2-24-11 release date

Great thread, thanks for sharing all the info. I don't have much to add, but will throw out I called the Best Buy I preordered from today and the guy said (like others have said here) the shipment is set to arrive the 21st. He said as long as it arrives, which he expects, I can pick up that day.

Given the prices on other phones at bestbuy vs the Verizon site its safe to say that BestBuy might be charging more, it definitely has a HUGE markup for the Retail MSRP. Another reason to not buy from bestbuy, I'm curious to see what Amazon / Wirefly will charge.
 
i don't want to be a downer or spread more rumors but i went into a vzw store tonight (not a corporate store) and the guy said that its not coming out till MARCH 15! any truth to this?

No truth to it....... That's because no one seems to know when the release date is except for Verizon. It could be tomorrow for all we know or next year....... Everything you hear is just pure speculations and rumors.
 
i wonder though becuase it is not a corporate store that they are the last to get the phone. When i went to bb last week tey told me that they and vzw corporate stores will get the thunderbolt first. Just a thought.

best buy may mark up retail for phones, but when it comes to contract, they go at the same price as verizon, or else NO ONE would buy from them, ever.

I'm going to say that this is probably when this store believes they will get it. This goes along with a post I made in another forum about the Wireless Zone near by house. People were going in asking for the iphone yesterday and were being told that the store hadn't even received them in yet because they weren't a corporate store. If the Thunderbolt were going to come out February 24th or 28th, March 15th sounds like it would be about the time that secondary stores might receive in shipments.

The Wireless Zone is a Franchise Verizon authorized Dealer, and the should get them on day 1. If they don't its because they don't do enough volume, that would be a reason they could be getting it later, not because they aren't Corporate. It's the stores that carry multiple carriers that wont sell it, or get it when the exclusive agreement in up.

Amazing the breadth of the stories! Yesterday I got a text message from VZW to tell me my upgrade was ready and waiting. So I called the number in the text for information. I told her I wanted info on the TB. She cooed and said she also is waiting for it so we chatted about features. She told me however that it's being delayed until March and she's hearing late March. Really? Now this is the lady put on the phone to handle upgrades specifically! I realize VZW staff are clueless for the most part and you get a different story from each rep but for her to do more than play dumb was weird.

She knows less than we do
 
I just got done talking to my friend who works for Verizon and she said that they are suppose to get them to get them this weekend and release it next week for sure

Seriously, we should just put all of the dates into a hat and pull one out. That would be the release date. :D I really, really get the feeling that VZW gets off on this sort of thing. The longer we don't hear anything, the worse we want it. Then our friends want, and their friends and so on. More hype without the cost of advertising. If we stopped talking about it, they'd go ahead and release it tomorrow. (Not saying we're gonna stop talking about it. ;))

Along these lines...
I believe the only real reason the VZW rep and manager gave in and changed my upgrade date was because they felt that the phone wasn't going to come on the 24th (the day they bumped my 3/12 date to) and so it was a moot point. Sort of like they were pacifying me. So, depending on the side you choose to believe, you'll get info/opinions from each side and at the end of the day, I'm just hoping my side wins. ;)
