Root [VIDEO] 10min Root complete Guide

then, ah, you don't need to dl it again

lol, i figured this much...but i don't see 1.bat in my tools folder (obviously). can i just run adb shell from my currently installed sdk and then 1.bat from his files (to push the files), or do i need to uninstall/reinstall using the version he posted?

yeah, if you go through the vid, he does a decent job (although pretty fast) at explaining everything. if you already have the sdk, skip the beginning where he is installing everything. don't worry about htc sync either, i don't have it installed.

what he does have in his sdk file though are all of the other files you'll need already in the tools folder, superuser.apk, busybox, etc. as well as a text file with all the cmd prompts to just copy and paste. very user friendly

I deleted my sdk, used his and only installed the packages relating to 2.1 and the usb drivers.

I have 77 as well, and I'm getting no love with the stock 2 gb card, or Sandisk class 6 8gb. I may try one other computer then go to wal-mart to find that PNY card.

I have 77 too. I bought a PNY card from walmart, but it still doesnt work for me. Also tried several computers.

Now I did more googlign and it seems like my card is a "class 4" card. but it was the only one at walmart. I may have to go searching for "class 2" cards.

Go back and get the 2 GB one... I used my girlfriends 4 GB one this afternoon and was unable to get the process (either way outlined on the video) to work. Coworker grabbed a 2 GB PNY over his lunch and I was able to get root within minutes. Mine on the 2nd attempt, his on the first.

That was it!!! Took two times, but it worked like a charm after that... Thanks a bunch!!!

Rooted, after trying a different card (PNY 8GB from Wal-Mart) and doing the pop it in and out trick. Win7/64 as well. Posting this via AndroidTether *grin*

Diego, I assume you already answered this, but it's a persistent root, right?

Are you just using the method shown in the video or have you other things?

I'm trying the method in the video and PRS's guide, which is basically the same thing, on three different computers now with two different cards.

I just installed the sdk stuff pertaining to 2.1 and the sdk drivers as you mentioned, no change though. Bout to go find a card I think.

No go for me. Looks like I will have to wait till a more reliable root method is discovered. People shouldn't have to go out and buy a new sd card to get root. Just saying.

so if i already have the 2.1 sdk installed and the usb drivers installed as well (because i've been doing screenshots for app bug reporting and trying to write my own apps), i should be ok with what i have and just using the 1.bat and the extra files from there too (superuser, busybox, etc)?

So it seems like this doesn't work for the majority of people trying it. Why is it pinned to the top of the root board? Seems like maybe they should wait till an actual working method for all users is established.

Also, what is with the 10 minute deal. Can someone be kind enough to post a decent vid with better instructions that is in focus?

Okay, so I went and got the 2GB PNY card from wal-mart, came back and had no luck. Kept trying, and one time I pulled the battery, but the screen on my phone stayed on, with the /!\ recovery screen, I pressed power + voldown and it went right back to HBOOT without the screen ever turning off, selected recovery and this time I was in business. Everything from there out was pie, just wish we could figure out the inconsistency of adb in recovery.

To all the people that still can't get it to work, try this video, it looks kind of promising.

No dice.

after in cmd cd\adb\adb tools\adb shell. a $ is all that comes up. running windows 7 64bit. I have gotten the DINC to boot in recovery once and f***** up by not replacing the battery correctly, but I cannot seem to replicate the process what so ever. I have been trying to root for days now with no avail. I also edited my usb drivers, if everybody that has had success with this, please post a valid updated usb driver for the DINC. I am at wits end, and giving it one more chance without waiting for a more stable reliable method to root

Try the insert/remove sd trick. That's how I got mine. I was using an 8gb, class 2 sandisk card: USB plugged in comp and phone with phone on normally, card not inserted. Used adb command "adb reboot-bootloader". Push power to get into HBOOT, highlight recovery, DON'T PUSH POWER YET. At the same time you hit power to go into recovery, start clicking in and clicking out the sd card. If no dice, try again. The second time worked for me. Good luck

Had the hardest time getting it to work on mine tried using my 8gig from my BB storm and couldn't get it. I went to Walmart bought a pny 2gig and it worked perfectly on the first try and first time I typed adb shell. Since I heard many had success with it.

I don't think size matters. . . .or so I've been told. Ha. Anyways, the class is what matters as that determines the speed at which data is transferred. With a lower class card, the window seems to remain open for a bit longer. That's what I've gathered at least, if I'm wrong, please correct me.
