I can tell you that the Evo forum here sure picked up big time, after CTIA. I can also tell you that Evo started showing up all over the place in other web blogs and tech rags. So, they are getting lots of free marketing mileage right now. How many folks here on the Evo forum have left for the Incredible? A couple have speculated, but I think maybe only 1 or 2 actually got one.
Sprint is going to make a comeback. Just watch and see.
Also, do we think we all understand the market better than Sprint, Verizon and Apple? We dabble in research on this topic, but they pay teams of top marketing folks a ton of money to get this right. Doesn't mean they wil, but I certainly feel they are more qualified than us to make a decision on release dates.
Besides, don't we have an Evo insider on here that has repeatedly said the phone is still in testing? Please oh smart phone gods, don't let Sprint ship the Evo until it is ready for prime time.
If anyone followed the Incredible thread, they went down a rabbit hole on release dates and folks kept getting more and more worked up over it. Rumors started about early release dates and everyone started working themselves into believing it was meant to be. Then they got mad at Verizon for letting them down.
Why is anyone slinging mud at Sprint? They made a nice early announcement at CTIA, which is what the Verizon/Incredible fans wanted but did not get. +1 for Sprint, right?
Then they showed it off as a working phone at CTIA. +2 for Sprint.
Then they give us a target release of Summer 2010. +3 for Sprint!
What did Verizon give the Incredible lovers? Nada.
If Sprint has a specific schedule/timeline for completing the phone and releasing it in the Summer, would you rather they never told us about it at all until right before release, or tell us like they did at CTIA?
In my very humble opinion (yeah, go ahead and chuckle

), I think Sprint has performed admirably and has not done a single thing to merit any bad marks on this Evo release.
