Here we go... Long time lurker since page 21. I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread since the early days of Jackson and the subsequent death of Jackson on here. Well outside of the last 40 pages with some bickering (as to be expected) otherwise I have gained alot of info from yall from the EVO to android in general and havent needed to ask a question until now...
Its a tele-sale vs. BB question
So I have T-mobile..i know...and a SGH-T639, look it up and laugh. I was always that person that said "a phone should be a phone" That was until this phone called the HTC EVO 4G had me at hello. I live in KC, Headquarters of Sprint, and we are only getting 4G this summer...i digress.
Besides giving my business to a local company I have a corporate discount with my new job that gives me a 23% discount on Sprint plans.
My contract doesn't end until JULY 5th and I called Sprint today asking about the buyout they used to offer if you are still in a contract, well that was easily answered they USED to offer it, i'll eat the $50 ETF and last month bill. I mean its the EVO we're talking about.
I was completely expecting to get a BestBuy pre-prder today but the tele sales lady on the phone have me second guessing my options. She stated she with my corperate discount I also can wave the activation fee and give free shipping if i bought the phone through her, stating that with a third party dealer like BB you dont have the sprint specific return policy ect ect?(i dont really know what that means, is it just a halabuloo?). She also said the corporate discount could take 2-3 billing cycles to kick-in

But after pressing about how she can wave the activation fee with my corperate discount yet it would take 2-3 months to verify the 23% off on my monthly bill, well low and behold she changed tone and said she was willing to give me the discount from the beginning, while waiting for verification, if i were to purchase from her.
So does anyone know If I could essentially get the same deal from BB? I called a BB phone rep. at a local store and he stated he usually doesn't have any trouble getting the corporate discounts by calling sprint when activating. With tele-sales I have to wait for the mail-in rebate and wont recieve the phone until possibly 5 days after release. But if BB cannot waive the activation fee and I have a non discount bill for 2-3 months that would bite. Does anyone had any advice on the matter?
I dont have much trust in tele sales....I have in the past bought company direct from Carnival Cruise instead of third party Orbitz. Because their tele-sales stated problems if changes in itinerary happen, well turnes out i had my cruise canceled and was out all the airfare and if i would have went with Orbitz instead i would have been covered.
Again thanks so much for all the advice and I really appreciate this site and glad I stumbled upon it.
