Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Hello everyone - didn't stop in yesterday, but hello.

Congrats gEEK - glad to hear all is well.

I still love my G2 - kinda wish the N5 was available on Verizon (maybe with a better camera), but this thing just blows me away every day. I never have to worry about what I am doing because I know the battery will get me to the end of the day. Just wish I could run 4.4 on it soon.

Edit - Random awesome Kickstarter find of the day: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/electroninks/circuit-scribe-draw-circuits-instantly?ref=category

Wow. I'm really glad I went with the Nexus 5. This thing flies! And I do like KitKat. Very simple and neat. I like the transparency.

I hope the developer of Xposed framework updates his app soon, as well as the modules. But my biggest preference has to do with resizable navbar, which is available in many of the roms at this point, and transparency, which KK took care of.

If anyone is one the fence between the G2 or the Nexus, I say go with the Nexus. That's my strong feeling on the matter.

Today, anyway.

:p

Wait. Didn't you just have the note 3? I'm confused and YOU, Mr. Solo, are a tech WHORE!
:)

Wow, gotta love that, Motorola just announced they will honor warranties of Dev devices even if they have unlocked bootloaders.

Haha. I imagine it won't be working with this ROM at all (perhaps tap on but not off like current AOSP ROMs). I've messed with KK a little on my Gnex and like it quite a bit.
Just need to be sure I can flash the LG camera apk since the AOSP one is utter garbage.

Knock On will work since its built into the Kernel - Knock Off you can get working with Nova and an app.

Yeah, still digging through the XDA thread (dang those things move fast!). Care to elaborate how to do it with Nova? Honestly want to give GEL a shot and hold off on Nova for a bit.
Whelp, flash is over and it managed to reboot. Time to set this puppy up! :)
(I'll let you know when the barage of FCs start :o)

Has the dev community been embracing the N5 like they did the GNex when it first came on the scene?

Oh yeah. There are a ton of roms, kernels, etc. for it already. I'm like a kid in a candy store. I've flashed about 5 so far, and I'm really happy with the Hammerhead Cataclysm. Stock KitKat with a few tweaks, very fast.

I wish the Nexus camera was a little better, but it's passable. I really liked the LG camera with all of its modes.

Knock on will work no matter what. Knock off will work with Nova (see below), or by simply tapping on the status bar no matter what rom you're on.

Download an app called Screen Off. You will have to activate it within the app itself, and then with Nova (you need Prime), go to gestures and settings, pick double tap, assign it to an app, pick Screen Off, and you're good to go. Now whenever you double tap on homescreen, it will turn off.

With Gummy's 4.4 ROM you can assign another nav key to turn the screen off. :)
So I can run GEL and still get it all. Sideloaded the LG camera apk and assigned that to the quick launch in the lock screen. Pretty satisfied thus far. :thumb:

TGIF. What a week this has been

Wow, congrats gEEk and missus gEEk, happy all went well!
Cute boys too. They look just like their daddy :D

I believe I used this one and assigned the LockerActivity to the Double Tap gesture in Nova: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=turn.off.the.lights&hl=en

Digging the GEL so far, but I may move back to Nova since I love gestures so much. Slide to Now is okay, but it's easily accessible from the slide up gesture. More importantly, I just want to get rid of these giant icons!

(one thing I'm noticing though is considerable battery drain. Not sure if it's because I'm messing with the phone more or if it's actually happening. Google Play Services is taking up the bulk of battery usage. Is this normal?)

Try it with location services off.

Also there are some cool extended nav bar apps if your rom doesn't do it all. No promises that they'll work with the latest.

LG also came out and said that was true.
But they haven't indicated the proportions, just the results.
