Official Speed Test and WiMax Deployment Thread

Well...very cool! So if someone can verify their range...I will know with much more certainty if I will have coverage at home. It's all gravy baby!

Wow....too bad the guys in the Incredible forum wouldn't listen when I went back about a month ago to try to get them open minded enough to take a look at the EVO 4G. Oh well....we'll be glad we waited...I'm more stoked by the minute. This is a VERY difficult wait. Gonna break for dinner. Great group here....thanks!
I've heard the range is 30 miles but I believe it is 1.5 to 3 miles because the clear reps told my friend if he was within 3 miles of a wimax tower then he would have coverage

eieio, I'm sure there's little chance in hell of it happening, but could you check Tallahassee, FL?

It may be kinda small for a roll-out, but it's a huge college/university city and also the capital of FL, so you'd think we'd get it here, but darn Jacksonville has to go and get it first (I used to live there, so it feels a little bitter, lol).

I'm surprised there isn't more in Tallahassee, but towerco is showing two locations so far: TowerCo

I imagine Detroit and grand rapids. You guys should check the wimax coverage thread instead of barraging this poor guy with easily answered questions.

I did it shows 2 towers 1 is 10 miles north and the other 1 is 7 miles south from my house. I was wondering if they are working off 4G.

I'm getting bummed there's zero WiMAX coverage in Southern California. At least there's an announcement for Los Angeles, and rumors about San Diego, but I'm right in between and it sounds like we will have to wait till at least after those two. Come on Sprint, we're loaded here in Orange County. Let us give you money :D

I'm also interested in some of the coverage rollouts. I'm in NE Indiana and no major cities here. BUT I am about 5 miles from the 80/90/69 junction and can hope that there might be a wimax roll-out that follows the major through ways and I could benefit from this. Wishful thinking but nonetheless have to do something to pass the time since I got caught up with the rest of my nightly reading. :) Thanks again for all the insight.

I feel you, Frozen. Hook up the OC! :)

Are you in New Haven or Fort Wayne?

does that site ever stop loading after you put your state in?! it's been going for 5 minutes now!

however, i can scroll down to the 1st page while it's loading, and i see that the town i'm in has a tower. how certain are we that results on that site = wimax?

Something like 100% WiMAX, but they're not all owned by Sprint, so there's some confusion. Maybe someone else can give us a better answer.

I think the screen is big enough so they wouldn't have any problems seeing it.. :p They would be a lot better than those vzw phones they have now!!
Unless they live in a rural area. If they do, they might be better off where they are.

Towerco is partnered with sprint with the 4g rollout so Sprint will (should) lease those towers. There are probably more wimax towers out there as well

I haven't seen anything from that TowerCo to suggest that their towers will be used for Sprint 4G coverage. Yea, they are partnered with sprint in some capactiy, but people are drawing their own conclusions about it. I think people are getting excited over nothing.
