Root Boost Moto E 2015 LTE Stock 5.0.2 and 5.1 Soak test ROMs

Turns out, my first attempt at deodexing Lollipop 5.1 did not go very well lol

The full stock 5.1 soak rom works great. I did not update the partitions and do not see any negative side effects so far. I do notice some VM issues, but from what I understand these things occur on the official soak update as well. It can't send a message to activate avatars (which I don't want anyway) so it keeps giving an error about it. When I try to delete the default messages the app FC's. I have not tried to receive a VM yet so I can't say if the app is working otherwise.

Regarding the camera...so far after flashing SuperSU 2.49 Beta it works over 3 reboots with no issues. However, I have not installed Xposed yet.

I will keep you posted if there is anything wonderful or terrible after testing for a while :)

My initial impression of the soak rom is very good. Opening the dialer is faster, opening other apps is faster. Seems faster all around. Did I mention the camera works with root and Xposed? :p

You know how I reported the camera issue after reboot once we first got hold of the test? Well come to find out it happened to a few other people and it was fixable (in 5.1) just by resetting. Well at least we know camera and root are a go in 5.1 [emoji106]

Side note...
Any must have Xposed modules for the E?

Oh! Bro, I've been hearing (in XDA) that deodexing 5.0+ is a Windows program only job as APK's keep crashing if doedexed in Linux. Everything else is & was Str8 w/ Linux kitchens n stuff but correct deodexing of Lollipop APK's was stated as a Windows deal for now.. Hope it helps [emoji41]

Edit: what's the benefit of YouTube background playback? [emoji56] :Truly curious:

I tried to do it manually in Linux but clearly failed. I will keep trying but will not post another until I have tested it. I made a rooted and debloated rom and will be testing shortly. Scrapping the deodexing for now :P

YouTube Background playback allows Youtube to play while your screen is off, or while you are doing other things on your device. It also gives you media player like controls on your lockscreen so you can go to the next song in your playlist.

In honor of the deodex release..

Nice :) For the record, it is still not deodexed, just debloated lol

If you want I can make a logo.bin for those so you can see them when you boot instead of the unlocked bootloader warning ;)

Ah ok...so deodexing is still a bit squirrelly? Yeah if you want to make logo.bin(s) that'd be cool. Are you using the tool from xda?

I have not figured out how to deodex in Linux for LP yet. I thought I had it but it boots to a black screen.

I am not sure where I got it, but it is a binary for Linux that makes the logo.bin for Moto devices

I have the tool for windows from xda that creates a logo.bin from any pic for moto devices, I can make'em for those two when I get some time

Edit 2: Please don't try to use the Motorola Boot Logo Maker to make logo zips for our Moto E 2nd gen, until it's updated I had to edit the updater-script file to correct the logo path that it flashes the logo to, it has a selection for moto e, but it's the 1st gen model and the path is different for the name than what our E 2015 has, I'm gonna message the author and see if he'll update it for our Moto E 2015 device for compatibility :)

Edit 3: The download links have been updated, these logos will not mess up your CLOGO now, special thanks to @SuperR for the updater-script and the update-binary from his logo zips ;)

Both of these logo zips flash and work properly using SuperR's TWRP 2.8.6.0 v2-4, tested and confirmed working by me, thanks for sharing @starkraving :D

Cool man. [emoji106]

@SuperR: Hey bro was wondering is the Surnia permissive kernel for 5.0.2 or 5.1?? If it's for 5.0.2 do you have plans to make a permissive kernel for 5.1?? Thanks for everything you do for our Moto E 2015 device bro ;)
