Root Evil Eris 2.0 with OC and Apps2SD is Here!

you unzipped and adb pushed the files to the correct spot? if you would like, gChat @ me and i can guide you through step by step

Here's what I did. I'm on Windows 7.

1. CMD
2. CD (Change Directory) to the Tools directory of the SDK.
3. USB Debugging enabled
4. On phone, use Root Explorer to verify that those files are in /system/app
4.5. Extract htcdialer.apk and phone.apk into Tools directory.
5. On PC, use adb push htcdialer.apk /system/app. Prompt is returned that file copy was successful.
6. Repeat step 5 for phone.apk.
7. Attempt to make call. Force Close.
8. Reboot phone. Still getting Force Close.

If you can think of anything I should try, we can chat, but I think I've got it all!

from what you are describing it sounds like you are pulling and then re-pushing the same file.
pull the files and then delete them. then push the new files from a ROM that GV does work on

I noticed that after I push the phone.apk that there is a Phone.apk and a phone.apk. Unix is, of course, case-sensitive, so I renamed the file appropriately and have restarted the phone. That didn't work. I'll try the adb pull next after I restore my last Nandroid backup.

I was able to pull the files over to my Tools directory. I am wiped out and am going to crash. We'll have some fun in the morning, cool?

from what others have posted on xda, this doesnt work

I've been doing this and posting on here and on XDA, just so you know. But yeah, no luck with this one. Have a good, um, night.

Dude if you have root explorer, screw using ADB! Thats just like purposely using a harder way of doing things for NO REASON.

If adb isnt used just right, you wont get very good results.

Root Explorer FTW.

brian i have a question. do you much about macs?

Root Explorer was much easier to do this with (Move...paste from SD Card to /system/app but the same result. Force closes followed by a NAND Restore.

ya i just dont think GV is going to be working for a while. i know framework is working on it though.

have you tried the new update of lightning rom? me an comnap got a2sd working on that one too. might want to see if GV works on there.

I've been using .2 for a while now. The one on the market doesn't work for outgoing calls, as you know. I'm hoping to find a ROM that can use the newest version for a number of reasons. Thanks for the post!

Dude, andro... I just realized something.

You do realize changing to ext3 will cut the life of the sd card in half right? Just thought you should know that and maybe put a little disclaimer in your OP before ppl blame you for ruining their sd cards. As long as you have a note about it, then they know the risks that come with installing and its not your fault.

Or, just listen to them whine in 2 months :)

ya, i heard about that. didnt hear of any people who actually killed their sd card using a2sd though. i did some research before i started working on it

probably should put it on there just in case though.

When your're putting out software for the masses, its always good to have a disclaimer. Just lookin out for ya my man

I dial ##7764726 and it doesn't go to the program menu, instead actually tries to call the number and I get a can't complete the call recording for verizon. Any ideas how to get to the program menu now? I'm trying to change the slot cycle setting.

This is the fastest ROM yet. BTW, I wiped and installed another ROM, wiped and re-flashed this one, and all my programs were still there.

I did 3 NAND backups before switching to another ROM and all 3 failed (skateboards forever). So the benefit of apps2sd is i didn't have to reinstall them all again. Swype did force close on me and had to be reinstalled but everything else worked.

I had a strange problem that just cropped up and I am hoping that copying the ROM back over will fix this: I flashed ErisLightning and it worked okay. Google Voice version 3.2 worked fine and I wanted to revert back to EvilEris 2 with A2SD. I shut it down, wiped the data and cache and ran my NAND restore. HTC screen, reboot, rinse, lather, repeat. I had to do a NAND restore from the previous day which did not have the app2sd patch in it. I did a wipe and flashed the new EE2 but it also goes into an endless reboot. I'm kinda bummed because I had everything set up exactly how I wanted with my NAND. I guess it just goes to show you that it pays to have multiple backups! It's not the biggest deal in the world, but now I will be rebuilding my home screens if anyone needs me!
