YOUR problem is that you ARE a yankee fan. D-Backs win in 7.Okay maybe this was just a fluke, but I went to the Yankee game today and i had a -39 dbm signal while at the game. It was the first time my phone ever showed 5 bars. Is -39 even possible or was my incredible just being weird?

Probably needs antenna fluid or somethingThe signal is loose?
This just in, if you do a *228 and select option 1, at the end of the call, the device will reboot, and a software update to Android 2.1 will be installed on your screen. A new feature will be the Verizon Wireless Teleport Application (VZWTA, as we call it in tech support) You will be able to travel instantaniously to any location on the Verizon Wireless network with a push of a button.

I have seen a slight increase in signal

Instead, what you could do is tell people why the alltel towers are not recognized by the PRL from the OTA updates, and that a "hybrid" version is needed to actually get service in rural areas. This just in, if you do a *228 and select option 1, at the end of the call, the device will reboot, and a software update to Android 2.1 will be installed on your screen. Can OP change title of thread? Very misleading.

if that makes you feel important. Trust me, you have gained alot of respect with your post.If you say its BS then why are you trained by your company to shovel it to your paying customers as a fix for there defective system and equipment? I'm copying your post and sending it to Verizon. Says a lot about Verizon. Thanks for your help in getting me out of my contract and over to Sprint.
For the record, I said this in post #2 and again in post #6.
Telling you to do "*228, 2" is the Verizon equivalent of an IT person telling you to run a file defrag when you have a computer problem: its main purpose is to get you off the phone, hoping that you lack the desire to call back when the problem stays unfixed.

So what's the consencus fix or hoax?
That would be very helpful. It implies there's a firmware update for the phone.
Probably needs antenna fluid or somethingThe signal is loose?
Yes and yes.
Hoax in that you have to do it once a month. The PRL is updated automatically by the network and when you powercycle the device. Being a smartphone owner, you should be powercycling everyday to optimize performance. The *228 is not needed for this.
Fix in that, say you decide to mess with the network provisioning for the device. Option 1 would be a good step in attempting to reprogram the device. Option 1 is used primarily for phone number changes, but can also be used for this before attempting manual programing. It can also help if you have an authentication issue.
