Root 2.3.4 is available now !!

Talking of redux I've been off charge now for 7.5 hours and still have 80% battery, I've not used my phone much though to be honest, but do you thing the new ril, drivers and radio will make it even more efficient?

You can flash the RIL in hadron's sig which is the latest Nexus 1 RIL (all desire AOSP roms use nexus 1 RILS anyway) and this will not replace the drivers. The only issue is the RIL itself.

What does the ril actually do? And is that the only thing that might make battery life even better?
What benefit will I get if I flash the radio?
What do these leaked drivers do to benefit the phone?
Sorry for all the questions but I like to know all I can.

its an odd one. rils and radios behave differently for different people due to device pvt version, rom version, geographical locations, network provider and radio version.

dont get too rapped up in it, generally a RIL will come from a ROM with a specific/new radio type
people are trying the leaked rils with the GB roms as this leaked ril came from a leaked GB rom so should work better with the GB ports we are using.
however not all rils are good for certain radio builds and not always good for network provider.

Ive also found in most instances that RIL and Radio flashing does not affect battery performance as infact its placebo (battery drain comes from newish flash and messing. after they flash new radio they go back to normal usages and so it "seems" better when its the same)

For gingerbread however i have noticed improvements but this is because im using a RIL and driver set designed to work with gingerbread by the phone manufacturer.

You can't just come back after being MIA and think you can answer all my questions :)

hahahahahaha, i bet you had it all typed out :P

I actually did. I was copy / pasting, separating it in to 1 question, 1 answer format. I missed a word off so I scrolled down into the thread below to copy the text back and saw you're answer!

remember that a ROM flash will overwrite the RIL - so (a) you need to do it again after an update and (b) if you want to undo it then reflashing the ROM will do the job.
