holy crap so byod is good to go so far?

also speed test plox :)

He said before he was only getting 3 down 1 up. (Don't know if that's changed any since they got the issue ironed out.)

If you PUT $600 in my hand Right Now and told me to buy a phone (Metro or T-Mo) today with it, I wouldn't until I could see some speedtests of BOTH Metro and T-Metro in my area. Heck, I'M getting His average T-Metro speeds already on average on Metro here is Slowcala.

Homey ain't "upgrading" to get to exactly where he already is right now.

I highly doubt he will stay with that speed but i would still do the byod program just to be able to get much better phones that metro isn't available to get..aslong as its not like sprint.. My bro has a note 2 and still getting only 3g which is horrible..

There is nothing wrong with my Spirit.

I'm averaging 2.5-4 now which is semi-ok with me. It certainly does with that speed all I need it to. My speeds at least for the next year are likely to only go UP as more people latch on to the T-Meto teat.

My area was one of the last to get LTE with Metro, I assume we'll be one of the last to get refarmed or get T-Metro.

Metro is going to have to give me a Good Reason for any "upgrade" and so far, I'm not seeing Any good reasons to For My Area.

Just received the "official" bulletin from corporate, which conflicts with the earlier "secondhand" report. Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, and San Franciscoe will begin selling the Metro-branded GSM phones, but not the BYOD program. Sorry.
Thanks for the info. Nothing changed in regards to the GS4 though right? Its release will still be limited to the BYOD and the new markets getting Metro GSM phones right?

Right. Stores/dealers in those markets could possibly have them July 3, and Metro will advertise them on the website July 8. SRP:$549

In Metro's system, the phone's IMEI does matter; the SIM card must be paired to an IMEI in order to work. So even if a phone is unlocked, if its IMEI is negative filed (AKA, blacklisted), forget it.

Yeppo!

When I got my Motion, I got it from Best Buy. No Joy on the over the phone activate, they KILLED it as Soon as they got my IMEI # from me. There was some glitch between BB and the Mothership where the phones weren't jibbing up with the listed IMEI numbers and *Metro would not go another nanometer forward with the activate*.

BB and I were on a 3-Way with the Mothership, we even suggested just getting another Sim card out of a new phone box at BB since my phone was newly fully set up. Nopeski can do. I had to take the phone in and get a refund. I then went the next day to the nearest Corporate store for my 2nd Motion.

Those are not sim cards, and the lte cards with current/cdma metro phones are not interchangeable from one phone to another, the cdma phone esn has to be entered into the network on the carrier end.

Now with my tmo account my sim card is the one paired with the network.
I can (and have) pull my sim out of the phone and put it into another phone (in my case from a tmo phone to a nexus 4 so both phones work perfectly on this network) and powered on and had signal and service the new phone showed my phone number everything.

The speedtest results were pretty crappy. 3mb down 1mb up.
The process is pretty quick. T-Mobile phones don't need to be unlocked.
But I did anyway. I went to an authorized dealer where my wife works.
Regular price is 10 for sim card and 15 for esn switch. All she did was put the phones imei number into the asap system under byod and the sims # and put the sim card in the phone turned it on and it worked right away. No programing over the air or maual.

First off thanks for you input, first hand feedback is what this thread has been lacking all along.
This does sound like a pretty simple process, although i'll speculate on something and say, that those $15, sounds like your typical mon-and-pop 'fees', in fact, i think if i went to a mom-and-pop shop right now to switch my device, i'd be charged with one of those 'fees' that could be avoided if i called *228 lol, i could be wrong though, and this could be a new standard fee on new BYOD transefer/setups, anywho
Let me ask you a couple questions.
1. What phone were you using prior to your swap, and what speeds were you getting on that? if you had the same 3/1 speeds, then its just your area.
2. Would you say this swap could be done over the phone? as in someone calling in and doing the setup part, provided, the sim gets somehow shipped to the customer first ofcourse.

As i stated earlier im not in one of the 4 BYOD ready markets, and i want to attempt connecting a Tmo S4 in my location, this information would be greatly appeciated!

Well then.

You should be the first to clue LG and Metro in on this misusage so they can correct themselves on the brazillions of documents where THEY call it a Sim card.

I was wondering to why they refer to it as sim cards when they are not

Well the NEW LG Optimus L9 is a GSM phone requiring a SIM card and its now available on Metro, however it does not have LTE radio.

Could that be the phone metro and lg are talking about?
If not then yes they seem to have a mistake in the literature it happens.:p

Well I was browsing the metro web site and came across this little gem

http://www.metropcs.com/metro/stati...title=keepyourphone&int_camp=byod-cat-a-spot#

Once I have my MetroPCS SIM Card can I change my mind about which phone I use it with?
Once you have received your activated MetroPCS SIM Card, you can put it in any compatible, unlocked GSM phone you choose. However, the phone must accept the type of SIM Card you have activated (Standard, Micro or Nano). Please keep in mind that you will need to see a store to pair the SIM with the device.
now this is either just a money maker or they want to avoid user error with this (for them) brand new system. And honestly with the fact that none of the reps do anything with apn I got to think its the former.
Or in reality it can be done on your own, because no pairing is really required after the first one.
As I mentioned before tmo does have my phone imei in their system but the actual phone can be changed with no problem, if their system doing its "sweep" notices the phone imei different then they either update it or ignore it.

This Friday I'll go to Las Vegas ... I have an S3 t mobile, if I buy a sim card there, worked out of las vegas? live in santa ana ca, worked here?

Did you try just pulling the sim out of the nexus 4 and putting it into the s4?

or did you just take it in to a store?
