Sorry, just have never used a screen protector for about 4 years and have never incurred a scratch. Screens these days are quite good at resisting scratches, but if it puts your mind at ease, go for it.![]()

The Pirates took all their mojo I'd say, halon.
Good morning and who would have thought, after the epic and exhausting pre-release thread, that this thread would hit 31,000 posts?![]()

And you suggested closing it down a week ago.

Sorry I'm late - do we need to lock the thread?
It sounds like the proper successor to the GNex is the new G2, so no problem.
Let me just go grab the thread key and I'll have this locked in a jiffy for y'all.
Thanks for participating!![]()

For those with the G2 - does the Verizon's version of the buttons and their placement feel weird? I know they look much cheaper compared to AT&T and the international configurations, but just wondering if they look as cheap as they do in review shots.
Hard to say, as I haven't had much exposure to the international versions. I've held them, and used them, and the buttons don't seem any better/worse.For those with the G2 - does the Verizon's version of the buttons and their placement feel weird? Overall, I think it's the best phone out right now. But my needs might be different from yours, so the only way is to try one out.I'm thinking of going G2 also.

I personally like the aesthetics of the international buttons better, although many reviews I've read indicate the opposite, that the Verizon version looks "higher end" and "classy" rather than "plasticy". So it all comes down to personal preference.
I will say this though. In an average day, I use the back buttons a total of zero times a day. Seriously. ZERO.
Knock-knock to turn the phone on and off. Sounded like such a stupid gimmicky feature, but in reality it's awesome. And how often are the volume keys used? The only time I use them is for gaming, where I need to change volume depending on the surroundings. And that's not often. Phone/Notification volumes are set and I never change them.
I think it's more of a perception issue with the back buttons rather than anything real. I find when I do have to use them, they are intuitive and easy to use.
I don't know why Verizon had to have different buttons, but keep in mind the Verizon version also has wireless charging.

I agree with above.Good Morning AF friends. So naturally, i played heavily with the G2 yesterday and after about 6 hours of on screen time, i still had 45 percent battery left (and i started at 90%). I have been off the charger now for about an hour with constant use and show a 2 percent battery drop. My Nexie would be down by at least 20 percent by now and never would have given me 6 hours of screen time without a charge. So the battery life on this thing is a true delight. The double tap to turn on the screen has been flawless and very convenient. All phones should do this! The LG software is actually very good. I used Nova Launcher always before and have pretty much replicated my Nexie with the stock launcher on the G2, so no need for me to have a different launcher loaded. As to Q slide, i disabled that as i did not find the little slides useful and their presence as a toggle in the pull down was too busy. The ability to access three apps with three fingers quickly is definitely nifty, but so far, i haven't figured out if i can use them in a split window. If not, the recent apps button basically does the same for me, albeit potentially more cumbersome with apps. As to the recent apps, long press the home button and wallah, its right there. LG removed it as a navigation button but the function does still exist. As i said yesterday, while this is LG's skin, it does remind me of a custom rom with tons of options to customize. Not as many as we saw in Sourcery (but seriously, I only used a handful of them) but most of the ones that I became accustomed to. I do miss the ability to program a Nav button to go directly to voice search with google. LG has its own voice search but i have yet to try it. Yes there is a lot of bloatware, between LG's stuff and Verizon's, plenty to irritate. Today i will see how the gps works and a better test on the signal as we will be out and about. So far, the call quality and the sound has been great, better than our Nexie. Signal strength is better everywhere and hand off has been flawless. And of great importance to me, no lag. No waiting for the screen to come on, no frozen screen nothing. Just fast and smooth. I remember thinking the same when Ii went from the Droid X to the Nexie, wonder what we will be saying 2 years from now. lol. I will pop in later with a rundown on the camera and gps. Have a great Sunday!
I have everything turned on, BT, WiFi, Google Now, Updating Widgets, Sync, Screen brightness to 100%, etc. I'm not doing anything to save power at all and I'm still pushing these numbers.Yep. I feel your pain.Thanks.
I think the G2 may be my next device, just sucks I need to buy it at full price. Stupid Verizon.
Depends on the user.I'll say it again - I'll take one user's real world experience over 10 blog opinions any time.

As a speakerphone, entirely adequate. I've never been on the other end, so don't know for sure, but callers said they could hear me fine with little background noise and I was able to hear them. How is the G2 as a speaker phone?
