Root 2.6.35.14 kernel for cm7

Need some testers to test my new zImage and modules


I patched the kernel source code from 2.6.35.7 to 2.6.35.14 and a couple other things I cant remember.


I had to take the FSR modules from a TASS kernel and MOD them with a hexeditor, and change the Version Magics

I made 2 version, one that mounts data to the internal partition and one that maps data to the sd-ext

I dont like the auto mount where it will mount one or the other, it seems too unpredictable to me


I would like some people who are using CM7 beta 4 or 5 to test this and report back

Thats pretty sweet... I'll let ya know how it works out for me... ~~thinking to myself... flash it in the morning.... play with it all day when I'm supposed to be working... <--- LOL.... then report back how its running tomorrow night.... ~~~
 
Gonna give this a try : 263514_CM7_B45_KRN.zip

EDIT : need a little help Hroark . 4 times after reboot , my phone has bypassed the lock screen on boot and went straight to the home screen . It also has lost all apps installed after the flash .

I'm going to try the other zip and see what happens . It may just be my phone .


UPDATE : 263514_CM7_B45_KRN_DT2EXT.zip is running great . No 3g after flashing . I had to go in to setting and re-enable it . So far so good . Thx

Hmm, mine boots to lock screen, I am using DT2EXT version

If you were using my kernel that re-maps data to sd-ext then you need to flash the DT2EXT version


you had to re-enable 3G, that is weird
 
I had the trouble with this zip : 263514_CM7_B45_KRN.zip

The DT2EXT version is working great . I'm going to test it for a little while longer tonight then put it through it's paces tomorrow .

As for 3g , I waited about 5 minutes after flashing the DT2EXT to see if it would come on but it was a no go . I went in to settings and sure enough , 3g was disabled .

Hroark has repeatedly said he has NO interest in overclocking... if the OP is by Hroark, and does not SPECIFICALLY say oc kernel... Then NO it isn't overclocked
 
Maybe it's just the signal . Mine goes from 1x to 3g sometimes . Maybe Boost towers are having problems ?

In my OP I said I need testers to test the kernel

That implies that it is not fully tested

When I say I need testers, I mean people who know how to uninstall what they just put on, or do backups before hand, and people who are willing to check things out and try to figure out why things are not working if they experience issues with what they just installed.

We have enough options with Odin and ClockWorkMod, that people should be able to revert back to their previous state or to a working condition if they encounter an issue

A couple of people mentioned issues with the 3G already, so yeah something is going on, but one person said it started working again after a minute and the other person said he had to enable 3G in settings

I did not experience anything like this my self, so it is weird, but seems to resolve itself.

you were not suppose to install this on the Stock ROM it is only for CM7 beta 4 or beta 5

I am assuming that you installed this on stock ROM, because you did not mention any details about your setup, like what ROM you are on and what MODS you have installed

Agreed. I reread the post and revised mine . If he is seeing 1x then his data is enabled . As you said, this is still being tested. I've been on and off mine for hours and it's running like a champ. No problems what so ever.

I wonder if some how the network drivers that are in the kernel get cached on the system somewhere, maybe in data or something

I wonder if a factory wipe would clear the issue


I am running straight beta 5, no mods or anything and this kenel did not cause an issue for me


I know that my CM7 ROM reacts differently with some of the 3G scripts and kernel tweak people put on, so I always like to know what version of the ROM people are running and what mods they have installed

I don't want to mess with over clocking on this phone

I do not want to be responsible for people frying their phone, and I just am not interested in OC at all

That is not to say I may change my mind about it, but at this point in time I have other interests

I have been messing with kernel stuff a lot lately, but my goal is to try to make a kernel that will allow us to run ICS or CM9

If I do come out with an OC kernel, I will mention it in the OP
 
It's possible that a factory wipe would fix the issue .
I always go in to CWM and clear the cache and fix permissions . It's just a habit I've gotten in to .
There was also one issue I was having when I flashed the DATA2EXT kernel that I didn't mention . When I flashed , I had absolutely no data or radio signal . The Boost Network was completely down . I don't think that had anything to do with me having to re-enable data but I thought that it needed to be mentioned . You would know better than I .
