Root 1.6Ghz! Its real

given that the 1.6 kernels were essentially tweaked jt stock speed kernels from 2 weeks ago, yes.

either geekniks stupidfast (can't say i love the name ) or jts latest in rm are good.

any preference? and can i swap to them if i currently have voodoo? if i do swap to one of those, will i still have voodoo?

crap, from what i read in the other thread, it seems like it can be a bit complicated?

edit: do i have to lose all my data?

only in the worst case scenario.

a majority of the time creating a disable_lagfix file in sdcard/voodoo, rebooting, and waiting 20 or so mins will disable voodoo.

at that point u just flash a nonvodoo kernel and then reboot and delete the file u made in the voodoo folder.

make sure to put adryn's uninstaller on ur sdcard though in the event that fails

dragonzsoul FWIW I completely agree with nitsuj17. The latest and greatest nonvoodoo kernels trump the old voodoo stuff. Admittedly, jt still puts out a voodoo flavor if you want

wow 20 mins? maybe i'll do it before i sleep. i'll be sure to have a nonvoodoo kernel ready also. you recommended 2 kernels, any preference?

jts 11/16 nonvoodoo is good and whatever stupidfast that geeknik has out now :o havent used his since the first so i cant really saw what version it is. :)

According to saps, jt's non-voodoo and geeknik's stupidfast are pretty much the same kernel's when it comes to using them on the phone and you wouldn't notice a difference. That said, I've been with Geeknik's (I've ran every one he has released, current is in sig) as has saps (who has tested them). I know nitsuj's been running with jt's as far as I know (correct if I'm wrong). So I would say you couldn't go wrong either way, they have both had very positive reception.

One thing I would recommend when getting rid of voodoo. Make sure you have adrynalyne's uninstaller on your SD card beforehand, like nitsuj said. I didn't when I went to uninstall and mine got stuck right after the Samsung logo. I couldn't mount the SD and couldn't push the file through adb either. I ended up having to swap my SD out with a family member's Android phone and load it on there when it was in their phone. So I would do that as a backup, just in case :).

thanks for the advice! if you couldn't mount the SD card, how'd you load the uninstaller?

Sorry, I meant my computer couldn't mount the device. I actually got my facts messed up before. I loaded the 2 files in adrynalyne's voodoo uninstall thread onto the sdcard and followed the directions there using adb, because I wanted to use the uninstaller as a last resort. My mistake. That's what happens when you don't get enough sleep

yup, i experimented with one of geekniks first releases and it was fine, but for the most part ive been sticking with what jt has been doing :)
