if we have them in stock they can usually be sold, sometimes there are holds put into the activation system, but theres been nothing like that for this.

Dont remind me of the incredible, thats was a pain in the ass when that came out.

How do you typically know when to release phones? You get them in and just start selling them? Corporate doesn't tell you when to start selling them in your system? I know they publicly announce phones, but doesn't your system show a date when to sell?

Exactly, the shortages, the out of stock time being pushed higher and higher. Then HTC finally moves it to the SLCD and stock finally replenishes faster. But the launch all together was gimped in my opinion, the renaming of the Incredible to the Droid Incredible at the last minute, the branding on the packaging being changed a few months out, no marketing material or marketing support for the phone besides a short ad of it popping out of the floor. I hope Verizon learns from there mistakes and has a killer campaign this time around so we can get this phone out to the masses and thereby get greater support and accessories from many many vendors like the EVO ended up getting...

Now all we need is for Verizon to announce the release... and hopefully we can still get a 1 year contract... I refuse to get a 2 year, devices become so obsolete quickly anymore with the advancement of technology being so rapid. And to add to that, its just nice to be able to get a new device every year.

Verizon tweeted to a customer on Twitter this:

@Raunchy_Jesus We haven't "changed" the Thunderbolt launch date - since we haven't announced it yet.

Touch'e Verizon (can't spell sorry for my horrible spelling on accents)

VZW can still hold it back. but if you go to a store, and they have them in stock. 9/10 times they will sell you the phone, money in our pocket now is better then a maybe youll come back ;)

While this thread gives me confidence, we still don't have a release date. VZW can swoop in and hold it back can't they?

yes they can because the tweet says we have not actually officially announced the release date, it:rolleyes: hell the Atrix is coming out next tuesday:rolleyes:

God, this $hit makes me want to grab corporate Verizon by the neck, shake them around and say "goddamnit nobody gives a crap about your $hitty i*hones and nobody is going to buy them up because they cannot get the Thunderbolt so release the fooking thing already for christ sake"

[/rant]

I am stuck with my old, buggy-as-heck Eris right now...if the release DOES get pushed back further than the 24th, then I am seriously considering jumping to an iPhone and then swapping it for a Thunderbolt when it is released. This is ridiculous.

That's not Verizon's real twitter.

Look:
Verizon Wireless (VerizonWireless) on Twitter

No mention of Thunderbolt for the last four days. They either plugged that response because it's not delayed, or that's a bogus twitter account that has been banned already.

uhhh that's on the twitter you just sent me...

just wanted to verify with everyone that it is infact being released on the 24th. in our systems we have a large order coming on the 23rd. so it is definately being released on the 24th :)

here is a screentshot of my PO (cleared out any info on where from/to etc...)

eta is the 23rd, we are able to sell on the 24th

how are we to know that this isn't a manufactured "purchase order"? looks awfully simple to make...

there has been no concrete evidence yet, and it's been clear from the start that verizon is hesitant to even announce a release date. they won't be releasing a phone without one, because that's just bad business.

they announced the iphone's release date a month before its launch and got tons of pre-orders as a result. why would they do anything less for their flagship 4g phone? clearly, verizon has handled this situation poorly, but would they really just cut their losses and announce the release date of the phone less than a week before launch?

this whole situation is weird. i'd leave verizon if i didn't get such a great discount. or if a better phone was out there...
