Well, for those of us that loaded v2 of the leak, we are kinda screwed without v3, aren't we? I haven't seen any OTA, and I'm beginning to think I never will.
Does v3 have access to the protected apps in the market place?

Well, for those of us that loaded v2 of the leak, we are kinda screwed without v3, aren't we? I haven't seen any OTA, and I'm beginning to think I never will.
Does v3 have access to the protected apps in the market place?
I had the 2.1 v2 leak and I just downloaded and installed this 2.1 v3 leak. I have a feeling anoyone who installed any version of 2.1 wont be getting any OTA updates. However the good news you have experience to install newer releases when available 2.2, 2.3, etc.
Verizon wont be adding anymore updates for the Driod Eris since it is now a not in production phone, its already obsolete.

Because it is 99.9 % the same as the "official" OTA update.
What are the difference between v2 and v3 though???
Two big ones
1. Protected apps can be downloaded from the market again
2. Gmail messages with embeded pictures work again
I dont use gmail so not important, but what are "protected apps"
I've noticed on v2, lots of apps dont work perfectly, such as bank of america mobile banking, urbanspoon and stuff when it tries to link over, it doesnt work

I just read that I can no longer root my device because I did the leak. That just sucks. Thats what I get for not reading ahead then. Anyways, I did this a while back and I do not know how to tell if I recived the OTA 2.1. I was wanting to know how I would tell if I have the OTA 2.1 or the leaked 2.1?
I do have currently the V3 downloading, but If it turns out I recived the OTA 2.1, I am just going to leave it as is. Can anyone help me out?

I just installed leak 3 from mirror 2. I deleted leak 1 from the SD card before I started. Nothing changed. I still have the login, gmail pictures and no protected apps problems. Software is 2.26.605.2.
I used MyBackup Pro to restore my apps and data.

Yes, the jump from v2 to v3 is more than just an incremental shift from "two" to "three". There are numerous fixes in v3 that will make the phone usable again.
I just upgraded from v2 to v3. While things overall do seem to be running a littler smoother with less lag (although I haven't tested dialing too much yet), I have run into a couple of issues I did not have with v2.
I created two custom shortcuts with Better Cut. One for the Camera app and one for the People app. Once the new short cut is added I am unable to launch them. Tapping them displays the message "The linked program is no longer installed on your phone". So far I've only had the issue with those 2 apps. All other short cuts work fine through Better Cut.
Secondly I downloaded the HTC Profile widget. However, when I went to add it to my homescreen it's nowhere to be found. It's disappeared. I even uninstalled it and downloaded it again. Didn't work.
Mirror 2 is the correct version: 2.1 leak v3. There must have been something wrong with your download, so it didn't process the upgrade. (Note that user pwps just did it successfully.) Check for the usual problems: Did you verify the MD5 checksum after downloading? Did you make sure it's not named "....ZIP.ZIP" or anything funky like that? Is it in the root of your SD card (which is the "/sdcard" folder if you're browsing from a file manager on the phone)?

The HTC Profile widget can be found this way. HTC widgets > Settings. It should be listed there with the Wi-fi widget along the GPS and Bluetooth widgets.

Aha! I could have sworn it was directly under HTC widgets before. I don't remember it being under Settings. Thanks!
I'm trying to upgrade from leak 2 to leak 3, and its not letting me upgrade. I keep getting fastboot mode/recovery options in the boot menu. I downloaded the zip file and its the only file on the mem card. Any help?
Also, I've followed the directions in doing a factory reset as well, and now I can't upgrade.
EDIT: Figured it out. I was using a 1gb card to just try to update, but it didn't work. Guess you have to use 8gb or above for the phone to recognize the update. Don't know why, but that was my problem.
