HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

has anyone tried the supposed support for new security policies with ActiveSync on the built-in exchange app?

Well out exchange server now requires you to lock your phone and ten incorrect attempts wipe it. After I set it up after 2.1v3 it immediately asked and wont sync unless I set a password. With 1.5 or 1.6 I was never asked to do this.

One annoying issue is periodically it says there's a security certificate error and its not a trusted authority. I view it and its from verisign and doesn't expire till next year and cant hit continue. I hit cancel and it syncs lol. Cant really do that every 15 mins when it trys to sync though....

When I first saw this new Version I was like :D but after seeing it has not really fixed some of the worst bugs I was like .

I can see based on this version why HTC and Verizon have not released the update. It seams to make alot more sense than sending it OTA and having thousands of issues about the speaker alone! I was all set to install this but I have decided that a working phone, even if its slow is better than the issues some are having. I am sure root will be figured out soon for this version soon for those who want it. I think based on the sames issues with this version as well as earlier ones that HTC has a long way to go towards having a real working version for us. I suspect that the June target date might be a pipe dream as well.

i honestl think that he silent/broekn audio on phone call bug is in some way shape or form hardware related.

it seems that if you have it, you had it since v1 leak and still have it now...and if you don't have it, you don't, at all.

i woud say MOST, do not have this bug, but there are a few here that have dealt with it since v1

download LockPicker. It overrides the password prompt the active sync requires when unlocking your phone

The biggest issue I faced with 2.1 V2 was the "No voice when calling or answering calls" bug

Just made a call worked great. Went to answer a call...Silence.

If there was a way for me to trade in the phone for something else, I would have done it by now.

Very, Very frustrated.

I have to agree with Caddy on this. I think it is a hardware issue and something in the 2.1 software more or less woke it up. I think that those of you that have it will have it on any version of 2.1 you run, with the possible exception of the official.

The one ray of sunshine though is that this version takes care of so many bugs that it MIGHT be really close to being ready for prime time. If that is the case and the official OTA comes, those of you with this problem can get replacements under warranty.

I have downloaded v3, not istalled though, I am still holding out for the OTA...still, thanks Caddy!

the one thing thats stopping me from applying this update is what will happen when the official OTA comes out. What happens then. Nobody really knows for sure. I have "hack" many devices before (psp, ds, nintendo wii, ps2) so the process isnt the problem. just worried that Verizon will do something that will prevent me from getting the real official update.

I'm just curious, as I haven't seen it brought up yet, but I have a thought about this (and maybe other bugs.) I'm running on 1.5 still, but I just got my Eris on April 10th. If I look in Settings > About Phone, my Hardware Version is: 0002.

I'm wondering if this hardware version in any way correlates to bugs in the beta firmware. Can others with and without the silent call bug on any leak comment?

Why even download it if you are not going to install it?

download LockPicker. It overrides the password prompt the active sync requires when unlocking your phone

Which password prompt? The only thing I have to enter to unlock my phone is the security pattern. Now, I am currently using TouchDown to access my Exchange email and each time I launch that app, due to security policy, I have to enter my 16-digit PIN (which expires daily). Is this the password that LockPicker overrides? If so, that would be FANTASTIC!

I am going to attempt to setup my exchange account using the built-in mail app and see if it complies with my security policy today.

ok so strange...yesterday when i first installed the new leak i did not have the 50% time without signal bug...then i did *228 options 1 and 2 then i had the bug...then i decided to do a *22899 the phone rebooted and i still had the bug...

so i just figured that i had it and moved on...charged the phone overnight as usual...decided to reboot today for some reason...and now the problem is gone?!?!

i have no idea why, but i am now happy to report i have zero bug with the new 2.1v3

Anyone having trouble with wifi? Cant seem to connect to any, even open ones after 2.1v3

Yes...

I'm researching this now and I will get back if I find something out!

EDIT: Are you having "complete connection failure" or is it more on the side of you connect but cant surf? I am finding issues with the Eris and DNS or should I say the lack thereof.

I just tested a WiFi Router here at work that I could not connect to and forced the DNS address to that of the Router (Default Gateway) and now I can connect. Obviously you cannot do this with public hot spots, but it appears what I found is a DNS issue.

...so if it has problems....IM TELLING MY MOM ON YOUR CADDY!!

:)

I already talked to your mom about it
