the phone, only accessories and the plan. I am also a secondary line on a family plan.
I received a corporate phone discount when I bought my Storm. Not sure if that's what is happening here though.
Does anyone know if the extended life battery will be ready on launch day?

yeah i saw that in one of the reviews, it showed on the screen "mobile broadband connect" i wonder if thats tethering, and you have to pay for it. maybe nkt or anon can shed some light on this.
Are you logged into my verizon when you look? If you just navigate to the phone on the site with out being logged it, it gives you the $269.99 price. Once I logged in the price changed to $229.99.

What part of OKC?I'm going to a Verizon store in Oklahoma City on the 29th when it opens to get my phone. I'll be in OKC visiting my family. So, that's where I will pick up my Incredible. I have my full NE2 ($100 off) and I'm out of contract. So, that means I'll be getting this phone for $99. Can't wait! I considered pre-ordering like you guys did, but I figured I'd get it just as easily by being at the Verizon store right when they open on the 29th. I'm one of those guys who spent the night in front of Verizon in a downpour of rain to get the PS2 when it came out. haha
Thanks for your responses! I logged into my account and still get the same pricing. I do get a State of CA discount through my employer, which unfortunately doesn't appear to automatically tie into my personal account. So I went through the State of CA VZ website, but the phone isn't showing up on that site yet. I'll try to get a hold of our sales contact and see if I can get the $229.99 pricing.

Most likely, the one reviewer I read who mentioned poor reception, hadn't done a *228 to update programming and location on his phone yet.![]()
