Told you it was a stupid question. :) Thanks for the response, I've seen similar scrolling on the Samsung Moment, but totally didn't think about it that way.

I'm betting that it will crop bit on the top and bottom, or worse, shrink the whole picture to accomodate x800 resolution... I can test out either theory by making two wallpapers using same picture, one with 800h, and the other with 854h and see how they look, once I receive my phone (still 100 miles away).

Or, you could save yourself a headache and crop to x800.
 
Found some Kitt backgrounds and resized or cropped to fit a 960 width by 800 height frame.

I really do think that this phone could have been based on the look of Kitt..

I know that there is already an Incredible Wallpaper thread but my request in there went unanswered. I am probably the biggest San Jose Sharks fan so if someone could make an awesome wallpaper for me to put on my phone tomorrow.. that would just be amazing!

If that can't be done then I also love the 9ers.

This, maybe???

I had to blow it up for the large paper as the only one I could find was 480x630. I also made one for a single locked paper using the original image size.

Also, if you've been able to set the lockscreen on your DInc with a different pic than your regular wallpaper, can you explain? There's another thread with someone unable to do it and the I found this in the manual:

Personalizing your Home screen wallpaper with your favorite photo is a quick and easy way to change the feel of your phone and give it a fresh look. Browse the collection of wallpapers included in your phone or choose from photos that you have taken with the camera. You can also change your Home screen to use an animated wallpaper.
The wallpaper that you choose for the Home screen will also be used as the lock screen wallpaper.
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Wallpaper.
Do one of the following:
Tap Live wallpapers to choose from preset animated wallpapers.
Tap My photos to select a photo that you have taken using the camera or copied to your storage card. Crop the photo and then tap Save.
Choose from preset wallpapers.
After changing the wallpaper, remember to save it to the scene that you created or save it as a new scene. To find out how to save a scene, see

When I said awesome, I meant I need someone who is awesome at making custom wallpapers..

That one is not exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping for a banner type of WP like many people use in forums on their sigs but I'll definitely take it and use it. Thank you!

A banner wallpaper would be the wrong dimension for the phone. It needs to be 960x800.
 
Thanks to everyone for posting their phone screens. What an incredible (oops, did I say that!) variety of looks. They give me inspiration to give this a try. For many of you, I'm probably old enough to be your mother (maybe even grandmother), so be gentle. Can you point me in the direction of a tutorial of sorts for customizing a phone? I'm someone who has never texted, let alone played with wallpapers and widgets. I look forward to learning, but I'm overwhelmed right now. FedEx hasn't even delivered my phone...should be any minute by my calculations. I'm eager to get started but don't know what to do first. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

I would look into the manual that has been posted in the evergreen thread, that should have the steps to changing backgrounds. I don't have the phone myself, but I think if you long hold on the home screen it pops up settings which has the background settings.

To physically make backgrounds, you can use paint.net to resize images as you need.
