Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Unbrick VM/Sprint F3

I'm sorry if i sounded curt; not my intention at all. This has been an aggravating week using a P.O.S. candybar phone while I do everything I can NOT to have to send my phone out to repair.

Everything I put in my orig. thread minus OP happened after I ran the unbrick guide, including the different data cable.

I honestly don't know how to fix that error. The only thing I would suggest is re-run the guide or send it in to be replaced. It sounds like you have a hardware failure somewhere or a bad internal sd card.

I was able to put my phone back to V6 stock with npolite's picture tutorial and his post above it. This was in his post, but took me awhile to find. For clarification, when you start the LGFlashTool and get the screen shown below - just hit OK (to accept the "Korean Factory").

Um, I've never seen that before... O.o

Believe you have an older L3 like me. Basing this solely on my poor memory of when we both started posting in this form.

Can you confirm if your phone was made in Korea or China? Mine is Korea. Just curious if the reason some users are having unbrick issues is do to China factory phone. I do not think that would matter but don't know.

I got mine when they 1st came out (from Amazon I think) for around $160.
How do I tell where it was made?

I'm having trouble following the instructions in this thread, because the links provided don't work or don't make sense!

These URLs in the original post lead to what appear to be download links, but nothing happens when I click on them:
https://www.box.com/shared/32c5t7fj2w8xcwr0krjo
https://app.box.com/s/ua760vn52db4ainj92hb

And in the supposedly simpler set of instructions that were posted by "npolite", the URLs in steps #2 and #5 are the same; there's no link to the Flash Utility as far as I can tell. (I can't believe no one has mentioned this!) I did find a link on another site to an LG Flash Utility, but "After the installation there is a MegaLock.dll file in the zip" doesn't really make sense based on my attempt to download it.

I did a quick check and all links appear to be working (01:30 CST).
Check for any hyperlink or download options when accessing sites. I've missed some before when started using dropbox

Click the download button after you click the links you said did nothing, below is an image.

The links were down a few days ago because my box was accidentally deactivated (twice in the same month :banghead: ) and I have no clue why.

I will be moving the files on box to oudhitsquad.com soon. :)

Yes, I'm able to see the "Download (xx.x MB)" links... but clicking on them does nothing. I tried in multiple browsers. And my HTTP Header Viewer plugin in Firefox tells me there's a 403 Forbidden error happening.

Maybe your account was disabled again? Or maybe the "sharing" settings are off?

Yea, I see that now, I have the same issue. Changing my signature now to ensure no one on this site uses box. Deactivate my account twice and then 403 all my downloads....what kind of site does that?

I have an LG that boots to the LG logo and that's it. I first tried a hard reset which did nothing. I then found this forum and went through post by post.

I have tried versions 1.5, 1.6, and 1.8 of the LG software. I have tried both v5 and v6 of the image. I have swapped cables and loaded everything on three computers; two XP and one 7. The comm ports swap ok, I have the latest drivers loaded, I even tried comm 42 as suggested. Yes, rebooted computers. Set the phone in download mode by pulling the battery, holding the up vol button, plugging in the USB cable and then putting in the battery. I load the LG software, wait until it's ready, then unplug and plug back in the phone.

Every time I attempt any re-flashing, I get the same message from the LG Flash software:
---
Flashing
....PrimaryGPT
....PrimaryGPT
....PrimaryGPT
....PrimaryGPT
Error
F0000002
FAIL
---
BTW, the phone was made in China.

I am probably going to grab a new one at Best Buy as I have spent the entire day Saturday working on this, but I'm interested in why this phone is being so stubborn. Plus it's a personal point of pride that I will not be defeated by this stupid thing. :D

Great job with the help so far. It's a fascinating thread, and I appreciated the work that you guys have put into it so far.

For the flash tool. Have you tried a full uninstall, of the tool only, and then reinstall flash tool selecting China factory, if prompted, instead of default of Korea?

Let the forum know what type of result. Might help us determine if the China manuf is part of the issue.

I started with the Opt V like many and do remember that a factory change for that phone caused some issues.

sammyz is the expert and might have a better suggestion but only thing I can think of.

Uninstalled and I believe cleared the registry of LG Flashtool entries. When I reload without the new Megalock it will ask what country but also asks for a user name and password. If I replace the Megalock it goes right to the program. I remember when first installing there was a selection of countries but I can't seem to get back to that point.

Also, anyone else notice that if you double click the LG logo in the flash program it asks for a password for "Input all mode password".

Found it. Regedit search for 'lg flash' will take you to two locations. Look for the one under Software > LG Electronics > LG Flash Tool and blank out the DBMS entry. When you restart it will prompt you to select a country.

Still banging away at it.

Still no luck. I'm going to take a break. This is the set up so far:

Mobile Driver 3.11.3
Flash Tool 1.8.1.1023
LGLS720_20130509_LGFLASHV151.DLL
LS720V6.03
Running on both XP and Win 8.1

Tried all 4 country selections, rebooted before every change, still the exact same message from the flash program:

(xxxxxx on numbers that maybe shouldnt be public)
PID:CD23S130806xxxxxx
IMEI: 990002531xxxxxx
990002531xxxxxx
LGLS720
LS720ZV6_03
LS720ZV6_03
Model : LS720
Initializing
USB Connection Established
Flashing
....PrimaryGPT
....PrimaryGPT
....PrimaryGPT
....PrimaryGPT
....PrimaryGPT
::Error::
F0000002

And a final point to get it out of the way, the phone states it's a VM720. That is the same as the LS720? Right?

It's a girlfriends phone. She said just suddenly it started displaying messages like '<this app> has stopped working', pretty much all apps working at the time, then the phone shut off, then restarted with just the LG logo and no further. Well, the LG logo, then the chime and the sparkle around the LG logo to be exact.

Maybe it was trying to update at the time? It's a mystery. I can go into download mode, hard reset, and recovery mode.
