Root 1 Click root app on the market

Thanks again for the help I have root, superuser is there got wireless tether and adfree and it all works is that all that needs to be done for now or until I get up the balls to go any further.I also got the bootstraper app and rom manager.

Cool, glad it's working! That's as far as I've gone. Tether was really all I was after. I don't really understand the ROM thing, don't know what it would get me. ???

I'm developing a love/hate relationship with my Droid. It's with me all the time, doing things my old phone never dreamed of. But at the same time, it's locking up all the time, spontaneously rebooting itself about once a day. My Windoze PCs don't act this badly.

Sounds like somethings wrong... maybe a format would help?

Yeah, I've been considering a format. I don't know how to go about it yet. I guess I'd want to make a list of all the things I have on my phone. I don't have anything on it I wouldn't want to lose, and maybe most of it I wouldn't want back if it's causing a problem. But how would I know?

I'd say if I went for a whole week with no problems, that would be a first, so maybe add one thing per week until it starts screwing up again???

The hardest thing to find was the z4root. Everything else was from the market. I assume if I format, I'd lose root, right? I've had problems since the beginning, but rooting was one of the first things I've done, so maybe that's the cause??? I don't know.

Just did this on a stock DX (Android version 2.2.1, Kernel version 2.6.32.9-g55626e1) and biggity BAM!! I'm now rooted! Did have to do the following though:

1) Downloaded Z4 app to computer and transfered it to phone in Mass Storage mode.
2) Ran Z4 the first time and it got stuck on the first screen that everybody has been reporting.
3) Pulled the battery and rebooted.
4) Ran Z4 again and it completed in less than 2 min.

Hi ho, Hi ho....off to the market I go :)

My phone wants to update to 2.3.340. I have updated all my applications and have it plugged in but updates fail. My phone is backed up with titanium backup....if I unroot than update, could I hit restore on the titanium backup thus restoring all of what I had prior to unrooting? I've never performed this operation and would like to verify with someone that has experience:)

Ok, so I used the temp root option using Z4root but when I try to run Titanium Backup it says I am not rooted? Any ideas?

So you just run this program and it roots your phone? Do you want to reset everything before you do it?

Say later on you want to "un-root", is that possible?

Ok , so I'm thinking about taking the plunge on this for a Motorola Droid X. So basically just download this APK and I was going to use Appinstaller to download. This will give me root?

Just to touch up on this thread....

I just dl'd z4root and did a permanent root on .340 2.2.1 stock. You HAVE to reboot after installing the z4root app. If you dont reboot after install and try to root you will get "running exploit blah blah" and the circle will keep spinning with no luck.

I did not try temp root, but permanent root works just fine.

EDIT: The z4root app has the option to do "temp root" or "permanent root".

didn't fine z4root on market but downloaded from xda on my new DX and it rooted just fine. nice and easy. Currently on wireless tether with my motion tablet and netbook. Installed from phone, it rebooted on it's own and was rooted. Did permanant root. Installed wireless tether from market. THIS IS GREAT. THANKS.

I am having some problems with rooting my Xperia x10, i've tried to use alle the version's of z4root.

Every time I try to use the oneclick root it either becomes unresponsive and I have to shut it down or It goes to blackscreen and stays that way for a long time until I shut it of. At one point I started the rooting and after I while it restarted itself. But when I tried to use busybox it still wasen't rooted. I have Xperia x10i with android 2.1

Can anyone help me, I 'm new to this rooting stuff but it seemed so simple.

Thanks for all help :o
