1.72.405.3 RUU issues

yeah its green, not blue. Does my head in but ill get over it. TADJ - ive had this problem even before the last update. But only for the media player all other tones are fine...I use the standard media player and have the widget on one of my home screens. Starts fine but then after maybe two songs it will not play anything and the timer is going at triple speed! really weird. I stopped the media player in the running processes but that didnt solve it and had to restart phone. happening all the time. gonna have to look for a different player me thinks.

Hello,

i've had the exclamation mark problem aswell :S (Update stuck while installing...) I have removed some stock apps with Visionary+ and Titanium backup. If this might be the problem, how can i re-install these apps? I really would like to get the updates (i think i'm missing 2 now), because i see that it fixes some important issues.

Thanks
Josh

Yes, I'm having this problem too and it's definitely the stock apps.

Does anyone have any kind solution? Anyone? I know that Android tries to reinstall the stock apps but Titanium changes a setting somewhere to stop this. Any idea how to undo this so the apps automatically reinstall?

Wow... after reading all these post update probs I'm kind of glad I didn't root my dhd! Think I'll hang out for the gingerbread update instead and just ignore the crappy stock bloatware that htc seem so desperate for us to use.
Hope everyone gets everything sorted. I don't seem to have any problems since the update, although I'll be keeping an eye on the sms thing.
And no, I'm not gloating, just saying.

My phone rebooted itself yesterday and re-installed all the HTC Sense stuff as well as the recent LinkedIn and Picasa updates. Initially I got excited because I thought it must be an HTC firmware fix installing itself but, alas, it doesn't seem to have been that. But, having got my phone up and running again, I too had the problem of the music player running too fast and staying silent. As with the poster above, a re-boot fixed it, but it worries me that perhaps the more serious issues that people have experienced might be just around the corner for any of us.

I'd not been bothered by (not really even noticed) the cut & paste cursor issue, but it can be got rid of by using the keyboard cursor keys to move the cursor - it then reverts to the normal vertical line.

Update: I've just turned all my HTC Sense sync settings back on and it seems to work again now without going crazy overboard on the CPU. I wonder if anything has changed on the HTCSense.com servers or if this problem was just a load thing after the recent update?

Wow... after reading all these post update probs I'm kind of glad I didn't root my dhd!

This post is exactly why I, and others, had hoped the thread would be restored to a more appropriate location. I've experienced some of the problems being discussed here, but have a standard phone that has never been rooted. Yes, from what I'm reading here, rooting does seem to cause additional issues, but it's the HTC upgrade on un-rooted phones that is the focus of this thread.

But thumbs-up to the poster if their phone is still working properly!

yeah i have never rooted my phone but have several issues with this new update. And because i havent rooted i never visit this sub forum so always miss out on this thread!

I think everyone has some problems or another. It isn't stable, it looks like there are memory leaks in the code as it seems that when you first get new version it seems fine, it is after constant use that bugs seems to fly out from no where and then you get random reboots... but yea, i hope they bring a fix out soon. I doubt they wait for gingerbread just because of 2.4 around the corner and I am sure they would wait for that release of android before adding their custom stuff ontop

I can also attest to ridiculously increased performance and battery life but it also introduced a heckload of problems with the default SMS app (including the various crashes, mine happened when I tried to access the imported from my previous phone Drafts, I ended up deleting everything...)

I am Greek and we have a special variation of the GSM character encoding that allows us to write in CAPITAL Greek and still use it (i.e send a message of 160 characters as opposed to the unicode encoding that allows only 70).
I am almost positive that when I first got my phone I could send messages with Greek characters while still staying with the 160 char limit. Now as soon as I write one Greek character I get to 70.
Thankfully Handcent works as it should but I'd rather use the stock app (don't really like Handcent's interface).

Also, as opposed to everyone, now I can NEVER access HTCSence whereas I had no problems before the update...

Why has this thread been moved to the root forum? Nothing to do with root surely??

Agree completely... move it back to the front page!!!

Please could you move it back to a more general thread so people can find it more easily?

This post is exactly why I, and others, had hoped the thread would be restored to a more appropriate location.!

Agreed. An issue like this, while probably appropriate to Support & Troubleshooting, warrants prominent exposure. I've left a 3d redirection on the move which will hopefully be long enough to alert all interested parties to the change. I also ask that members take a moment to "tag" the thread with suitable keywords, to make it more readily visible in searches.

For future reference, contacting a staff member directly about such issues gets them dealt with much more promptly.

Got a new problem with my phone.
I keep getting my SIM disconnecting (or something like that) which means I have to enter in my pin on my sim. It happens around 2 times a day. Anyone else having the same problem. It could be network, but I doubt it.

Ah nice, this thread got moved... I have an unrooted unbranded phone and the main problem i got from this update is that my SMS has stopped. I am using handcent atm but it is a little buggy (sometimes the contact names don't display) and i don't like the way it is set out (text is too big and it sorta looks cheap). Hopefully they fix this soon.

I have also noticed that my GPS will not connect anymore, anyone else having this problem (i definitely have it turned on)? Even if i enable the mobile net to get a faster fix it won't connect, regardless of how clear the sky is or where i am, or time of day

oh the other problem i've noticed is that a few of my Apps have stopped working since update and i have to reinstall them every time i want to use them, odd.

Does anyone has any problem with camera? My camera is not working after the update. It became so laggy. T_T

I have noticed a few issues as well and I have an unrooted desire HD.

I have got a problem with the SMS not showing new messages, music randomly speeding up and skipping tracks, GPS dropping off and also trying to make a phone call. This would be bearable but the last three items all happened at the same time whilst I was out running. It was very irriting to have to stop and turn GPS off and on, cancel the music player and check who I was calling. Hopefully HTC will issue a fix soon.

There is also the issue of the weather widget not updating to the current location which has been mentioned on another thread.

Hello again,

sorry for basically writing the same thing again, but no one replied last time so...

I've had a problem, with the updates not being able to install. Some people said it's because of removing stock apps. (which i have done) But if it's only the case of the apps being on or off the phone i would put them back on, except that i don't know where to get these apps from to re-install them.

Could someone help me please? I really would like to get these updates.

Thanks
Josh

Josh1221, I guess you need to re-flash your phone. Go over to the XDA forums I am sure they can help you do that.

Regarding my problem, my SIM card has disconnected me 3 times today. I am trying to find the logs but it quite hard as I don't know the exact time it happens. Not sure if it is hardware or software now. Getting really annoying.

If it is software, HTC gotta do something with their new update. The more it is being used, the more buggy it gets. I want 1.32 again!!!

Im having big problems with my music player. The track often will skip and then go back to the start of the track. Which is very annoying if listening to a 2 hour DJ Set and you have no idea what minute it was at when it reset. Ive also had problems where im listening to something on the stock music player, and winamp would just start playing a different track, even though winamp wasnt open and running! Just had the widget on the screen. So i have had to remove winamp. Also, if i pause my music and leave it for an hour or so, it no longer continues n from where it was paused, and goes back to the start of the track.

This last update has been a disaster. So many problems with it, and so many handsets having different types of problems.

couple more issues i've noticed. Besides the GPS no longer connecting at me, it auto disables the GPS when the phone goes on lock and i'm using navigate or location (previously the phone didn't lock whilst in these modes)

I've also noticed that after about 20 mins with the 3g on it DC's itself until i unlock the phone then it reconnects (the icon claims it's still connected but there's no 3g in the bar)

Not sure if this is another bug, but despite having to charge my phone every 24 hours, today my battery indicator is still showing a full battery. Almost 30 hours after i charged it! No doubt the phone will just die on me anytime now, and the battery is just being reported wrong. I have restarted the handset but its still showing as 100% battery.

sweet, another problem, has just arisen... Phone now no longer detects my face, as in it stays unlocked when i'm on the phone so my face pushes buttons
