Well folks, I'm back from my vacation to Paris, (with a stop over in Banlandia) and man do you guys talk. 247 pages, really people. lol
I've only gone through the last few pages since I left up to page 225 (out of 247).
Since I have the rest of the week off from work, hopefully by tomorrow, I would have caught up. I see alot has changed. New (confirmed) info, with some members gone and new ones in. Its gonna be interesting, reading the logs and the last few pages.

Welcomes go out to the new members.

TS out

Welcome back TS.

what's up twospirits.... i'm new here

Welcome back TS...I managed to avoid a ban or new infractions while you were gone. Hell, I think I even managed to win over the spirits of a few mods...sorry that the shit storm had to go down while you were gone. Totally not cool...not cool at all. I hope the City of Lights treated you swell.

I just talked to the retentions department and this guy refused to acknowledge the extra $10 fee associated with having an EVO. He told me he wasn't allowed to give discounts/credits for something that hasn't been released, and that he couldn't put any notes in the system. I probably got a bad rep, he sounded drugged out, ghetto, and he said no info has been released about the EVO, lol. I'll try again when the EVO release date rolls around, if they won't give me a discount they just lost a 8 yr customer and investor. I know it's only $10 and when I've got over 800x that invested with them I really shouldn't care, but extra fees = cheese, period. Especially when they've been going around boasting about "Everything" plans starting at 69.99... that really don't include "Everything".

Agreed. My plan was to just call them once I get the Evo and see what they can do for me--I'm porting over from ATT. Also, does anyone know about this $100 porting credit I keep hearing about? I've already pre-ordered the phone through BB. :)

If you hear anything please let me know. I'm with AT&T now and if I jump ship I'll be bringing 5 lines over. I chatted with Sprint.com today and gave him the porting web address I had. He said it would not work, but gave no reason and was not good at answering other questions, so I would like a second opinion.

not that i'm aware of. the most informative people in the thread have always been river and eieio because they had actual technical knowledge whereas the others were bound to nda's or kept citing mysterious sources .

I got soo many things wrong, it is not even funny.

I got some info on the wimax card wrong, I promise I will fix it once i can edit it again.
I got the release date wrong.
I flipped flopped the the 10 dollar thing.
I thought for sure they would turn on wimax in new york.
I was lied to about the 10 dollar thing and pre order.
I quit twice. (got probation for something stupid)
I mess up on the mimo, it was 2x2 and 2x1 I guessed, 2x2 and 2x2.
I thought there would be more then 1 gig of rom.
I thought there was going to be 2.2 froyo.
I thought they would release early.
I thought they would not charge extra.
Was wrong the retail price.

The only thing I got was the price after rebates.

I am missing a whole bunch of stuff.

I can only do my best, and I guarantee that I will be wrong in the future.

But I will promise you that I will give my best faith effort.

You know, your point actually did pull the logic together for me.

$199.99+19.50 (9.75% CA tax) = $219.49

W/ Pre-order
$50.00+4.88=$54.88
$199.99-50.00=$149.99+14.62 tax=164.61
$54.88+164.61=$219.49

So basically, as long as they deduct the $50 gift card from the total PRIOR to applying the applicable taxes, it'll be fine.
Guys,

I am not trying to teach, but a little high school algebra would explain the above situation:

Total price of the phone with CA tax of 9.75% = 199.99 x 1.0975
= (149.99 + 50) x 1.0975
= 149.99 x 1.0975 + 50 x 1.0975

You're a good broad, RoI.

EVO pre ordered...can't wait! :)

lets talk accessories. any recommendations? i definitely want some type of holster (not the side pouch types i've seen around tho), and some sort of screen protector. thoughts??

i don't usually clip the holster to my belt, but rather to my jeans pocket. the thin plastic holster work best with other phones i've had. will have to see if the evo will fit comfortably inside my pocket.

Me likey the pocket.

On the subject of getting the fee waived: Do you think that someone who is not currently a Sprint customer could get that done? :P

I doubt it. Tough to get sent to retentions when they have no customer to retain in the first place!

I doubt it. Your only chance might be to get the phone and then during the 30 day return period call, ask for retention, and threaten to cancel unless you get a credit because it's cheaper w/ TMobile or something. Seems like alot of work and a little shady though.

I really don't think I'll mind. I have full 4G coverage literally everywhere that I am for about 99% of the time, and will be using the shit out of it, so... okay :).

Yup same here!!!! they have had ClearWire access here for over 5 years now.

Do you really need to pre-order this phone like today or tomorrow?

What if I wait until next Friday, for example, won't I get the same treatment of people pre-ordering on the 1st-2nd day?
When I talked to the BBMobile people while getting my pre-order I asked how many units she thought they would have on launch day. She said maybe around 15. She said they got 20 Incredibles when those came out. She when the iPhone came out they had to put people on a waiting list for months. They don't order according to how many pre-orders they get, they sell pre-orders for the amount they think they will get. Or at least that was how I understood it. I don't know what the cutoff amount of pre-orders was.

I was happy to be the first one on the list so I know I have one reserved.:D

It would be 199.99 X .0975 + 199.99.:D

Peace, Chuck

I think it's being misunderstood what the point of my breakdown of costs was for. The main point was to show that people wanted to avoid getting charged $4.88 extra tax because of the tax they were charged on the BB gift card.

So, for those of you that are worried about BB charging you tax for the gift card, just make sure that they don't apply the gift card as payment, but subtract it from the 199.99 prior to recalculating the tax for your balance.
