Root [MetroPCS] [ROM] KitKat 4.4.2 NEW BETA 4

was the LTE fix removed in this update? Seems like we will have to go into testing menu to use LTE every reboot?

I just called 4-5 people in a row and no problems at all. Hus, mine stays 4G only. I havnt seen 4G LTE symbol at all. Even though mine says 4G it is LTE.

Whether you believe me or not, but I was having issues calling and called my provider. They "restarted" my service and after rebooting all the data icons changed to that of LG's flavor. The 4G, H, E etc. icons were gone AND there was now an option for GSM/WCDMA/LTE under network settings. Not sure what they did. I do have a backup and I can screenshot it, but too lazy.

Edit: I'm still having issues making phone calls. The call does go through, but no ring on my phone. Nothing through speaker/headset. Each time phone is rebooted, calls will work for a few minutes before going out again.

Hi I'm new to the forum, but i no a little about droids..
So im not sure..the new beta4 version of this rom
Is the wallpaper issue fixed? Great work by the way my f6
Rocks thnx to all you guys n gals on this forum..

This ROM is as stable as a RC (:

If you leave it how it is stock works just fine in the call settings there is no option to make it lte which is why it doesn't work you can change it using the code to get lte data but as for calling thats how its setup in europe

Not a issue of believing you. I do believe you and I'm just letting my experience be known. I've notice that a lot of issues in this rom and
CM11 are different per person ie camera, random reboots on cm11 that I'm having, then others don't. Do you use the number code to enable data or from the status bar? Maybe that's the difference. I don't have a lte option to tick. Gonna edit with a screenshot.

Edit
As you see as soon as I went to this screen look at my data icon. It shows H and now no more 4g just 3g and H. Which now I have to reinstall ROM again. That's what I was talking about in a earlier post. I keep 4G all the time even through reboots. I just can't go to the mobile network settings or I lose it for good.

I leave data on status bar on at all times. Every time I reboot I have to go into data menu to restart LTE again. Either re-enabling LTE in this manner kills my calls or some sort of time-limited option turns off calls; I have no idea why. But, calls do work and I can hear the ring/everything in the first few minutes of boot before it's gone again.

Edit: I can't see the image, but yes I've had the same issue before, too. You don't need to reflash, go into data menu and re-enable LTE, although based on my experience, you will have to do this at every reboot; it does not save the setting.

See post #242 on page 5 that's what I mean by which way you enable the data. Doing it the way I've been doing it makes it stay on all the time and through reboots and incoming and outgoing calls work flawless. You just can't go to the mobile networks settings without it losing it.

Yea, but by using the dialing code. I will have the same issue y'all are having. If I reinstall ROM and do it my way I won't have any problems, not even after reboots. I just have to stay away from the mobile network settings. Brb reinstalling.

After reflashing ROM this is what I see no data at all it is not turned on.

So I pull the status bar down and turn it on as you see in next screen data is off by default.

After enabling data from status bar. I remove it from the status bar so I don't accidentally turn it off. Its not needed, but I do. I then have the 4G icon with lte speeds like next screen.

As long as i do not mess with data settings anymore. I'm good on data and calls. Nothing will alter it, not reboots or anything, just going into the mobile network settings kills it.

Are you on Beta 4? Also, I believe you need a direct link to image in order for it to show up.

Also, I think I've found a permanent fix for LTE, here's how:

1. Install Xposed Installer and the GravityBox (KK) module, Turn it on and reboot
2. In GravityBox under the Phone Tweaks, select Smart Radio.
3. Turn it ON and set Normal Network Mode to one of the LTE modes and Reboot.

The issue I'm having at this point is that I can't hear what's going on any calls, no matter the data set.

I can also confirm what you said above is true. However, I can't go through the process of reinstalling all my apps again; it's going to take hours. I think I'll stick to 4.1.2 until there's a stable CM/KK out.

Here's the proof for the LG icons for LTE/HSPA on this ROM. Also, notice the options available under network mode.

I am on beta 4, but happened on the last patch too. Its a big deal, but it ain't at the same time. As long as I do not mess with data settings everything is good. I can stick with this ROM for now, but I am waiting for CM11 to be updated. It has quite a few nice things that this one doesn't.

Just wondering, is there a way to WiFi tether on this ROM? If so can someone please help me.

Edit - Got it WiFi tether router and portable hotspot. Both on play store for free.

Lol when HK is quiet the whole day it means that he is busy doing an amazing update like yesterday ;) the silence is good...

I'm using cwm

Oh, I've been using twrp, and I usually wipe everything but the external SD card to (which is where I keep my backups) before I install a new rom. In most cases this is unnecessary but in your case it might help with your storage issue. I wipe cache, davlik cache, system, data, and internal storage which erases everything but the recovery from the internal memory of the device. If you do choose to do this make sure you transfer any and all files you don't want to lose to your SD card, and don't try to reboot your phone until you restore a previous backup or flash the rom. This removes everything but the recovery from the internal memory of the phone including the operating system. I have done this quite a few times without any problems just don't do it unless you transfer all important files to external SD and make sure you have a recent backup just in case. Also, I have never tried this with cwm I can only testify to its efficacy when using twrp recovery.

some people were telling me they have LTE some are saying they dont

I have not looked to much into it

I think it is something simple like they are not selecting the right APN or something

Also I think that when you are connected to LTE it the icon says 4G not LTE

I have seen 4 different data icons since I began using this rom. They are 4G, H, 3G, and EV. 4G is lte(the only true 4g technology), H is hsdpa+(souped up 3G technology which metro and T-Mobile falsely call "4G"), 3G(no brainer), and EV which I believe means 2G.

EV is EVDO a 3G standard for a CDMA based network

Anyone test default LG camera app? Google Camera is really lacking. Something as common as panorama isn't even an option.

I think I've found a painless solution to the LTE problem. This is more aimed at hroark, but will work for everyone. In order for LTE option to appear under network settings, you will need to replace the following entry in build.prop

ro.build.target_operator=OPEN to =TMO

This may or may not change the overall UI/status bar etc. Change it to ATT, VZW, SPR etc to mess with it.
