I have been lurking for a while and today I preordered the phone. I thank everyone for all their useful info.
I first stopped at the local RS but all I got were blank looks.
I called Sprint as a premier customer and was told I would still have to deal with the mail-in rebate. I told the woman I would preorder at BB and she agreed that was my best move. She then offered me $70 as an anniversary reward.
I called several local BBs and found out I could not preorder through them. I called their toll free number and was directed to a suburban store. She then call that store to confirm.
When I got there they told me they didn't handle preorders either. The sales clerk called the King of Prussia, PA store and the clerk there said I could preorder there.
When I got there, I also paid $53 for the gift card and was scheduled for a specific time of my choosing on June 4th to come in.
I just wanted to make everyone aware that not all BB's are doing the preorder.

wow, was just calculating and found out how much i was paying over the course of 2 yrs.

$7 a line (insurance) = $168 x 3 lines = $504 just for insurance alone
$10 a line (evo tax) = $240 x 3 lines = $720 just for evo tax!

over course of 2 yrs that's $1224 of free money for Sprint! LOL
 
What if Sprint were to say drop the price of their Everything plans by $10 and then charged everyone with an Evo $10 for the Premium Data plan. Would that make everyone happy?

Just sayin.....

I think it is more than having 2 or 1 speakers. I too have a TP2 but my previous BB 8830 with 1 speaker was louder and clearer. I think we need to wait until the phone comes out to actually hear a speakerphone call in a real environment. I am always suspicious of items shown in demos.
 
Me and my friend want the car dock too one that can dock in either direction.. Maybe I'll google it..

My only concern with the white case is the "chrome" looking plastic gets scratched and looks like crap after a while. But that is incredibly sharp. Also, the one black case can change the color of the other half. I didn't realize that before.

What exactly did you say to them to get that done? Because I'm in the same boat as you are and i'd love to get that deal. Sorry I missed your earlier post. Thanks :)

Just make sure when you go in that this doesn't happen to you. It's a sneaky way they can make an extra 3-5 bucks per phone.

You should not have paid taxes on that gift card. They rang it up incorrectly. It should have been $50 flat. The rep I did my pre-order with made the same mistake and fixed it before the tranaction was completed. Looks like it was figured out. Definitely dont walk out of there on the 4th letting them get over for double tax on you.

keep trying, i got them to do it on my first time. i chatted with them again today to make sure the note was on my account and it was. the first rep said i had to get it online and i told him i wanted to get it at BB or RS cuz of the instant rebate and he put another note saying it was ok to do so.

I was wondering why in the hell a $50 gift card came out to more than $50, but I had a 2 yr old in my lap talking about how he just tooted so I didn't really pay that much attention. LOL. I read on another thread that they will fix it when you buy the phone.
 
Has anyone done a rumor recap? I'm curious, now that we know the final specs, price, release date, and extra features ... who was right, who was wrong?
 
I called for someone this am and was told it's not offered anymore and that his contract isn't up till 2011. I then read someone on here got it and had a year to go on there contract so I called back about an hour ago. This guy said it is still being offered and he said let me check his account and then he added it no problem. I told him one of his coworkers just got it today and they have a year left in there contract so why was I told it's not offered anymore. I said and he'll resign for 2 years. Cause he was going to do that anyway when he got the EVO. I said we didn't know there was going to be an extra 10 dollar charge. And I said on a phone with this size screen he is gonna want Fox News and that would be another 10 bucks for premium channels. And he said no the extra 10 bucks we will be paying also includes Fox News and the premium channels is that true? That would be cool if it did.

Now it's just a matter of where we want to order from. My Sprint store wasn't doing pre orders I don't think or if they are they didn't know about it yet. One Sprint store which isn't a main store I forget what you call it but he tried telling me they may do a special thing at midnight andhe could write my name down on a piece of paper . And then the EVP where we get our discount has a preorder and he said it may be before June 4th that there shipped but he's not sure. So if it's shipped on the 4th I'll get it the 5th cause the warehouse is here where I live. Wish I could just go to the warehouse and get one. LOL! But he said it may ship a day or two early. Will know later on..

You should not have paid taxes on that gift card. They rang it up incorrectly. It should have been $50 flat. The rep I did my pre-order with made the same mistake and fixed it before the tranaction was completed.

see comment #12310 - that's exactly what I said and the rep was very nice and was glad to give up the $10 bucks a month -- Remember the worse thing they can say is no! Just in a pleasant way, make it seem like you will leave if you don't get something.

#3 EVO pre-order at my BB! I asked my "guy" what date the pre-orders came in and he said something beyond June 4th, so I said, "so you don't know then, do you?". Ha! Anyway, they will call when it is in, and the pre-orders will be dispensed before any regular walk-ins on June 4th. I'll get a call. EVO !! Just couldn't do the RS thing. There are more blank stares in there than a nursing home.

People are so quick to jump. Once I get a handle on what I'm looking at, I'll have a better idea. Everyone is calling Hess a liar, but if he did say we wouldn't pay more for 4g service then he wouldn't be lying if plans dropped by $10 and the Premium Data charge gets added in. Maybe as the time approaches they then go public with the price decrease. With the eventual shift of premium phones to 4g, they're still getting the same money per month from their premium customers in the long run, no?

And I also think the $10 charge shows up separately so it is not included in one's discount calculation.
